You asked for an epic ballad.. Ghost delivers! Its super hooky, and love the guitar harmony counterpoints. Ghose is always evolving. Thankfully Tobias doesn't listen too closely to Ghost fans, otherwise he'd be remaking Opus or Meliora over and over. The new album is varied, and exciting, and a great record overall.

With Life Eternal, this is one of their darkest songs, absolutely mind blowing. Goes straight to the heart and right through it.

This is the first album I see coming out as a new fan of Ghost and no shit I'm obsessed. You never know what they will drop, who they will be inspired from and they get you hooked on every song. These dudes will rewrite the music industry.

This is a criminally underrated song. It's so, so beautiful and I hope as more people listen to the album this song gets the recognition it deserves. Makes me cry every time I hear it.

Yep… this tour they played Kaisarion and Hunters moon live but I want to hear this album cover to cover. Spillways live will be awesome… and finishing up the show with Respite will be amazing.
So sick. This is a timeless revisiting to a musical part of rock and roll history that disappeared. And then Ghost blew the face off of me. Amazing.
I think for now it is the only band that is recovering history of rock in this album... i literaly hear EVERYTHING, ozzy, metallica, def peppard, bon jovi, bryan adams, super tramp, ratt, dokken , van halen, rush, kiss, blue oyster, boston, toto, asia, megadeth, dio,,,, etc....
Tobias is an amazing songwriter and Musician, who doesn't follow the current trend of dumbed down music.

I remember going to their concert in 2018. My first ghost concert ever, I cried I felt so welcomed and I just can't stop loving this band. Their music just brings me joy, tears, chills ect.. they are amazing and talented arist. I will never stop listening to them.

This is my favorite track on the album, when I first heard it it left me speechless and had tears in my eyes. I saw ghost a few weeks ago at the O2 and was gutted they didn’t perform it but it was a awesome night.

A month into Impera and I still haven’t gotten tired of any of the songs, I love this album so much, it truly is a masterpiece and I can’t wait for what’ll come next!
This song isn't long enough for me so I keep it on repeat. Every time I feel my throat tighten and my hear feels heavy and light at the same time. Safe to say that it's my comfort song.

This album delivered.. you don't hear rock bands that sound original like that now a day's. Ghost should be head lining big venous all over north America, therefore the world 😊.
When I first heard this album, I was like "hmm...this band is pretty cool but what do their other albums sound like?" So I checked out their discography from start to finish and was blown away. Now I'm obsessed and see why all the hype around this band. They have a few covers out there as well that are just as epic. This band can't put out a bad release.
EDIT: what really sold me on this band was their epic arrangements, covers and specifically, the track Cirice.

Great breakdown of the song - and yes, you're right: the song will grow on you. It took me a few listens but it wormed its way into rotation on my playlist pretty quickly. Can't wait for your reactions to Griftwood and Respite - they're my current obsessions.

THIS SONG IS AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL SONG!! It made me tear up- I was rocking Ghost with my 2 daughters and as soon as this song started ( my first time as loud as my little jeep can go without blowing the speakers- even then, you want it louder, I think a vehicle- the surround sound is the best way to enjoy Ghost) I caught the minstrel-sound, and it made me think of Zeppelin ( never a bad thing). I was getting out of the car, and I sat my ass right back down- I thought it was killer; it was so beautiful, how it touched me way down deep in the feels. I will remember this one
Ghost, specifically Tobias has continued to evolve and impress with new sounds, dipping into many genres; I don't think Ghost fits into any one category, and there's something for everyone!! Tobias is a a Jedi master of music, and the shows!! He's also an actor, and going to a Ghost concert looks more like a Broadway show than a concert and definitely on my bucket list!!

This is truely beautiful....love the choir...love the haunting sound of Tobias voice...I am fairly new to Ghost and yes I started at the first album and went from there ! I have watched the mini shows of the Papa changes...lol Matthieu this song is a definite heart wrencher on all social sites like facebook and twitter..It will grow on you...believe me as will Spillways my friend lol

I sing a lot of random ass songs at work it's stupid lol. Musicals to random songs I hear on the playlist I've compiled through the years I happen to hear. But this song? This fucking song!? I'll be singing this, humming this song what have you throughout the years. I'm kinda new to Ghost and will grab more albums whenever I can. I totally understand I had the very same first impression I liked it but I wasn't in love with it. But the more I listen to it like it took me a day and I was already hooked I've listened to the song multiple times a day and I already know it by heart. I love this song probably my favorite song on the album that's not a single. I don't know maybe it's my favorite song on the album it certainly the one that I listen to the most
Ghost is like Marilyn Manson's mechanical animals mixed with Dr Hook. Melodic, humourous and dark all at once
It's a beautiful song and everytime it brings tears to my eyes, it was really epic to the soul, really. Disappointed you didn't love it all first listen. I'm sure it will be a grower for you.

Absolutely, "Dominion" is pretty similar to "Eternal" from Depeche last album "Spirit".

When i first heard this I didn't think much of it until the chorus played for the first time. Now I listen to the song a lot. That chorus just causes so much feels.
I LOVE old Ghost, BUT, I also LIKE (a lot) new Ghost, and this song is a really good one. It is a ballad, BUT, it is ballad by Ghost, so, it is "The DARKNESS at the heart of my love", so, it is about LOVE, but, not all about sweetness in a love situation. It implies that even in a LOVING situation, there is or will be some "darkness" involved. That is evident in the last part where it says that "and all this time you knew that I would put you through the darkness at the heart of my love for you". But, it IS a Ghost ballad. I have the new CD, and the WHOLE CD is just GREAT. I've been playing it in my cars CD often, and really, it is one of the ONLY Ghost CD's that I have that I can kinda sneak by a bit to play with a family member or 2 in my car without maybe "having them think that I MIGHT worship satan" just by playing the CD in my car. Anyone who has heard most Ghost CD's before THIS one surely KNOWS exactly what I mean.
Anyways, I totally LOVE this song, I really can't find ANY fault with it.
This is my favorite song followed by griftwood and then spillway. I’ve been listening to this album since Friday at 12:00 am and haven’t stopped. I haven’t decided yet if this album is number 1 or number 2 but start to finish this album is amazing.

@@Paincakes now understand I was introduced to ghost by the song square hammer and then dance macabre. I then went down the hole I absolutely love prequelle. From the start with rats all the way to life eternal I love that album. I love pro memoria, witch image, see the light, and miasma (which is one of my top songs on the album). So as of now number 1 is prequelle. That could be changing though to impera. The more I listen to it the more I fall in love with it.
My favorits on this album is this one, "Respite On the Spitalfields" (just love the mystic sound of the 2 chords (I think it's called) "God chords" sequence, 2 major chords that don't share key) and "Call Me Little Sunshine". Also love the sound of Watcher in the sky, and Spillways has it's catchy moments, but the choruses on this album has a tendency to be too damn repetitive for their own good imo. Works in this song though!
I agree with what you mentioned about the choruses. All the songs that I had mixed feeling about was because of the choruses. Except for Watcher in the Sky. Give me "SEARCHLIGHTS, Looking for the Watcher in the SKYYYY" all day every day haha
@@Paincakes Haha yeah, Watcher In the Sky has quite a catchy chorus though! Never reflected over the Imagine Dragons aspect of "Darkness", but I can se where you're coming from with this comparison. I'm kinda thinking church music/gospel with modern production (the chorus/choir). So damn glad that my spontaneous association isn't Imagine Dragons 😁And the arpeggiated triplets guitar/verses are awesome, sounds like a Billy Talent kinda ballad
Immediately upon hearing the beginning of Respite, I felt the soul of a Type O Negative in that opening riff... I could easily imagine Peter Steele singing the vocals in his lower register too.
Funnily this (with Kaisarion) was my favorite when listening to the album the first time

I love this song, it just jams. I hadn't considered the "Imagine Dragons" thing, but I'm think you must've gotten that from the snaps. This is a minor thing, but I LOVE how the snaps are so dry in terms of no reverb. With an 80's vibe and ballad usually EVERYTHING just gets doused in reverb. And of course there are elements that have those big giant reverb tails but I love how those snaps are just tight and right in your face to contrast that.

My favorite song from this Album!
It took me a few listens to realize - it's contemporary gospel played in a metal style, with darker lyrics.
I came to Ghost through hearing Square hammer first, and for a while I would compare other songs to it - the closer it got to SH, the better. But Impera was my first chance to participate in an album release as a fan and I listened to it all the way through. The next day I had some work to get done so I listened in the chronological order like you recommended. You're spot on to advise it. Was kicking myself for not doing it earlier!
