Darkness in the heart of my love is one of those power metal ballads that the world is missing nowadays, the guitar solos, the passion.. .great reaction to this song guys!
Ugh, I haven't felt emotions, like I am, listening to the song for a song time. I think this is one of new favorites. His delivery of the lyrics and vocal choices, they are like butter over the instrumental choices.
Legit had full body goosebumps at the end of the first listen. Hasn't happened to me with a song in a very long time.
Would you believe Tobias never wanted to sing? He just couldn't find a singer for his new project and decided to do it himself out of necessity.
Such a beautiful and 80's inspired power ballad... Loving it even more with every listen! According to Tobias, this song is about people promoting all of these values under the guise of being god-fearing and righteous while they practise none of it. It’s just for cash and power.
Interesting. It's tough sometimes to know what they're about, but I like that they can have multiple interpretations just by going off what the song lyrics are. Everyone has their own perspective and experience that color how they interpret. But always good to know the original creator's intent!
I hope you doing "Respite On The Spitalfields" as well. It's a masterpiece!

(Like prosperity preachers). When looked through that lens, the song hits another level. One of the best on Impera.
My unpopular opinion.... properity gospel preachers are more aligned with Satan than Jesus.

Darkness at the heart of my love is AMAZING! The VERSE is amazing… so chill and just awesome…! This is the ballad I’ve been waiting ANYONE to write and release. I did t see GHOST being the band to deliver. Not since 2012 Slipknot SNUFF have I LOVED a song as I do this one! And, WHAT A GREAT ALBUM!!!!! Well done GHOST
Tobias said in an interview that this record has the most layers of guitars amongst their records. And why not use Fredrik Åkesson as much as possible if you ask me?😄🤘

Tobias has been doing his vocals unmasked on albums. But masked on tour. I would like him to ditch mask on tour and use his actual vocals on tour. He has a great voice.

That’s all I think about when listening to this song, a huge crowd, everyone screaming the lyrics and feeling it. Imagine how awesome that would feel and sound, I’d probably end up tearing up lol

This song gives me such Sweeney Todd vibes, like he's setting up to make a Ghost musical (which he has spoken about wanting to do before). When you get into the depth of the song's message, it is actually a really heavy topic. I've really been enjoying your reaction videos and I can't wait to see the rest for this album. Great job! Oh, also, Orisonata (*wink*) sounds like an album I am interested in.

Holy hell, yes! I hadn’t thought about that, but I can hear it now. I’m a sucker for musicals like Sweeney Todd, Rocky Horror, Repo!, Little Shop of Horrors, etc. If there’s a Ghost musical, they need to just surgically attach my butt to the seat right now.

Possibly one of the best Power ballads ever!! Extremely melodic and powerful. With what the world has been going through with Covid-19 and now the Ukrainian conflict, this song and the rest of "Impera" are just what we need to lift our spirits in a very big way!!👻👻👽👽🤘🤘

I think that sound change you're thinking of is called the doppler effect. It's like when the sound of a siren changes when the Fire Truck goes by.
I kind of thought of it as overlapping time signatures that just like binaural beats use two different frequencies to create whatever the difference is.

After listening to all of Impera. I would highly recommend going back and listening to the song Jigolo Har Megiddo live acoustic, and their cover of if you have ghost.

You're probably correct about the guitars. At least for Prequelle, Tobias overlaid 2 guitars each for the lead and rhythm parts and picked different vintage guitars for each to get the exact sound he wanted.

Also… while playing the entire record through, Watcher in the Sky fits perfectly and you do not want to miss out on that song, trust me! Spillways is my least favorite right now. And track 10… it’s OK. Not great.
I think the last track, Respite is still my favorite followed by Griftwood!

@@CodyJamez707 I know exactly what you mean. With so many bangers in there portfolio, it takes a few listens to realize they all hit the mark just on different targets. My favorite Ghost song honestly changes by the day/week.
Why did you skip Spillways?! That was like the best song on the album! You also skipped Watcher in the Sky for some reason... You are gonna do all the songs on the album you haven't heard, right? Actually, if you do Spillways, maybe react to the live performance they streamed yesterday.

Okay, funny story... We reacted to every song on the new album in order. There was no real logic behind the order of which the videos were posted, however.... the one reaction video we shot that didn't turn out well was Spillways. Not up to our normal fun banter and quality in my opinion. Our kids started having a meltdown and were fighting/yelling in the next room about something and we got super distracted and flustered. So, that said, we will reshoot Spillways this Thursday evening with full disclosure that it's not technically a "First" reaction. Thanks for your support of the channel!

Good call on Mozart's Requiem, but personally it reminds me of Elgar.
And "Darkness" could be actually be by The Darkness, especially the chorus.
I've spun the album 7 times now and it's made me cry twice.
I'm not as familiar with Elgar's music. Which piece would you most recommend?

The chorus really reminds me of a kinda Imagine Dragons-ish ballad style, or in any way, a kind of early to mid 2010's love songs, with those stops and accents

Everyone says that Fredrik Åkeson played the solos on the album..and he deserves all the acolades he can get .. Now was it him or Tobias who wrote the Solos ? peace :)
No idea, but my guess would be Tobias gave him a sketch of what he was looking for and Fredrik embellished them. Or maybe he just said, "here do whatever you want, I trust you" hmm.....
I love her reaction to the hook in this song. I picture Imagine Dragons singing this at halftime of the Superbowl.....it has that feel. Thru appearance nobody that ever looks at this band visually with no sound would ever envision them singing this song. This is an epic song no matter....but an even more epic song performed by anyone other than Ghost. Sad the industry is like this....but it is what it is.
For me this sounds like it could be an Abba song.

Hey man, yes, we did Spillways, but unfortunately, we got super distracted by the kids having a meltdown in the next room and our normal fun "banter and discussion" was really awkward and not up to our self proclaimed standard of quality :) However, we're planning to do a reshoot of Spillways this week, even though it won't technically be a "first reaction" 😁
