Before going to court I managed to totally turn my life around, I was heading for death, I got a decent job too. Then in court I was hit with a large fine and com payback for a very minor crime. Now I loose a days pay a week doing this so can't work everyday in order to pay the fine, let alone rent. People get tempted times like this. That 1 day a week extra is my lifeline, but I have to do pointless tasks all day like this instead and try to work out where to get extra money from to survive.
Also putting criminals together is a big risk for people like me. I try to avoid anyone still involved with crime but on these schemes you meet and get to know plenty of people, also many are people with drug addiction as well. I hate having to be around people who are high or talking about drugs all day when I'm trying to do everything I can to stay away from people like that and any of those connections.
I got 150 hours starting next month.i just seen a group out today next to my house. They had nothing to do and one lad was getting earache for it..I predict an argument is on its way for me!
@@simonhy1313 8 months.got one job emptying soil from one area and filling it back in another.Guy who ran that spot smirked at us so we got all the work done early to piss him off😂
@@kenjohnson1041 hey hows ur life right now if u dont mind me asking, and yeh community service not bad i got 17 hours left and started with 150 hours. the supervisors are lovely and treat you with respect.
@@simonhy1687it’s pretty good thanks.I didn’t get any hassle from supervisors either.I just treated it like a 150hour contract.ask if you can count time it takes to travel to and from this. They gave me time back for that
it's forced labour under the guise of rehabilitation the system is never about positive change the system is of the darkness its always about control its never about what the system can offer offender its about what they can get out of them
I got this punishment in 2015. I don't want sympathy because i know i did the crime and had to do the punishment too. All i can say is it isn't soft or easy like some people say it is. I'm not really here to comment on whether it should be or not but the fact is i found it quite unpleasant so if the purpose is just to punish then it works for that. Not sure it really does much to reduce offending though
Its a way of publicly humiliating the offender . Disgusting

I fully agree, I'd personally just refuse to do my community payback and serve prison time instead.

The justice system is a sham.....
Bang Up Or Pay Back? is a short fictional drama looking at the option of Community Payback as opposed to a short prison sentence.
Would you do community service or prison?
I wonder if any of these community service workers go AWOL?
