Having been a caretaker for family members, I understand the exhaustion. I wasn’t able to get just glycinate b/c the shop was out, so I got a combo of glycinate, maleate, & citrate. I wasn’t as successful re: sleeping through the night after the first night, but I have now started postponing taking my magnesium until an hour or so before bed. The capsules I got recommend 3 per day, so I save at least 1 until late evening. Last night (first time I postponed the dosing) I woke up only one time, so I consider that a success! Also, at my usual spots for purchasing supplements (grocery store pharmacy & Walgreens drug store), I found only the usual magnesium oxide. That’s what I’ve been taking for years-since the doctor didn’t bother to tell me that there are multiple kinds of magnesium. UGH! The oxide is poorly absorbed (only about 4%, I think). I found the other kinds at The Vitamin Shoppe. I’m sure that GNC or some other specialty health food store would yield what you need. Good luck!

You really are a very good person. I don't have Health Insurance, I am just at a place financially where I make too much money to qualify for affordable healthcare and I make way too little to afford anything currently available... (I'd have to sleep in my car) so I'm always looking for advice. My Blood Pressure is 150/95... It's been 145/85 for years, I'm 57 yrs old. In 2012 I ran a 1/2 marathon in 1hr 52mins but my weight fluctuates by 70 - 90 lbs... I'm currently taking it off again. I'm 5'11 250lbs. 2 years ago I got to 180 lbs and my Blood Pressure went down to 139/79. If you are ever in New York again I'd love to take you up on the offer you once made to speak with people who have concerns. Thank you so much for these Videos ! @@blakemoore666 Sorry for the delayed reply, but I have been without power due to a heavy wet snowstorm in the Sierra Nevada. Yes, I have considered an ablation multiple times, since about 2007. I have felt that it is an invasive procedure with unknown consequences, even though the success rate in stopping AFIB is about 70% (after two procedures). I know when my episodes begin (chest sensations), and can tell pretty close when they end by checking my pulse. I have kept track of my episodes with a monthly calendar since about 2014, and they have been relatively constant in frequency and duration, and in my opinion tolerable. If they were to increase, I would consider an ablation once again. I have been on Flecainide and Atenolol meds since 2007. I am 77 years old.

I have AFib and a number of other cardiac problems. After taking magnesium regularly for some time I have not noticed any more episodes (although I recognize AFib can be "silent"), with the same result for PACs. I take magnesium chloride in a liquid suspension ("ionic magnesium")--100 mg 2x/day. I mix it in about 6 ounces of low sodium V8 juice (which, by the way, is an excellent source of potassium--also good for the "ticker"). I am more than delighted with the result. Sadly, but not unexpectedly, supplementing with magnesium was never mentioned by my two cardiologists, my electrophysiologist, or my primary care doc. Sometimes one has to be one's own physician. Dr. Gupta is a wonderful exception to my experience with medical professionals and I wish I could clone him

    Summary:
    - Magnesium pidolate is best but hard to find
    - All magnesium’s are generally good regardless but magnesium oxide is poorly absorbed
    - Dr Gupta recommends magnesium taurate at 200mg per day
    - Mag citrate and glycinate (if you have a sensitive stomach) are good magnesium’s to take
    - If you dislike pills, try the powdered aspartate form or open the powdered capsules and dissolve it in water
    - if you’ve got kidney issues talk to your doctor about supplementation.

Dr Gupta the information you provide is easy to understand and right on the money. I hope you are able to continue doing so for a long while. I was taking a capsule that had 200mg mag bisglycinate, but it only had 48mg of elemental magnesium, so I've found angstrom magnesium on Amazon that is all elemental magnesium and it's a sublingual drop so it's absorbed under the tongue bypassing the digestive system. My impression is it the magnesium that does the work not what it is bound to. I based this on the fact when I was in the hospital after an operation I had an afib episode which they stopped with a beta block, but then gave 4 or 5 bags of magnesium.

Thank you for your advice. I used to be very constipated but after I saw your video I bought magnesium oxide and now my bowels move so well. Also I’m eating a lot more organic fruits and vegetables. No animal products. So much better. Thank you for your advice. God bless you. Greetings from Canada

He said not to take Mag Oxide becaused it caused a "runny stomach" but that sounds like what she needed. I tried it and spent the day on the toilet so I switched to Citrate, which works fine.

Great videos, I had open heart surgery at age 5 for atrial septal defect, I am now 50, I have two healthy children, I stayed and still continue to exercise and stay active, eat great things but still seeing subtle things of concerns as I age, so I just happened to start taking magnesium actually for a sleep and anxiety remedy, its great to learn that it can continue to take care of my heart. One extra thing that I can recommend for my clients (I am a clinical mental health therapist) when discussing anxiety and insomnia...that magnesium is heart healthy which is something I think we all need to keep our generator going as long as possible.
