My sister and I went to Kobe by the Hankyu Line from Osaka over 2 days in Dec 2022. It was worth getting the 2-day pass at 1200 yen (if I had remembered it correctly) to travel to Kobe. Do visit the Herbs Garden in Kobe as its grounds are really spacious and the Christmas vibes were superb. Hmm… one thing to note, the restaurants were all closed at 2.30 pm and we had a hard time getting our lunch after we took the cable ride down from the Herbs garden. On the second day, we had Kobe beef at Steak Land (6th floor) and it was delicious. After lunch, we had a great time checking out the designer boutiques near Daimaru. We had a great retail experience there as it wasn’t crowded like Namba in Osaka. The lack of crowd and the pretty boutiques all lined up neatly put one in a relaxed and happy mood. Will definitely visit Kobe again.

Kobe is on day 4 of my trip, I'm so excited. One thing I'm noticing is Japan keeping remnants of disaster as reminders. Ive seen videos of several places up in the Tohoku region that did the same thing regarding the earthquake.

It's hilarious, Shinichi is enjoying the walk and prolonging it so that he can enjoy the view and the breeze. Meanwhile, Satoshi is rushing to get some morning coffee :D

What a crazy coincidence. I've been watching your tabieats videos for years, and just this week I found out I am moving to Kobe for my job. These videos have been a huge help for me to see the city before I get there haha thanks a lot.

I do know, and remember the earthquake in 95 - we felt it in Kanagawa. Then we watched the reports on the TV - after picking it up, and it was terrible.
I've never been to Kobe, but would love to go if I have a chance to go back to Japan. I'm enjoying the walk to the harbor. Some of those buildings do remind me of Yokohama, and some of it reminded me of parts of New York City with the old buildings. However, with the ocean on one side and the mountains in the background, it also feels like San Diego. And yet, it's still a beautiful Japanese city. I also love exploring shotengai - I could never get tired exploring them in Japanese cities.
Shall we address the big white elephant in the room? What's with Kobe Tower? It's all wrapped up!

There's a ferry connection from Kobe Airport to KIX that gets there in about 30 minutes - that's probably faster than getting to Narita from Nakano, but a bit slower than getting to Haneda... so on average I wouldn't expect the travel situation to be a detriment if you lived there. Plus it sits right at the treshold to the Setouchi area for weekend trips, which is freaking 🌺beautiful🌺.

Before watching this I only knew kobe for their world famous beef. I really enjoyed the walk and the architecture really feels different from the rest of japan. Kind of like a clean and safe version of new york? Lol and the second floor of that starbucks looks so nice and cozy. Would love to visit someday!

I absolutely LOVE the buildings on this walk. Reminds me of San Francisco downtown 40 years ago when I was a kid there. This was a really beautiful walk. Japan constantly amazes me with their resilience and ability to rebuild after natural destruction like earthquakes.

On the maps there looks like a park area, with waterfalls, is north of the Shinkansen station. Maybe it would be a nice place to explore. I think there is also a glass museum.

During our visit to the Kansai region, we skipped Kobe because people (very silly people, I have just realized) told us the only thing worth doing there was eating Kobe beef (which we couldn't afford haha). For our next trip, we'll definitely visit Kobe. Thanks for posting this! I would love to walk these streets at 7AM (my husband would still be snoozing haha). I'd come back to the hotel with some goodies for him to eat when he wakes up. Several train lines to choose from to get around but for tourists, the JR pass is a good deal so that's the line we normally use. I love how you work together to give us information. Shinichi takes care of the running commentary and Satoshi takes care of the data verification--what year was the earthquake? What are the lines we can take to travel back to Osaka? Is it the right time to cross the street?

The last time I was at Kobe, I stubbled upon Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens, it was very memorable. It has an onsen foot bath right at the top and you can enjoy the city view as you soak your feet.

That steel work across from the Starbucks sure is nice. In construction, so much that goes on ALL contributes to the overall strength of a structure. Just putting up the steelwork has dangers. But if it can be done safely, lends a transparency to life. Sure looks nice.

Hello Shinichi san & Satoshi san, thanks for sharing as my family of 3 r planning to visit.
I am concern if its worth the visit wz the impending JR Pass or rail ticket is increasing so much.
We plan to move around Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto would u recommend renting a car instead?
Would u do another Osaka and nearby prefecture anytime soon?

Why do you have to wear a mask outside in fresh air, when you barely see any other people? I think it is kinda strange. Or is it mandatory in Japan?

    • @davidyip6418
      @davidyip6418 6 месяцев назад

It's not mandatory, it's more of a personal preference.
