I have test driven the 2014 Civic, the 2014 Corolla, the 2014 Focus, and the 2014 Mazda3. I am very thorough with my test drives. I test everything in my test drives that I can think of. The interior trim quality, the ease of use and quality of the navigation/head unit, interior and cargo room, road noise, equipment, engine bay layout (for easy maintenance), quality of the ride, steering wheel and control feel, instrument layout, etc. The Civic had the fewest flaws. The only flaws that I found were the seats that weren't as good as either the Mazda 3 or the Corolla S. It would have been nice for a little bit more bolstering. I didn't like the lack of a dedicated volume knob since I didn't like the touchscreen volume controls. Also, the Civic doesn't come in a hatchback model. Sure the others will do some things better than the Civic, but the Civic is the best all rounder by far.
Make sure you drive the 2014 HONDA CIVIC EL-L with NAV. YOU will have NO regrets and the updated styling FINALLY is there:) Just drive it! MAZDA is nice having driven this class and model for a while, however, HONDA is JUST the RIGHT choice and HONDA just is DEPENDABLE NOT like MAZDA (but funner to drive)
The problem I have with the EX-L with Nav is that it is rather expensive. Personally, at that price point, I would upgrade to the Accord which is the nicer car. As for the Mazda, I took issue with the road noise, the wheels are too small on the i models, didn't like the mounting of the touch screen, and it gets expensive when you go for a higher trim.
Nice review. I have a 2014 Civic LX and after owning several Toyotas I can confidently say this is the best car I ever have Very reliable low cost car. Even more a car than the current Civic model with useless technology and a less appealing looks.
This is a very honest review, thank you for doing it. I am deciding whether to buy a Hyundai Elantra or a Civic. My only concern with the Civic, like yourself, is that volume control on the screen. Oh well at least it's on the steering wheel too because that screen volume could get annoying very fast.
I looked at Elantras and Sonatas. Browse the certified pre-owns and look at the carfaxs. Every Hyundai had some kind of problem you wouldn't expect on a two year old car with 25k miles. Headliner, exhaust, suspension problems. Perhaps their year 14s are more reliable but I doubt it. 10 year /100k warranty is nice but I don't want to have to get major repairs every 6 months.
I don't like the touch screen volume control either- seems like I always use the control on the steering wheel for that. One thing about this car that's kind of non-ergonomic, the thing next to the driver seat to open the gas lid, you have to reach way down and then push down on it.
I have a 2014 civic and backup camera isnt on all civics like he says, i have an lx and it has no backup camera or blindspit camera. ***and i hate my cvt.***
i like how this car has leather power heated seat. from a civic, that's pretty surprising. has all the luxury features like the acura, lol actually its better than my old acrua, except the engine..
Does all of these features also come on the civic here in the Middle East? Im currently in the united arab emirates i want to own one of these but i want to know first if the features like the lane watch and the back up camera are also standard on the civics here..any thoughts?
My goal is not to copy saabkyle my goal is to help people choose a decision in car buying which my motto is car buying made easy, if you think this is copying saabkyle just because I'm going over the cars features of the car and doing a first person review then you are most certainly wrong. My most recent videos are way different then saabkyles in fact the only similarities we share is going over the features and doing it in first person he has a different way of doing his reviews.
I brought this 2014 civic ex and I love it. You cant get wrong with a honda.
I have never seen an HDMI port in a compact car ever..pretty neat

I just can't understand why there is no volume knob? That is so weird.

I am in quebec canada and lx does not have camera. Check honda dealer terrebonne quebec website.
Check on Honda's website in the U.S. and you will find the Civic has a standard backup camera. The Civic we tested was a U.S. Civic.
Does it still have the sliding armrest just like the 2013 Civic does?
Yes
