Some windows 7 users might be facing an error while following this video. If it occurs to you, then it is because latest version of VirtualBox doesn't support older version of windows 7 at all. I tried to downgrade from 6.1.16 to 6.0.24 and it worked. Thank you for the video btw.
That`s awsome Saki :) you explain courses in a really cool and simple way! I will definitely follow you,i`m so eager to watch your next videos Good luck
You really helped me man. I didn’t have enough storage on my partitioned windows disk on my Mac so I made a copy of it and my iso file to my external hard drive and it worked! Thank you! Any more videos?
such along installation I waited and waited till I see an error but I got no errors installed perfectly, Thanks for sharing this with us Subscribed and liked too keep the good work man.
I really appreciate the the exxplaination is.... Really I mean. Its a patience and understanding the audience knowledge level too. Thanks Saki I liked the explanation. Thank you
Thanks m8 great tutorial. I only ran into problem "This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected and i686 CPU. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU." and then i just restart computer, went to BIOS , turned on virtualization, and then changed the ubuntu x32 to ubuntu x64 (there wasn't option for x64 version until i enabled virtualization). :D
Like i said in comment, turn on "virtualization technology" (or something like that) in BIOS. (you can go to bios by holding ESC, Delete, F2 or some other key (it depends on the system you are running currently) while the computer is powering on). So once you turn on virtualization technology boot normally, turn on virtual box and change the Ubuntu x32 to Ubuntu x64 in Virtual Box settings.

Gamsa, this was very likely your problem. Go to the ubuntu website > desktop tab > download ubuntu > Alternative downloads and torrents > scroll to BitTorrent section > find 32 bit version of OS to use as it looks like VirtualBox free will not let you use the x64, only x86 (32 bit).
Argh :( With all due respect to your hard work and very clear video. I watched the video and others several times to make sure I understood everything. I'm running Win 7 on a 64bit 0/S. I'm aware you did this video in 2013 and now it's 2017, and that it's the same steps. I tried several times to get 16.04.2, 17.04 and even went the the alternative sites to try to get a 64bit Ubuntu file. I dl (downloaded) them all as all of them were 32bit? Does this mean that this version won't do 64bit? I don't feel comfortable to go into the BIOS to make any changes. I've pretty well have given up as I've spent many hrs to try to get this up and running. If you can help me I would appreciate it as I would like to check out Linux. Thank you for your time to read this and I look forward to your reply or to anyone out there who would like to help me.
Hello - I know I'm watching this video a long time after you made it, but I do have a question. Could anyone answer this? In specific, you showed that while installing Ubuntu, it said that it would remove all files on the disk, right? But didn't you specify the size of the virtual disk ahead of time? So, if your disk is 1 TB, for example, and you allocate 250 GB for the Virtual box which will host Ubuntu, will Ubuntu really reformat the whole 1 TB? Or will the Virtual Box have created a 250 GB "holding area" for the new virtual machine, which Ubuntu's installer will then somehow "clear"? Also: do you know if the Virtual Box and Ubuntu can work acceptably on a USB 3.0 external hard drive (instead of an on-board hard drive) Thank you for any answers!
The drag and drop operation is not working on Oracle Virtual Box even after reinstalling the Guest Additions. I am using Windows 8.1 as the host and guest OS. Please tell me why the drag and drop is not working?

+sakitech Thanks for this tutorial. Question: If I install, say, Ubuntu Mate into a Windows virtualbox... 1) Could I have linux displayed full screen on my second monitor, whilst having Windows/Chrome displayed on my laptop screen (with forums/tutorials/RUclips/chat room), and move between the two while I'm initially setting up Ubuntu? 2) Once set-up, could I then migrate the Ubuntu installation out of the virtualbox and onto its own partition, like a normal, proper install? Thank you.

thanks, i just did this following your guide. i had to download the 32-bit ubuntu, because thats all that's available in my virtualbox drop down menu during installation. then i have a problem with the Ubuntu desktop screen being way too small in the Virtualbox window, so i am trying to install that "guest additions" thing now. I saw it mounted as a CD in my Ubuntu desktop automatically, i didnt do anything. maybe this will give me a larger resolution so i can see the whole desktop properly.
worked!! after installing that "guest additions" software thing i reboot the ubuntu OS. now it is huge full screen taking up the entire virtualbox as big as i want to make it. SWEET.

by the sound of it, you are using a 32bit architecture trying to use 64bit OS on virtualbox.
You have to enter your bios . Look it up
