Eli Guy is the God,and kei korono is angel ;)
Thank you.

This is really helpful Eli, you know in my country South African you only do an internship once and not allowed to apply for another one again, so you try and learn as much as possible, the challenge is when there's not much to learn especially if the company is small and not really IT based so it's a challenge, after i'm done with this internship I have to look for a proper job and yet I still feel empty. you are teaching me a lot. I enjoy watching your videos, God bless you.
"I think by 2020 everyone will be on Linux" yeah that didn't work out...
Not at all lmao

6 Years ago was a scary time.
I am in Africa right now and the speed is 120kbs, i envy those 38 minutes
charlie kob Africa is a continent, please specify with countru you are in Africa.
there is fast Internet connectivity in many African countries that I have visited, example: Senegal,South Africa, Kenya etc...
Try 64 megs ROM of The Legend of Zelda for several evenings.
This video is almost 9 years old, Thank you Eli, it still works since then for education purpose.
so easy to understand and he repeats information which is really great! Best computer class on the web.
Requesting an updated series on Linux! I'm a super noob, firing up an old laptop, cleaning it up, and installing Linux for the first time. If there are important changes to the product in the last five years that aren't reflected in this video, then an updated vid would be awesome. Btw loving your channel!
Google and Install "WUBI"... this will allow you to dual boot easily between windows and Ubuntu Linux.
ICrucial point in the installation process is, in my opinion, preparation of disc. if you are smart enough to make separate partition for home, you will have better working computer and if system crushes, you can always always rebuild it form scratch. Every guide such as this should point this out.
Just want to say thank you Eli for the great classes. Have been using Ubuntu for long time and the way you teach is by far the best. Please keep it coming. Terry
hello sir,
you are the senior sir of the sir, around the world ,i learn from you a lot i hope others too and your way to explain it's very crystallize, and your hard work and effort to other, the very expensive time that you giving to this world that is your great and big manner

Is it only me or the audio is out of sync?
It is out of sync for some parts sadly ;-;
man i just love the way to teach. ... Simply amazing......
yep, cool guy. I like how he breaks complicated things down and shows the essence of what people need to know.
Im a firm believer in strong foundation knowledge,1 thread missing can be your worst nightmare or trip u up interlectually. Thanks for reminding me to go back to bare roots learning - 1 2 3 to A B D I am investing the whole time required take every class/webinar from Eli, I note take - I pause if necessary but I will not skip a class to think I'm jumping ahead - The skip will haunt me somehow, somewhere. Only a true Master knows each thread intimately - Thank you for reminding me how to learn
love all your vids mate, inspirational, technical yet easy to follow for the basic to intermediate user. keep it up I have learnt so much and will continue to watch and learn. is there anything you don`t know?? thanks for sharing your knowledge to us all...
@TheJavido Yep... Just use "terminal" and you can run all of the commands. With linux there are a lot of things the GUI simply won't do.
Like?
Zorin is a very polished system that imitates Windows 7 quite well. I give it two thumbs up.
Zorin looks interesting... I've always disliked their software licensing clause though... the whole it's your responsibility to know if the software license is legal in your country is concerning.
Its strange to wonder I think because anyone can download it and because it is an attempt to imitate Windows 7, how often would anyone expect to have to pay for it without charitable contribution, without some type of substantial profit being the outcome?
+Jeffery Suchomel "Disclaimer Zorin OS includes some software (e.g. media codecs etc.) for countries whose legislation doesn't allow software patents to be enforced.
It is your responsibility to know your own country's legislation."
This just does not make me feel over comfortable. I completely understand if other people don't care though...
+Eli the Computer Guy Im going to try trustix, because I want to make an unhackable Minecraft client everyone needs a VM LOL.
+Omar Kazi (OAKSIF) Be aware that with MMO game servers like Minecraft, even if the server OS is hacker resistant, the game server software equally vulnerable regardless what OS it is running on. For example, Minecraft servers, in particular, are vulnerable to JSON attacks.
Using Virtualbox + Ubuntu Server is super-easy to setup and great way to study Linux (server).
Virtualbox runs in your Windows OS, simultaneously, as any Windows program would.
Fedora is a version of Linux. It's based on the foundational Linux OS. You should watch Eli's "Introduction to Linux" video He lays the groundwork by explaining the history of the systems.
Thank you very much. Your lessons are very clear and simple to understand. You are created to teach.
It's just excellent. It's for new guys no advanced. Greetings Eli.
Heheh.. Norsk Bokmål are one of the two written languages in Norway. Now you know that, Eli :-) Thanks for good videos, by the way.
Norsk Jävlel.
what I learned from thise lecture: if someone asks you ANY question in real life, answer "yes" and then "usa" and you are good to go with every life situation :D
I love this guy... always nice explainded expessially for someone like me ho came from constructionworker to ict-learing. ( throw operations on both knees.)
Dear Eli,
Thank you very much for your videos and the time you take to post them. They are very helpful.
I have a question (not troubleshooting):
I want to build a Minecraft server for commercial use (starting private, but ultimately making money). I was thinking of using Linux server as the base, and then going from there. I am a bit lost in some of this stuff though, and I am new to it all. Am I even looking in the right direction?
I do not need a detailed response, I would just like to know if I am heading down the right path.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Timothy Puder
I'll try it myself, knowing a bit about Linux myself. I'll get back to you on that.
Love your videos man and all your classes. I suggest you put time-markers in the description so that we can skip the intro.
Excellent Linux installation.Show how to install Linux in servers is really cool because at Data Center Technician should know how to install this software.
Just realized how fortunate we are now that we can download an entire OS in a few minutes. Even less if you have really good Internet.
28:48 It's too bad you were wrong with you're prediction. We're almost in 2020 and Windows and Mac are nowhere near the trash can. Apple hardware quality is trash now, but that's another issue. Windows 10 and Mac OS X are sticking around a while longer. You could say that Linux has been very successful, if you count the success of Android. But it isn't taking over the desktop/laptop PC market at all.
Excellent channel and work. Most profficent way of teaching - repetition is mother of acquiring knowledge. Keep your work man !!! Thx
i am at the beginning to watch this vid, if ve wtached your introduction..you are really cool, what an amazing teacher ..best wishes man ..

Eli: "Lovely"

Eli you keep saying Linux is not quite there for general use but frankly Mint 18.3 is doing for me what Windows 7 and 10 have been doing for years with out the rot, expense, activation codes, loads of AV programs to keep one "safe" plus the addon ones plus the intrusiveness that comes with Windows 10 and that is the one main feature that has driven myself and my friend to go with Linux. We find it gets so much easier to use as we go along. Now I have to add that I did try Ubuntu and Linux Mint way back when it seems to me if my memory serves me right there was so much more to do with the terminal commands and that was what put me off then now I find it as i have said before I can do whatever I ant in Linux even have an AV on board
I have tested about eight different distros now and frankly some are a tad weird and are not for me and I have had a few glitches but mainly with apps and programs being run on our machines so I feel somehow you are trying to kind of talk us out of using Linux OS's or am I just imagining this?? As for the server stuff well mate it is some really weird stuff because with out graphics where is the pleasure is doing anything on the computer. Admittedly I have never tried the server version and if what you are saying about graphical interfaces is right - no RUclipss ?? that would be like losing my false teeth and be presented with salted peanuts to eat!! !! Plus why would anyone with half a brain consider folks like myself who use the desktop version inferior because I think that they are living in lala land which to me would be so boring.
Eli you are great, i am thankful to you for giving such a nice explanation. From long i was looking for such kind of Linux video tutorials.
Hello. I use Linux for myself and I can tell you for sure that not all Windows applications work on Linux. It is about compatibility on the game/program designer's part as you said.
BUT because some people wanted to run windows apps on Linux, wine was developed .. Let's say it adds "libraries" that allow linux to execute windows functions(on low level I mean) like it was windows and many programs(not all) can run on it fairly well, including quite a few games.
After you follow those steps Ubuntu is just like any other operating system and is a vary good OS for anyone. I also got king soft but theirs no real need since libre office is available. Power point is in king soft though. I also got other add ons like skype but all of that is available in the Ubuntu software center. All of this is vary simple and once you have done all of this Ubuntu works vary vary well. hope this helps.
Hey,
great videos so far. Even though to me its pretty clear what youre talking about, wheter I'm not speaking english as a first language.
Youre structure is very good and the speed of your persentation is slow enough to get the poit.
Thanks for sharing this!
I really like your lessons
You might want to do a Search on YUMI it allows you to install several versions of Linux on a flash drive and delete the ones you don't care for. Run from windows download and install on the flash drive the version of Linux you want to try out and boot from the flash drive. Simple and it dosen't affect your hard drive in your system.
u are really nice teacher in the entire USA
Bruh he said that he predicts by 2020 everyone will be on Linux... it’s 2020 lol
It's 2% from 1% on desktops
you have your outs like USB, Monitor, mouse, keyboard and stuff. So your CPu has to give them address using part of this combination. So if you have 4GB of RAM and you're using a 32bit OS, you won't use the whole RAM, cuz your computer has to give address to the outs, it depends on how many outs you have on your computer, in most computer it is about 1 GB, I think.
in 64 bit you have MUCH more combinations, and then you can address the outs and your RAM and your out, cuz you have MUCH more space
i have a backtrack 5 distro built from the ground up. i wouldnt give it up for the world. it works amazing...
Ubuntu rocks - I use it for local dev, not crazy about it for a server, but it's workable
Eli ! you are awesome. One of best instructor. I will give you 5 star which is the best. Great teaching style. Thank you.
you can also use, Oracle's Virtual Machine called 'virtual box', I think Virtual Box is more widely accepted than WUBI
The Best Teacher I ever Seen
Eli the Computer Guy - can you upload something and everything about spacewalk server? what its used for and what it offers and all that good stuff
Hi Eli, its very difficult to find the next class in youtube....would appreciate ...if you tell us in the end of each class what class would be next video so that we can search for it. ..
Nice video about linux server version and desktop version and how it is installed and how it works. very much thanks.
Heres another helpful tool for using your webcams. GTK UVC video viewer. Its in the Ubuntu software center....
It's awesome these videos you're doin'. Easy to get them and I know that if I had to pay for this kind of class, It'd cost a lot!! Many thanks to you!!
eli the computer guy awesome upload dude
Hey, Eli, thanks for the simple installation class! BTW do you do jiu-jitsu? it's because the ear, :-)
Take care.
Watching this video series to fill some time after finishing his recent Linux series and this one is just hilarious at this point.
Please do a video where you install a difficult-to-install distro like Arch, Gentoo or Debian. You cant learn anything doing just a graphical install, people need to know how to use fdisk and how to configure everything by hand.
just wanted to say thanks man for your help! this is really useful for my IT study over here.
a bit can have two values 0 or 1.
32 bit means that you have 2^32=4294967296 combinations or 4294967296 bytes
64 bit means that you have 2^64=18446744073709551616 combinations combinations or 18446744073709551616 bytes
You may asking...but WHAT THESES NUMBERS MEAN?
Your CPU has to give address to EVERYTHING on your computer. So if you have a computer with 32 bit, it means that you can address aprox 4GB of RAM memory, however you need to know that you don't have only memory on you computer...
I think anyone can use linux ubuntu 14.04. If you can use windows you should be able to use ubuntu and it works great for normal use. Now gaming wise its not the best because of comparability issues. After you install Wine things get better but honestly you still need windows for gaming.
Hey Eli! Can you make or do you already have a video on how to do a dual install for Windows and xubuntu for beginners? Thanks bunches!!!
hey nice man..can i intall the desktop version and then use the terminal to learn the commands that u teach.Or should i install the server version. Is using the server version equal to the terminal in desktop version
Second part .. But also, it depends on the graphics card .. Well, not the card itself, but mostly the drivers. And the ones Nvidia offers ( according to what I read, because I have AMD so no guarantee :) ) offer very good performance on windows games through, sometimes even better than windows. You can find feedback about how compatible a game is with wine through many sources, including youtube. There might be a couple glitches though .. In AMD there's often lower framerates though ..
Thanks for the videos, But since UEFI motherboards are becoming more popular, how about doing an install video where the computer has UEFI, GPT partitions, and secure boot? And the partitioning scheme for this on Archlinux.
Good job man, you get a thumbs up from me.
I'm just going to assume that instead of burning ubuntu on to a disk, you can just download it on an SD card or something
Your OS has to be 64 bits and your CPU has to support this 64 bit, this is the basic different. One very important difference is that in a 32 bit OS everything that is stored in your RAM will ocupy 32 bits, or 4 bytes. and in 64 bits, it will ocupy 64 bit or 8 bytes. That means that, in theory, 64 bits is better cuz you can get more byte at a time, but in the other hand, if you need to store only 2 bytes, you will lose 6 bytes that you are not using, but you are holding. Hope this helps you.
I agree - THE BEST TEACHER !!!
just click on the "Eli the Computer Guy" link which will take u to his youtube channel ,from there you can see all of his videos and playlists.
Can i use my smartphone storage instead usb flash drive to install linux?
Ilija Andrejic no
Well actually maybe if you can hook it up via usb
you can use thumb drive to boot off and install...no need for DVD or CD.
zcarenow م copy iso and Decompressing on DVD
I hope that you will redo this series for todays "standards"
depends on your hardware.
yeah I got the same issue. But now I'm following the Playlist of his channel. Works pretty fine. :)
Do you still think the Ubuntu is not good enough for desktop or the upgrades throughout 2 years changed your mind?
Awesome. Thank you Eli!
Better than my IT instructor.
Thank you so much ! So many aspects that is very important for us geeks :)
All well written Windows programs will work under "wine" on a Linux machine. Linux is way picker about doing things like accessing memory that is not owned by the program so a lot of software with that sort of bug won't work under wine. If the program is free give it a try.
I thank god for you Eli !!
Fantastic! Instructor. Thanks Eli. Please continue the great work. Terry Hamilton
If you are on windows you can use free programs such as "cdburnerXP", "ImgBurn" or "infrarecorder".
You do not need special options to make a bootable CD. The Linux .iso File Images allready have everything on board you need. Just tell your CD Burner programm to burn an image to a CD.
Do NOT make a new Data CD and put the .iso file on it. That will not work!
Linux Mint is now the most popular distribution.
Great explained, thanks Eli!!!
Excellent teacher. Excellent achievement. very well done!
I love you, Eli.
Thanks
Dear Eli- its great
nice presentation.Keep it up
I downloaded first to a disk(yeh i was doing it wrong lol i think) then i jus took it from the disk ans put on my desktop then from there i downloaded the linux universal usb installer and installed it and it runs fine from usb.I could get on the net ans still use all the apps, when i restarted i had to press f12 and boot it from my usb drive.I like it alot i think im gonna make it my main pc operating system(on my secondary pc ofc lol).My main pc will stay windows 7 secondary is for testingxd
@jlirx use boot repair tool in linux , search it and install it and run it , easy
an oven is okay, but what if the disc falls through the grates? I usually use a General Electric toaster to burn my cd's, as you don't run the risk of having a cd fall to it's demise, it is just simply resting on it's side in the toaster.
Where are you now Eli?
pawel G it sey biginner man ,Eli you greet whit the explications that a starther can learn , keep this way .Thanks.
I am curious cause u got an interesting lisp i got one too but it is different and i want jaw surgery but.... what happens to you personally when you lisp? hope you wouldn't mind answering.
You can play some Steam games on Linux (Team Fortress 2 was just recently released for it), but there aren't very many (a little over 100). You're probably better off sticking with Windows for games.
or you can put the image on a USB Drive IF your computer can boot from USB Flashdrives.
do you have to do something to the CD to make it bootable, or do you just burn the ISO to it?
What a video , hi is the best instructor ever
Hi Eli... When I enter any Linux command in Terminal window, it saw me logged-in as a guest... FYI in case if that helps.
Hi there, great class! Very helpful for a Linux beginner like me. However, I'm having issues with logging in. Just after the install was completed, I wanted to login with my account I just created. However, I'm constantly getting the error "Login incorrect" I'm 100% sure I'm typing the correct username/password (not "root" but the actual username I had to create) Tried it countless times. What's going on here? Couldn't find a helpful answer so far.
