Ingredients ♡ 5 largish tomatoes 2 tbs of olive oil 3 tbs of minced garlic 1/2 tsp oregano 1 tsp of cayenne pepper 1 tsp of black pepper 2 tsp of salt ( Start off with this amount and add to your taste as you go along) 4 tbs of tomato paste 5-6 basil leaves 2 tbs of sugar (it depends how acidic your sauce is) You can increase the amount of seasoning to your taste For all of you who are asking about the tomato paste. You can make your own by simply, blanching some tomatoes and remove the skin. Blend it up in a food processor. Cook it in a pot by itself for ten minutes. Strain it to get out the seeds. Then pour it onto a large baking tray into the oven at a low temperature until it has turned into a paste. This is really sweet btw....its like a candy I also dont recommend adding any more water as tomatoes already have a ton of water
My second pot of this sauce is cooking now. I really don't think any of the folks who commented previously actually made a pot of this sauce. First off, I used tomatoes from my garden. I wouldn't recommend using store-bought tomatoes (which is my best guess for why previous comments said they threw out the whole pot). I omitted the tomato paste and did not add any water at all. I let mine cook for about 5 hours... and it is worth every minute! This sauce is absolutely delicious. My hubs and I have been to Italy and wanted to try our best shot at making the pizzas we made during our cooking class at "Pizza Re" in Rome. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients is the key to real Italian cuisine. This recipe was the closest thing to real Italian cooking we've had since our trip. Last batch, I made 2 pizzas, spaghetti, and even added about 3 spoonfuls to our scrambled eggs (with onion, peppers, a bit of garlic and salt) one morning for the best eggs I've ever had. The pizza was amazing, and so was the spaghetti. There's so much you can do with this sauce if you have the time to make it! Five stars.
I am making this and first try as it was cooking the paste was super strong, but it has been cooking for about an hour so far, and it has really started to mellow and blend, and become a lot better, so the time factor here is really important.
Sandra D the other thing concerning some people who said they did not like how it turned out.. is that pizza sauce is a lot more intense of a flavor, as you just put a thin layer on and it has to have enough flavor to not be lost with everything else.
I make a big batch every year as I always go overboard with tomato plants. Let cook and put in to freezer bag, squeeze out the air and lay flat in freezer. When needed snap of a price and warm up in pan.
@@edwinmontes6927 I’d say 3 month in the freezer. I do the same with spaghetti bolognese, make a big batch of meat let cool then put in seal bags and freeze.
I am about to give my thumb up when he tossed in the tomato paste! I am sure that is from the can! come on, you said you make non-cancerous stuffs. Canned contains carcinogens. show us how you make the paste!
@@TitoPazWho All the skins removed at the start of the process can be cooked down with some water, blended, then cooked down further on a lower heat setting, you'll get a very tomato paste like result.
Why would you go through the process of making a video, posting it online, calling it "How to Make Homemade Pizza Sauce With Garden Tomatoes" then use Tomato paste out of a can?...... Bad Form Sir!
+Thomas Joseph Thank you! I was just ranting about this to my oldest daughter. I've made homemade sauce using nothing but ingredients from my garden (and a bit of oil) and I just wanted to show her how. I got teed when I saw this.
Hear hear! Whenever an American says, "From scratch" it means that they had to scratch the packet or can open. I had an American friend who bragged that she'd made a cake 'from scratch'. It was a Betty Crocker cake, and she had to add an egg and milk! I will give him points for actually using fresh tomatoes, an ingredient skipped by many American cooks.
When i read 'from scratch' i do not open that video. Where i live we make everything 'from scratch' because that is a normal way of cooking and it doesn't need any special name. This here is a joke, cooking a pizza sauce arghhhhh and when i saw tomato paste.....omfg. Every decent Italian would would puke out .
i would think not since the sugar balnces the sugar and acidity i mean baking soda would have a balancing effect if your only trying to balance the acid, so basically the sugar would be a 2 birds one stone and its generally the most common method if you want to omit the sugar ADD THE baking soda and remember to offset the salt with something as well or just leave it the way it is i would imagine if your watching your sugar intake your watching your salt intake as well tho
Did you keep the boiling water in that pot after the initial tomato boil with the X cuts? Because i didnt see you pour out the boiling water and was wondering if you left it in when you started adding olive oil and the rest of your ingredients
Why doesnt it show how much water to use. Or did he reuse the water to boil the tomatoes to make the sauce. It look like 2 liters of water. . I dunno if i can follow this recipe

There is no garlic in pizza sauce. Also pizza sauce is never cooked. Say its your recipe not a traditional pizza sauce. Cooking the tomato gives a dry pizza.

It would help if you had the camera pointed in the pot so we can see what's going on. That and how much of what ingredient is being used.

How long should I cook it?

Was the boiling water still in there when you added the tomatoes back in?
Yeah im wondering same.. He doesn't even reply
I don't think so...he should have said to dump the boiling water
Using tomato paste kind of defeats the purpose of using fresh...

99% is not accurate. And still I prefer fresh from the garden.

Tomatoes
Tomato paste
4 cloves garlic
2 tbs salt kosher
Tsp oregano
Bunch of fresh basil
2 tbs sugar
Half teaspoon cayenne
Olive oil
All day ? No haha some sauces are made of uncooked tomatoes they cook on the pizza you just need to separate water and flavor well
there wasnt any water left it wouldve been way to liquidly if there was
so you have tasted it, I see!
Two tablespoons of salt! I can feel my arteries hardening just thinking about it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
As he adds 3 pinches of salt... lol
2 table spoons of salt? that looked like 1 teaspoon
the sauce had liquid consistency
