    I picked up one of these and it is a wonderful box. In my opinion, it actually shines even more when used for tracking and printing individual tracks. It is an excellent device for taming some of that digital harshness and giving you various options of tape/analog sound.

    I enjoyed this. I jumped back and forth between 01:00 to 01:40 and also 02:18 to 02:54. you can really hear how the unit thickens and smooths the upper-frequency transients.

    Need a bypass on the face so you can easily switch between the clean stereo signal and colored.

      Track thru it with a mic preamp before Zulu or just mic to Zulu? A mic alone work with Zulu, you need a preamp to gain up the mic INTO Zulu. Pretty similar to a real tape machine. We used the consoles to hit tape, not mics direct.

  • @shadychat

    Hi! Everytime i use my zulu i've got to crank the hell out of the high mids (and lower the bass) with an eq on the printed file to retrieve a similar frequency response to the dry signal. is that normal? Because in your video it seems that the dry vs. wet signals are pretty much similar frequencywise... it isn't as extreme as what i'm experiencing at all. Anyway what a great piece of gear!

    if i put it in the end of the 2bus, can i bypass the whole unit so it doesn`t affect the whole signal ?

    • @langstonmasingale3365
      @langstonmasingale3365  4 года назад

      You can bypass the tape machine on Deck and the Bias circuit by setting it to 6 oclock (clockwise). Its not 100% true bypass but also it would be near impossible to level match since the difference between dry and wet is in excess of 9db at minimum. Sometimes its more like 15db, brutal on the monitors.
