This is great. Apart from high amplitude ippons, there's not much more beautiful to me than a clean footsweep. quick question: for the 2nd and 3rd sweeps with the nearside underhook-- when would we want to go for one over the other? like are there any specific reactions from our opponent that should give us the mental green light for the nearside block trip or the farside sweep trip?
When he lifts his foot, always, if your oponent lifts his leg he isnt expecting to get foot swept he is expecting to stick his leg to the ground and stay stable so if you combine that with a pull of the arm and body to the side his leg was going towards which shouldnt be too hard as his body was expecting to be there in the first place you got your oponent ,a good foot sweep comes out of nowhere if your oponent knows you like to do that stuff he will almost never go down unfortunately haha
Vlad, I've had a ton of success with drilling and applying some of your instructionals (still aiming to make it out to your next camp). What would you recommend against taller opponents? I've been using vertushka/ude gaeshi off of a Russian tie with a decent success rate but would be very interested in your input. Thanks for all the great content, and best holiday wishes.
Andrew Markey thank you sir! I will host a camp in mid May. Hope to see you there! As far as your question-leg attacks on taller people is my go to. Plus body locks and some hip techniques
Love the techniques, I have used them in them in training a lot! What would your be your best advice for a very tall but skinny grappler in terms of specific techniques be? Would love to hear your opinion, thanks :)
Оператор пожалуйста снимай в полный рост всегда , не режь картинку . И добавьте русские субтитры , я знаю что Вы говорите по русски , всё таки из России Вас тоже смотрят.
Derwin da Destroyer for the first technique, do not push them so much that they step back. Only push them slightly, so their weight goes to their heels.
Joshua there are different sweeps. The one you’re referring to is called “sasae tsurikomi ashi” where you’re moving uke’s upper body by propping his leg which has the weight on
it might look like if you were sweeping it, but "sasae tsurikomi ashi" means "block thorwing leg/foot", thorwing by blocking the foot or something, first you block it, then you do the turn, the opponent would want to go to the direction of the blocked foot, however, that foot will be blocked, wich means that his upper body will move, but his lower body won't, causing him to get thrown. I'm sorry if my english redaction weren't as good, i'm kind of sleepy. With love, a judoka
Vlad's instructional videos for no-gi throws/takedowns are unparalleled.
Cole T thank you ☺️

Joe Wakey foot sweeps are certainly “tailor made” for taller guys. Plus harai goshi and uchi mata

when all his weight is on one leg how can I move it? i always thought I'm kicking the leg who has no balance, no weight
