I have had a VS265 since the 90s. Just recently got an AVT150. Both are good pedal platforms.

The combo surprisingly (at least to me) sounded meatier here than the 8100, I like the combo better. Very interesting shootout, excited for when you compare the 8100 with the VS100!

Cool shootout! Kind of an upper vs. lower mids things between the combo and head. Would probably be a cool blended tone. Killer riffs too!

Prices seem to be going up every day on the valvestate amps.
I don't have my 8100 anymore. But you can get JCM 800 like tone with contour set at 9:00
The 8100 has a more mid open sound than the 265, but something about the 265’s scooped tone sounds more aggressive in this mix.

Well then something is wrong with that 8100. Probably needs a new tube. Because my 8100 sounds way heavier than that. I have a VS also and the tube went out so it made it sound real middy
I’m thinking somethings wonky in the effects loop, Cuz on it’s own sounds gnarly🤷♂️
@@brokenlevelmusic who knows maybe. I just remember when my VS sound took a dump. I took it in and it was just a tube. I do think the 8100 sounds better than VS 100, but both sound great when you put an EQ through the fx loop. It seems like the 8100 has a better mid tone where the VS loses that mid tone at high volumes.
John Browne from Monuments does a review on the 8100 and it sounds heavy as hell. Go check it out.

@@brokenlevelmusic really?!???? are you serious.... wow what the heck my minds blown then. my 8100 has a ton of top end so I would’ve swore it was the other way around. i’m in shock. the 8100 here sounds super muddy in comparison
