I actually started learning Swedish because of young royals. I've watched the show over 30 times (sounds crazy, but it is true haha) and it's my comfort show and I really enjoy it! I started watching it 9 months ago but 4 months ago I realized that the language is so beautiful, and I wanted to learn it and when I found your RUclips channel, I was so happy because I knew I was in the right hands when it came to learning Swedish!!! Thank you so much
hey me too! like I thought i wrote that comment for a sec almost exactly except I don't think I've watched it that many yet but certainly a helluva lot definitely more than the actual actors have watched it haha. i was going through a stressful time and it was just joy and i also didn't want to stop listening to Swedish and I realised that i just loved the language. I remember one of my lessons saying that swedes don't really say snalla as sorry because its kind of whiny which i thought was hilarious because willie says it all the time and was the first word i learnt. I especially love how similar it is to English and honestly the words feel more right in my mouth than English does and i am a native English speaker. I love these guys too they are so smart and fun so its really easy to learn just with their interviews etc. but I'm ready for some Swedish music (any suggestions?)and maybe radio. iI know there is a platform where you can listen to radio from anywhere around the world so ill have to find that.
So far I've watched the frist 5 Episodes of Young Royals. Unfortunately not even with Swedisch Subtitles. I watched the series in Native Language: German. İn German we also use the Word Gymnasium to describe High School. Internat Skolan (Svenska) - Internat (tyska)
I originally intended to watch Young Royals in the English dub, but it didn't feel right, so I switched to Swedish with English subtitles, as I usually prefer hearing the original language. As a speaker of Swiss German, I noticed many similarities to my native language's vocabulary and syntax and it piqued my interest. I've been learning Swedish since then and also discovered your channel. Btw, I noticed a small mistake in the video: you called both Edvin and Omar by Omar's last name, Rudberg. Edvin's last name is actually Ryding.
Fun Facts about Omar Rudberg: - Simon is his acting debut - he was Part of a boy Band which toured with İnternational Stars in the likes of Justin Bieber and One Direction - As a Solo Artist he participated in Melodifestivalen/ The Swedish Eurovision National Selection in 2022
Also guilty, I wanted to learn Swedish as soon as I started watching Young Royals. Thank you for talking about the slang because google translate is not very good for that! I love saying chilla, it's more fun than just "chill"
Oh yeeees) I am the one who started learning Swedish because of Young Royals😅 I watched 1 season in october, and then on 1 of november I watched the whole second season and a few days later I just found myself starting Duolingo Swedish course)) I really like the language, how it sounds (despite it is hard to imitate🙈) And of course it provoked interest for the country. I already knew that Sweden was close to my values and now many things confirm this) (sometimes it makes me wanna cry because my own country (Russia) is now extremely far from being that adequate)
omg when i tell you how quick i clicked this!!! I've been learning since last year and i love young royals (hence my pfp) and i really aspire to try and understand a bit of the new season & interact w the swedish young royals community! jag älskar young royals och tack så mycket för detta 💝
Tack för den här videon. Jag började plugga svenska efter jag såg Young Royals, så det betyder mycket för mig. Jag älskar alla dina videor och de har hjälpt mig för mycket.
Omg tack så mycket för making this video. I started learning Swedish a few weeks ago purely because of Young Royals and want to learn enough so I can understand some of season 3 at least. I’ve not watched the video yet but I cannot wait to!!
I learned a little bit of German a few years ago to visit family in Germany who don’t speak English, and when I watched Young Royals, I was surprised to hear the language for the first time and realized it was a Germanic language with a lot of similarities to German. When I first saw the show pop up on Netflix, I was skeptical how I’d feel about it simply for the fact that it was in Swedish and I kind of expected it to sound less cute than it does 😂 But the show hooked me and I watched it multiple times, sometimes with Swedish subtitles. I learn Swedish from your channel and other YTers and on Duolingo and so far it’s been really fun!
That sounds like a great Language love story 😍. The mix of Swedish sound with Swedish subtitles is great! (Specially for rewatching shows). It enters your brain from 2 different sides 😁. Hej Daniella!
Just realized you posted this the day after I decided to start watching Young Royals to practice my Swedish listening skills (just started learning Swedish about two weeks ago). What a fun coincidence! 😁
She said Omar’s last name with Edvin’s first name :) so it’s not how you pronounce it! Ryding is pronounced more like “reading” although obviously not quite!
@@hotscarysummer8072 that was what I heard but I wasn´t sure. I´ve heard Edvin say something like reading, I guess the letter G at the end it´s what makes me doubt... but may be it´s just the RG combination that sounds Y... ? Thank you!
That is a great goal! You can always watch with Swedish sound AND Swedish subtitles. (It helps to have both at the same time). Also, It looks like season 3 is on the works alrady. So you can speed up your learning with our video courses 😁. You proably are going to want the whole beginners suite funswedish.teachable.com/p/the-full-beginner-suite1
I got into trying to learn Swedish ages ago because the first person I ever met online like around 1995-1996 just happened to be from Sweden. I just suck at learning languages. I can learn to understand, but not speak.
Yes, In Göteborg and in many other cities in Sweden. I didn't know what "noll åtta" was until I moved to Örebro and they called me this because I was from Stockholm :P
Hey! I am spanish and I started learning swedish for the movies, just when I saw Roy Andersson's films. I fell in love with the swedish language! This month I’ve been learning it for two years. Thanks for your videos!

By the way I've just recently downloaded the SVT play App which Swedish TV as a streaming service. I wachted the Final Melodifestivalen Yesterday. Today I watched Season 1 of The Series Fejk. Malte Myrenberg Gårdinger (August) & Frida Argento (Sara) are in the cast of Fejk.
Honestly... the camera is just a phone 😅. Editing software... depends on the video. Adobe premiere pro in most cases nowadays. But we went a long time using Final Cut pro.
A week after I started taking my lessons this year, I went on a hunt for cool content to watch. First I went for the miniseries *Clark,* about the infamous Clark Olofson, which is absolutely fantastic and irreverent. It stars Bill Skargård at his best and it's just something you can't miss! But alas! Clark was short and I needed more. So I went the risky romcom way and started *Kärlek & Anarki.* And I fell in love. It's also very innovative, irreverent and VERY ADULT. I had to go on a hiatus after first season, because I was binge watching so much! So these are my two recommendations. Apparently, Swedes are very good at creating content.
Since you obviously really speak Swedish and I am only learning I hate to try and correct you. But you gave Edvin Omar's last name. Which was too bad because I hear so many people mispronounce Edvin's last name. I have even heard Edvin pronounce it (English pronunciation, I think) as Rhy-ding. When it's actually (in Swedish) somewhere between Reed-ing and Red-ing with that weird Swedish "y" sound. More like Reh-ding. But I'm still learning.
