  • Note; Sorry for the sniffles I'm recording with my phone in one hand and I didn't realize how annoying it was until I watched it. I may re-record it.
We were looking to get a larger roto-molded heavy duty cooler to add to our collection. I'm comparing this with our existing yeti 55. in summary it's a strong good looking pretty well designed cooler that should hold ice about as effectively as any of the competitors with the 2-in foam insulation and rubber sealed lid. the vacuum vent is a great feature that not all coolers have and I can tell you from experience or yeti has occasionally gotten a vacuum lock That keeps the lid from opening unless you exert additional force or crack the drain plug slightly. speaking of the drain plug that is the one feature that is giving me second thoughts about this cooler. It says it's recessed on the marketing materials but if you look at it it sticks out not just a little but quite a bit from the edge of the cooler body. So much so that when it was delivered the plug had actually poked a hole through the side of the box. The food tray is an optional accessory and worthwhile in my opinion although they don't hold a ton It does work well for things you want to keep right on top and out of any ice or water. at the time of this video I paid a little over $300 on sale supposedly directly from frosted Frog. The wire basket was an additional $10 and well worth it in my opinion. I should also note in this description that rubber latches take a considerable effort to open and close. I have measured the force needed by hanging weight from the latches of the yeti and a frosted frog. My older yeti the latches are quite simple and easy to operate with a 10 lb release pressure. defrosted frog on the other hand has a very firm rubber latch and it took a 25 lb weight to release them so that you can open or close the lid. being a middle-aged man and reasonable shape who does a lot of activities it still takes me a bit of a grunt to operate defrosted frog rubber latches. something to consider if you are lightly built or have any kind of disability. They may loosen up with time I'm not exactly sure how that's going to play out.

Have the locks gotten any easier to use?

Well yes slightly but I have discovered there are many replacements available on various websites, although I have not tried them. If it was loaded and turned over as large as it is you'd want stiffer ones. In retrospect.

@@dirkdaddy2 Great to know. I hope they do bring their product line to the US. I would prefer to wait with that china stamp on it. Thanks for the info.

I can't find a tray to fit my frosted frog 45 cooler. Where did you get yours?

@@Pixandpok I just ordered it with the cooler at the same time. They sell them separately too. The yeti one fits fairly well not perfectly as I show in there in the video. The frosted frog one is quite a bit lighter weight which can be a positive or a negative depending on how you look at it.
