This speech made me a bit emotional. I really related to it. I've struggled with extreme shyness my whole life. Any social situation makes me want to hide or cry. Talking to anyone including my own family members can make me so nervous that my voice shakes and all the thoughts fall out of my head. Public speaking is almost impossible for me. I've had to give 5-10 minute speeches in college and I start shaking so much it's hard for others to understand what I'm saying. I feel like I'm the version of this man who is scared and wanted to stay at his covert zone but my comfort zone means not leaving the house. I'm not okay with that. I don't want that to be my future. I have to change because my life depends on it. I'm going to rewatch this speech as many times as I need to until I can gain some confidence. This man really does put things into perspective. I'm still nervous and my heart is pounding about all the speaking that I'll be doing tonight but after listening to this I can say that I'm embracing the challenge! I'm scared but I'm not giving up.

Glad you could relate to this! I would recommend taking small steps, before a full public speech.
Sometimes the physiological reactions are too strong; I would suggest trying medication along with self-motivation - as a last resort.

I watched this before I had to go speak in front of my church, so about 100 people. as I walked up, I felt relaxed and my voice was a little shaky but I did it and I know I could’ve done better. the thing is though, people aren’t judging you on the small things. even though my voice shaked, a dozen people told me I sis so well and I have such confidence and poise. what we sound like in our heads is not always what other people are hearing and noticing . if you have a speech coming up or presentation , respond to this comment and i’ll try to give you advice relating to your situation! remember to believe in yourself and focus on success, not failure.

When you type "public speaking anxiety" you get a lot of this "motivational" discourses where people of all types are giving pieces of advices on how to overcome this anxiety, how to fight it and be successful.I think that what everyone forgets is that for most of those people dealing with this the problem is deeply rooted and it's not something that you can overcome by seeing this speeches or by practicing.I have been trying in the last 10 years to overcome the anxiety with no success, I've been doing cognitive therapy, I attended public speaking trainings, I gave 5-10 presentations and every single time I had huge anxiety and a big depression afterwards.Even today I have big problems when it comes to delivering a presentation and i have to consume large quantities of energy just for another failure and depression. The problem is not with the anxiety, some people are born this way or they "get ill" during their first years of life, thus the problem will never be solved. The only solution is to change the environment with a new one that is not worsening your anxiety...

I have to give a speech in my public speaking class (forced to take it) in a couple weeks and i'm so scared. I know i'm gonna screw up because i had to give a presentation in my English class earlier in the year and it was terrible. What gets me is when everybody in the class starts looking at me and its all quiet, and I don't why but I my heart just started pumping insanely fast and hard (never felt something like that up until that point, it freaked me out), I began to sweat all over and get hot, and I almost began crying in front of everyone. Luckily I was able to get through because I had a paper to look to and read during the presentation. But now what makes this next speech worse is that I have to memorize it, and I'm getting graded for HOW I give the speech, its a public speaking class after all. I honestly think I may pass out during the speech in front of the whole class, no joke..... just thinking about it makes my stomach hurt :(

Came across this amazing TED Talk today, and I must say, it couldn't get more tremendous. Kudos Animesh and thank you so much. I am a hardcore Introvert and face this issue of public speaking almost all the time. And hell, the only thought which surrounds my head is "oh god, what exactly will people think of me?".
Nonetheless, all thanks to you, I think I have finally able to overcome this fear and will do much better from now onward.
Thank you Sir. It was such a great pleasure and a wonderful experience seeing you speaking about exactly the same problems which is there in my head all the time.
-An Introvert, soon going to be a conqueror, Shiva

In ancient Greece Demosthenes would go to the ocean and attempt to recite orations louder than the waves. Still would be good way for practicing public speaking

Great presentation. I went through the process in my mind, and I was shivering just thinking about it. I left my last school year, the year i have to pass to go to university. I had a weak time because of some stuff, but the thing that made me left was because of a few presentations in front of my class, but mainly because of the end-year exam presentation. Allthough i still think that it is an ugly thing to put a student through this in the most important year, where you have so much to do, so many lifechanging things, it is so important to not hide, not give up, because of a fear of public speaking. I had moments when i could barely talk, my heart pumping so much that i felt a ridiculous pressure in my neck and my head, i heard my heart. Uncontrollable shaking and stutering, disgusting. But as he says, you should NOT run away from this, for me, it almost cost me my life, socially, my partner and many other things. This year i get my second chance at the age of 26, do my last year and finally go study. I realize how big of a chance i've got here instead of beeing miserable. I train myself to look at problems as opportunities to grow, oppuortunities to grow. Don't hide, don't waste your life! I hope somebody feels a motivated. I'm sure i'm not the only one in this situation. Don't throw you life away, it is worth fighting for. I wish you guys reading this and watching these kinds of videos all the best! You'll do it!

I've never spoke in front of a crowd but if I did I would start crying, messing up easy words, and shaking. Same with reading out loud but my voice starts getting shaky and I start getting quieter. This speech made me so emotional.

Excellent. I can relate myself to the man who never wants to speak up publically, though there are always lots of ideas in my mind, they die there itself. I am trying to overcome the fear of public speaking and I am sure one year down the line I'll be a better speaker , a better person than I am today. I don't regret living a life of mediocrity so far , but I'll try to change it. Thank you sharing the video.

I had run away so many times from my college and still I am struggling but have figured it out a lot. When I was 10 years old I was given the opportunity to present a poem in large audience. I got nervous, shaky and couldn’t finish that off. From that moment of life to 2017 April, I always escaped the presentations or speeches. I met Sadhguru on 2017 April at Excel London and learned Shambhavi from him and doing it regularly. Now I feel much better and much confidence. I have spoken few times in group meeting and I have no fear or less fear of anything including death. 🙏🙏🙏😍 My life is owe to Sadhguru.
