Brings back fond memories of working with my friend for a few years on his wood-mizer sawmill. We made a lot of Live Edge beautiful tables, fireplace mantels shelves benches and such. Unfortunately he died of mouth cancer. He was a wonderful friend and devout Christian. He once went to Alaska with just a chainsaw and built himself a log cabin in the wilderness. He could do and build anything much like Jeff. God bless you sir.
Who needs Home Depot or Lowes when you have Jeff Barron, your own timber, and a portable sawmill. Thanks Jeff, you can build or fix anything...preciate ya! Jack from Idaho
Like you I planted my own trees 20 years ago and now I am thinning the stand. Unlike you, I have a chainsaw mill. It works fine for timbers and 8"x8" or 6"x6". Too slow for anything smaller. Watching you convinces me I need a bandmill. Thanks for the great content, love that cabin design and stay healthy!
I like the mill but the coolest thing I like is you are saving the material, drying it and in a lot of cases using it for your own projects like houses and cabins. I like to see someone reap the rewards or savings from their own labor. I like businesses that are smart enough to see where their costs are and rather than just buy from the cheapest manufacturer, they cut out the middle man and become the manufacturer themselves. how one business they started feeds another.
Jeff I thank you for being a real contractor I thank you for taking your time out and telling me how you do it I enjoy watching you Bill I enjoy the Rapport you have with your daughter thank you appreciate y'all
Looking good Jeff! Thats how I built all of my buildings. Best investment I ever made. And how I acquired some hunting woods. No lease for me just cut some boards every now and then.
I've watched other videos on other channels Milling trees but they waste so much wood and you do it right you don't waste any wood I love you videos God bless good luck
Jeff, I just about crapped my self when I noticed you didn't have any gloves on when you would handle the boards and not get any slivers. Good job there Jeff as always.
I really enjoy work when I'm watching Jeff do it😉 Jeff you might need to get you a Bluetooth mic to clip on your shirt so when your working away from the camera we can hear you better. (Your saw mill doe not need one)😂 Thanks for sharing👍👌👍
Could you do a video like a looking back getting started into the carpentery the hunting the fishing just being a good Ol country boy. I’m sure there is a lot of people that would just like to know!
You know that's a pretty good mill you got there Jeff. Looks like it's withstood the test of time. Granted not everyone has the space for a mill on their property but for those who do, man, sure saving some serious money I tell you what. Lol
Have you ever ran any Hardwood through that ? I helped a neighbor refloor his old flatbed truck using some White Oak that he had , I had to use a drill to put a pilot hole in it just to drive a nail ! lol . Hard as Woodpecker Lips !
My 2 nd/great grandfather/ Peter morell Jones had a sawmill on his property when my grandfather Joseph Lester Jones was a young boy. My son has talked to me about us buying one of these types of small saw mill machines. Might just invest some of my 401k money into doing so once I move back to live in the Northeast Tennessee in the tri cities area around johnson city/bristol and kingsport. Could be a good revenue generator in my older years.
How much do these type of mills go for? Would be nice to get something like this when I build a cabin on our farm. I’m 25, and been saving awhile. I’m a apprentice in ibew but know a decent amount of most trades from working growing up. But I’m stuck between building another cabin on our farm and getting a mill. Or buying a few shipping containers and making a cool house out of them. I can weld so that would come in handy with the shipping containers. Anybody that’s older that’s done either of these or own a mill like this can you pay it off pretty quick from cutting and selling wood? Or what would you do a cabin or use containers? People do so pretty cool stuff with them. I’ve got a great spot looking over the Ohio river I plan on building a house this year. We just built our hunting cabin this past year.
How long do you let your logs sit?...and do you dry the lumber any more after you’ve cut?...both you guys are great..can’t wait to see more of the hunting cabin in Kansas
I noticed you didn't remove the bark before milling. Are you concerned a rock or mud might get stuck on the bark and dull your blade? That's a nice set up you have going on there.
Great video! What kind of machine is that and Where did you get it. Would you recommend it or anything you would change about it. How long does it take that to dry before you can use it. Thanks
Hey Jeff, you may have said in a previous video, but what model is your mill and what size motor is on it? I am wanting one for our farm and the size of your mill looks perfect for what I’m wanting! Thanks
And those are real 2X8 not like 1-1/2 X 7 - 1/2 @ Lowe's or home depot or other lumber supply but there not dressed or plained smooth but work just fine and when your set up like Jeff your own mill ,tress saves a lot of $ for sure just a little sweet equality but stay safe , stay healthy , stay busy & say hi to Lisa & Hannah keep the video's coming
Man I was able to help run a mill that was powered by an old straight six military generator engine. It was a fixed blade that had to have been about five feet in diameter. The logs were run through it with some sort a chain driven helper but you still had to help guide em. It was pretty scary.
Not a good wood to use. Its not great for burning or structural use. We cut down most of the ones around our house and we mix them in with our firewood. Primarily oak.
Makes beautiful lumber, but you can’t tame it down. It will turn inside out during drying. The heart is awesome, fresh off the mill though, just warps so bad
Do you use them old pieces your cutting off them logs as a camouflage on hunting blinds? Like to make them blend in out in the woods? Thanks good fast information here.
Jeff, quick question. What do you do with the slabs after you’re done milling your lumber? Do you burn them, sell for pulp wood, or have you ever thought about using them to cover blinds?
This dude is a working machine. Never stops lol
If I could give my kids one piece of advice, it would be to live like this man right here!

Definitely saving money no wasted energy on your part and you jump over them logs like a young man thank you Jeff😜🐝

Nothing like watching. a true craftsman at work.
Not boring at at all watching the mill work.
I love how you help us to remember, we can do it to if we learn how and we see it done. Awesome Jeff thank you!
there's something really enjoyable about watching a saw mill
those skins would look great on the outside of Hannah’s gym .. give it a real log cabin feel
preciate ya Jeff .. watching from Australia
You work for every penny. Your knowledge is worth probably more than you make!

Yes Sir! That machine right there for a Regular Joe trying to make it,is right next to hit the Lotto. Blessings!
That's nice having the equipment to do and make what you want. Definitely save some money especially right now with lumber going sky high.
U are Great Pro...Craftsman Jeff
Terrific job Mr. 👊
The epitome of Self Sustaining 👋🏻😎 Appreciate ya Jeff
Thank you for your time very much like watching your video ☺️🤠
I can almost smell the pine ...another good video Jeff!
As a Blacksmith I find this truly satisfying...

Could you do a video like a looking back getting started into the carpentery the hunting the fishing just being a good Ol country boy. I’m sure there is a lot of people that would just like to know!
Great looking lumber. I would love to get one of those mills. Great video Jeff!
Preciate yall!🦌

A idea for your RUclips site, do you have ways of preserving foods, that would last for decades? It would be a great add in for people!
That slab wood would make some damm nice siding on a camp
Have you ever ran any Hardwood through that ? I helped a neighbor refloor his old flatbed truck using some White Oak that he had , I had to use a drill to put a pilot hole in it just to drive a nail ! lol . Hard as Woodpecker Lips !
Oh yeah! It will walk through oak and hickory in a hurry.
Appreciate you making this video.
Made quick work of that Jeff. Very nice!
Always great videos.
Another thumbs up like always. Next video can you saw the largest log you can on that mill?
My 2 nd/great grandfather/ Peter morell Jones had a sawmill on his property when my grandfather Joseph Lester Jones was a young boy. This looks like a good learning experience
Just found the Channel.. Been looking at Investing in a Sawmill. Mostly Hardwood timber here in NW Mo.
That’s really nice great set up
I would like to see you do a lot more of those very interesting
Yall got them pines that grow like weeds down there.
Nice setup man! Sure do miss Alabama!
hey! you said it wasn't gonna be time lapse! because DAMN you made that look easy for only 8 minutes ;)
You know its bad when ya walk in from the mill and watch someone else run theirs.
Keep em coming, nice work my man!!!
Looks like you push your machinery as hard as you do yourself. Hope your arm is doing well. Thanks for the video Jeff.
Great vid Jeff. Cheers🍺

Seen a lot of beautiful wood. That there driftwood is very pretty.
That rig cut some good lumber.....hands down
Your own sawmill, awesome! Look for ways to use everything, maybe even profit .
Not to mention baling up the sawdust and selling as bedding for critters, or for folks with composting toilets. Gorgeous lumber.
Nice work Jeff!
How long do you let your logs sit?...and do you dry the lumber any more after you’ve cut?...both you guys are great..can’t wait to see more of the hunting cabin in Kansas
Cut the logs right after I cut them down. I alow the lumber to dry for several months depending on humidity and thickness
Cool vid, just picked up a Mr Sawmill built on a trailer.
Great videos love you'll and appreciate you'll great content " Anyways " stay blessed
Awesome job buddy
Watching a saw Mill is satisfying.
Thanks Jeff great video
Love your work ethic, you geter done.....
I wonder...what’s done with those 1st cuts of bark? I know nothing goes to waste. Love your vids Jeff.
I think he said he burns them and uses the ash in the garden.
@@austinpresley6187 nice...of course!
@@patrickp3485
I hear it's good for tomatoes
Great video. What brand of Mill is that?
What do you do with all the scrap pieces that has bark on em? Like to use em as siding on my house. Talk about look good 👌🏼👌🏼
That was cool , wanted to see more
That sawmill is bad ass. Dont see machines like this much anymore
Have you ever worked with the Harbor Freight saw mill? Thinking of getting one and was wondering if it’s any good.
Thanks
Wondering what happens to the barkside cut wood? Do you use it for cladding or suchlike?
Awesome Jeff, I wish I had a mill!!
Would love to make my own boards.
Thanks For Sharing! Enjoyed watching it! How long does a saw blade last?
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
What did that piece of equipment run. Ballpark. Not trying to pry. Just interested on future endeavors. Thanks.
What is the brand/manufacturer of your saw? That’s good stuff, man! Thanks.
Wood Mizer
Hey Jeff, you may have said in a previous video, but what model is your mill and what size motor is on it? I am wanting one for our farm and the size of your mill looks perfect for what I’m wanting! Thanks
Hey there... Quick question, what would you recommend using for a finish on a 1x10 pine bar top. That won't change much of the pine color.. thank you
And those are real 2X8 not like 1-1/2 X 7 - 1/2 @ Lowe's or home depot or other lumber supply but there not dressed or plained smooth but work just fine and when your set up like Jeff your own mill ,tress saves a lot of $ for sure just a little sweet equality but stay safe , stay healthy , stay busy & say hi to Lisa & Hannah keep the video's coming
Nice job Dude!

Wanted to see one work. Gonna cut down couple red and white oaks after the snow leaves just need a guy with a mill.
Your camera has a very nice picture
Just curious, you ever use sweet gum trees for lumber or just pines? Lol, we're overran with sweet gums in west Ga where I live..
Sweetgum is hard to dey properly where you can use it. Its real pretty inside but warps 3 different ways in the drying process.
How wide will yout mill cut? I have a friend with a Lucas Mill, which is nowhere near as fancy as yours.
Do you use them old pieces your cutting off them logs as a camouflage on hunting blinds? Like to make them blend in out in the woods? Thanks good fast information here.
I think he used some of them like that in an older video.
@@lazylizard6532 ok thanks
Hard working family an good country folks
You probably got his question many times but when you cut a 2x10 is it actually that or do you cut them as they come from Home Depot?
Jeff, quick question. What do you do with the slabs after you’re done milling your lumber? Do you burn them, sell for pulp wood, or have you ever thought about using them to cover blinds?
