Excellent video, I have and love the two tone version of this. The strap on the santos 100 is more reliable/secure than the newer santos de Cartier. That is what sold me on keeping mine in addition to it having more presence yet being so comfortable on wrist.
I think the most popular model is the Tank rather than the Santos, but your theory on a model specific model could hold for both. The reason Cartier is doing so well is because of ladies watch sales. Cartier is the Rolex of ladies watches.
To me it’s plain and simple on why the santos has been doing well, 1: and to me this is the main reason, social media and influencers showing off there bullshit bussdown Cartier santos. 2: if you said name a luxury watch brand to some one they would say “Rolex” any day of the week but if you said to some one name me a jewellery company “Cartier” would probably be the first thing they would say it’s just that brand recognition, they have been killing it the last couple years in selling ladies watches too. 3: very appealing to every one watch people or not, priced very well, very sleek and subtle watches but there’s also quite a lot of options and colours even down to the material the watch it’s self is made out of, so to me makes its more accessible and wearable so you can cater them more to your style and they have nearly every sized version of a watch you could ask for. Great brand and watches BUT ! A bit too boring to a watch guy from the dial to the case and also who wants to wear a watch you see in every rappers music video or on every “influencers” wrist. IMHO, Cartier is the GOD Tier of ALL watch brands. Way too much horological history to talk about Cartier watches. I believe the Cartier Tank is the most popular model sold to date. I don't own a Santos 100 (to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Alberto Santos Dumon) flight in Paris in 1904. I chose to go another route with the Cartier Santos Carree #2960 "Or Massif"
