- Back in 2020 I was one of the first people to try out one of the revolutionary Sachtler Aktiv8 Tripod Heads, so I made a video about how to set it up and work with it. At the time I didn't publish it because Sachtler were thinking of releasing it themselves, but it's been few years so thought it should get seen. If you've not played with an Aktiv head I recommend you do - I've never looked back!
More info on the head here: www.sachtler.c...

Crazy how hard it is to go back once you have something better.
wow more proof how important tripods are.
We have a bunch of these. If someone isn't aware of how it separates from the tripod they can lift up to far when trying to level and the camera and head will come off in their hand. If they aren't ready for the extra weight of the camera and head together they can lose their grip and it all crashes to the parking lot.
Thank you, yeah that’s exactly why I thought it was important to include that bit.
Should I choose the FSB 8 Mark II over the Aktiv for wildlife photography during long hikes while carrying the camera and tripod on my shoulder? Will it be sturdy enough to not fall apart?
Can you explain attaching it to a slider. Would you need any flat base adapters?
Proper big sliders have a bowl head, so you'd need to add one of those first before attaching the Sachtler extra base spigot.
Excellent presentation. Appreciated.
Can this Aktiv8 head go frictionless if needed on the horizontal? thanks
It can yes, just set the drag to zero.
@@fryfilm2000 would you recommend this setup for nature use, water, mug, etc. ? Easy to maintain? Thanks again.
@@paulchiu I would recommend for pretty much everything! There is a 100mm version for heavier cameras or where you really need maximum drag for say planes in flight, but I've never wanted more than the 75mm version for anything I shoot.
