First time I used one of these I was in Florida fishing with a really good friend and it was so handy and cut very well without effort. I just recently purchased one of my own and love it.
A very good tool especially if you use braid. Braid cuts much different than mono. You need a very sharp tool to get a clean cut with braid. This does the job. It can rust some if you wade fish in saltwater. Not the blades or handles as they seem to be stainless steel, and the housing is plastic... but maybe the spring or clips are simple metal. I'm not sure, but mine has rusted a little from wade fishing. That is the only con I have had. Rinse it out in the sink when you get home. I think it comes in two sizes and it is rather expensive... Try to buy the smaller one on sale. Great video Tony! As usual.
This the best tool for cutting braid ever, there are other models with longer blades, and they work great too. If you shop carefully, you can find them for under ten dollars. If you are worried about nipping a hole in your Tommy Hillfinger shorts, hang them around your neck on a lanyard or put in a vest pocket. I take real good care of mine and never lend them to anyone because it is hard getting them back. I highly suggest you buy more than one pair.
I really like this since it cuts line super cleanly but like many other products with a retractable leash, the retractable cord is always the weakest link on the device. It’s prone to breaking and as you can see in this video, sometimes it doesn’t want to retract smoothly. Tsunami makes an excellent 8-in-one multi tool line cutter (with a jig eye cleaner, pick, three bending surfaces, lure tuner, hook sharpening file, line pick, knife) that is like a suped up version of nail clippers that works really well too. I’d say those are a little more solid and less likely to break.
Been using these for years. I don't go fishing without them. I wear it on a lanyard around my neck. I love these things and if they break I go right out and get new ones before I even fish again. Must have for me
Great little tool. But a pair of Good pliers have everything you need. I have found that 6 different tools hanging off my PFD or belt loop is just too much. A pair of Dancos or something can do it all. But, it is a nice little line cutter. It stays in the bottom of my bag.
Works great for a few times cutting braid and then quits cutting clean after just a few times of use. 8 have a bunch of them and had to dispose of most when they quit cutting. Expensive for not lasting long.
This looks like the original. The big snips have slightly longer blades and the original’s blades are more tucked up inside and are less likely to snag or cut you accidentally.

Where can i find this? Sounds nice.
Great tool. Works great and nice to have them on your tacklebag or waders. Good review.
Thanks!!

Been using them for years-I keep the blades unlocked and seems to help them last longer. Open them up and spray some anti-corrosion to the spring
Anti-corrosion as in WD -40 or something more permanent? I need to try this.

Thanks for your feedback!
How do you do a review and not mention the light or how to change the battery?
Is this the Original version or the Big Snips Salt version? Will the Original version handle salt water inshore fishing?

Do they cut thicker braid?
I have used them on braid to 65 lbs . they worked great.
According to their Amazon description, they can cut up to 150 lb. braid and 250 lb mono line. Crazy!
