PEOPLExpress 737-400 Inaugural Landing in Newark (KEWR) *With ATC!*

Vision Airlines dba PEOPLExpress First Landing at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in 27 years! I hope you enjoy!
Just for reference: Touchdown is at 4:05. Filmed 6/30/14. Our callsign was "Ruby 250" for the flight, representative of Vision Airlines operation.

This flight marks the return of People Express Airlines to its former hometown in Newark, New Jersey. After a 27 year absence, the brand synonymous with no-frills, inexpensive airfare and excellent customer service returns with a bang.
This aircraft, N745VA, a Boeing 737-405 (originally delivered to Braathens in 1989), is technically operated by Vision Airlines, however it is complete with a shiny green People Express paint job.
I am delighted that I was able to capture the beginning of what surely will be an incredible journey for People Express Airlines.
Air traffic control communications were captured with a handheld radio scanner and a digital audio recorder. Due to the relatively small range of the handheld scanner, most audible communications were those of the pilots. I also apologize if I misinterpreted any communications when adding captions.

People Express had 737-100s and 737-200s, no 737-400s . They first flew in April 1981. Jet Blue did not exist in 1981...

Thanks for posting. I worked for the original PEx '84 through the merger into Continental in '87. Watching this approach brought back great memories. The sad thing though was seeing the parking lot where our North Terminal was at the north end of 4/22 runways. Sorry to see that the new PE didn't last long at all.

How was the flight? Were there a lot of people?

From PHF to EWR there were ~130 people on board. There were only about 80 on the return trip. Aircraft holds 150 max.
