    In the Navy I used to work on Electro-mechanical over hydraulic systems which controlled the ships fin stabilizers and rudder control systems. So I understand the difficulties involved in doing something like this. Well done.

    When those SSR's fail, they commonly stick 'ON' so if by having one of the SSR's constantly on can damage anything I'd stick a power switch in to turn off the whole system, or at least make sure they only have Key on power. I hope that helps 😉

    a couple of years ago I was involved in outfitting a GYROCOPTER for Law Enforcement support. We had an Infrared/real life camera mounted on a gimbal that was initially controlled with a game controller. It could be aimed from the cockpit and once an object to follow was identified, a button on the game controller would trigger automatic tracking. The Gyro had a pilot and an observer. The observer ran the cameras and could relay the video in real time to Law Enforcement on the ground. Last year the concept was tested in a CA city. After the test period that Agency decided to purchase a Gyro outfitted with similar equipment.

    I got move the joy stick one way and the plow lifts. Move it the other direction and it lowers. Beyond that I’m lost but fascinated.

    • @lanecazes
      @lanecazes 2 года назад

      @Dennis Palmer
      I do believe the shiny silver rectangle attached to the plow is missing the laser receiver. The receiver will track and keep the laser beam at a constant location so when the dozer grade goes up or down, the plow and tile stays level. Idk if the joy stick is for plow/tile slope adjustment or if it’s programmable or not (the slope at the beginning point to the ending point or the tile). I guess we’ll have to watch the next video to find out. Hey DP, I agree with another commentator, Mr Flaming Dirt could work for NASA!!! Nice job guys!!

    It was mentioned below but worth saying again... Heat sinks should be in direct contact with the relays. Consider mounting an L bracket inside the box then mount the relays and heat sink to the bracket. You might need a small fan on the box with a small air filter to keep things from building dust. Also, plastic box between heat sink and heat source spells fire. This is my area of expertise. This would never be allowed on our rail equipment.
    One more thing to consider, do you have any stop switches to prevent travel beyond limits on the boot? AKA limit switches or sensors.

      If you put the Raspberry PI, you can add an LVDT to the arm. Then you could actually command it how much to go up or down instead of using the joystick.

    Now that is gaming in real life 😆 that is just awesome that you two have accomplished that with a gaming controller, extensions cords and a box of jelly bean parts. Can't wait to see the next video in this series and again thank you to Flaming Dirt for making this Perfect Flaming Dirt team up happen to give Forest laser guidance. Very education and entertaining for sure. Keep up the great work you guys 😁👍

    I hope your special grommet as you called it, it’s actual a strain relief fitting. They make them water proof also I hope you used the water proof ones so if you have a hose blow or water gets in while pressure washer it won’t get past the strain reliefs and cause a short. I love you are designing and building this system yourself and your buddy. Good luck and I hope you have no problems with this system.
