Love the blue feet on the budgie at 1:25 Also, don't forget that if you do get a companion for your bird, do it well before you go away. Don't leave birds who are strangers together till they get used to each other, or you may return to injuries, or worse :/ Great tips other than that one point!
There is a reason why the budgie's feet are blue. So you know how cocks have blue ceres and hens have brown ceres? The same sex hormones that affect cere color are also present on their feet. So therefore cocks have bluish feet and hens have brownish feet.
Like that idea, and if you have a spare cage that isn't broken (like an old one that you used to have) use that to put 2 birds together, they won't be in the same cage, but they can still technically communicate
Awesome tips, love the good advice. 👍💯 That's why I got my old budgie and new friend last year to keep her company. I always leave my budgie cage open for them to fly around when I come home from work but they stay on me instead. 🐦🥰 I really like these tips for new budgie owners. Keep up the good work. 👍💯
we always leave our cage open and our bird is always free in our house. However, one weekend where we had to leave and couldn't take her with us we got back and found her with an injured leg, she couldn't put pressure on it for 1 month. To this day we don't know what happened but since we have learned to close the door when no-one is home for at least a day
One thing I'd suggest if leaving your bird in its cage during a hot, sunny day: it may be worth half covering the cage so your bird has a choice of sitting in full sun or ducking into the shade if it gets a bit hot. When I was in my teens I had a budgie. She was allowed free roam of 2 rooms of the house whenever anyone was home. If there wasn't anyone home, she was in her cage listening to BBC Radio 4 for a bit of background noise. When she was out of her cage, she adored watching the birds outside, and would make a blackbird alarm call when she saw a blackbird and a sparrow "pew" sound when she saw a sparrow. One time when she was out of her cage but nobody was in the room with her, she got curious and decided to look behind a book on the bookshelf, and ended up falling down the gap behind the book. It took me a little while to find her, but thankfully she was OK, though a little flustered. It's probably a good idea to push all your books, DVDs, or anything else similar all the way to the back of the shelf for safety to avoid instances like this.
Very good advice. I have 3 budgies and they are not finger tamed, but they show that they still love me. They also love the fresh food I give them and like to have it every day!
I can’t agree with the last tip. New cage set up may add to the anxiety. Birds very often move inside the cage to get food even after dark. They move around by remembering the location of the perches rather than by the sight. I would never change anything before going away.
This is why I open my shades every morning for Popcorn & Angel and I have my pet cam on 24/7 when I go to work. I talk to them from work as much as possible. Plus they have each other to play with.😉🕊️♥️🕊️
I could not agree more. My Alexandrine loves to know I'm on my way home or that I won't be long. She looks directly at the webcam so she understands I can see her. I have a smart home and so it's nice to be able to adjust lighting and temperature conditions while I'm out for the day
I leave my bird for school. So today I figured out that my bird missed me, I was taking a nap they were calling me sadly when I come they were looking at me happily ❤
Thanks for the tips. Love your birds. ❤ I'm planning on buying 2 parakeets. I had birds for many years. At the moment, I don't have any birds, but I'm thinking about getting a pair.
I got my budgie from a family who was looking for a new home for her because no one cared about her anymore. They did the responsible thing, by giving her to a good home. She lived her best life with me. When they dropped her off with her cage and supplies, they said "and here's some food and water dishes you can use if you leave for the weekend." I was thinking, leave for the weekend?!?
My husband and I have never been away longer than one night from our cockatiels without arranging for a "bird hotel". We have slept over on an air mattress at our friends' house after parties, but during those parties we put a timer on the light near the cage for it to turn off at 9 pm. We were gone for almost a week during our honeymoon but my mom and dad took care of the birds then 😄
#1 should be get your bird a friend, especially if you have an extremely social breed like a budgie! I highly recommend everyone have at least two budgies. They'll be so much happier.
Every bird is different. I had an umbrella cockatoo who was afraid of new toys. They had to be introduced slowly. I feel leaving two nightlights on for my cockatiel is very important as cockatiels can get night frights...as can any bird. Two so if one burns out. You have to know your individual bird's personality. Their cage is their ultrasafe place.
I took my parakeet to my grandparents when we would go on vacation. My grandma liked to "clean" things... so she would cut all the chewy frayed bits off my bird's toys she'd been working so long on! A bird outrage!
Hi,so ive got a question. My bird is is wayyy to scared of me, and some time ago, we had one more. After the other budgie died, she got way happier but i still scared as hell. Pls someone give me an advice. Love ur videos
Hey bro, i have finally buyed budgie 3day ago on first day he/she afraid of me but now he/she is not. he/she starts to eat from my hand and not afraid anymore problem is does i have to start taming or give him/her more time to adjust.🤔 Edit:-I'm first time bird owner also.
I want a bird so bad. I’ve always wanted a bird but watching all of these very informative videos I’ve learned that it’s quite costly to provide the life that a bird deserves. Routine Avian vet visits. Proper diet, replacing toys on a regular basis, a flight cage, etc etc etc. A budgie is very affordable but providing that budgie the life that it deserves is not in my price range right now. So sad.
If your bird would be in its cage most or all of the time, then a large cage is necessary. If your bird could fly around a room or two in your home for a good portion of the day though, then as long as the cage is plenty large enough for it to stretch its wings then its not too much of a problem. My budgie lived 5 years. I believe she didn't live longer than that largely due to me not being able to wean her off an all seed diet onto something healthier. If you can get that bit right, the rest is really quite easy. Budgies make great pets. I would have a bird as a pet again, but right now my off-grid living situation means there is very often a lot of smoke in my home, so any kind of bird is a no-go at present.
Hey I am going on a vacation for 4 days and I have decided to leave my budgies at my neighbours house who is also having his own budgies he has 2 and I also do have 2 . COULD please tell me whether should I leave them there or Not?

Hi, Bird Nuggets My friend wants a budgie, but her parents are saying it is cruel to keep birds in cages, as birds were built to fly. Any advice on what I can tell my friend?
If she gets them, will she let them out to fly around the house every day for hours? If you don't know, you can ask her and if she will she can explain to her parents that the birds will get lots of exercise every day.

Hey I have a question and anyone who knows ab birds can answer, if I go on vacation but my dad's stays home, then comes with me then my mom comes back, is it ok if my bird is alone for 1-3 days?
Budgies are flock birds, they should never be kept alone. A human being is not a replacement for a budgie companion. A companion is not just an option for a bird that is alone at home. A budgie should never be kept as a single bird.
1hr ago i just picked up my budgies from my friend/neighbour after the tour of 2-3 days and they are healthy and now happy with me
