Recommend avoiding any Anker Eufy products for the time being, given the latest security (or rather, lack thereof) issues, as described on today's (November 25, 2022) WAN Show on Linus Tech Tips channels.
@@JudgeRightly Came here to see if there were any updates now that the news of Eufy's behavior has broken. Deeply concerned by the privacy and security issues they pose. I also heard about this through LTT and the WAN Show.
Really missed TP-Link TAPO doorbells, it integrates with alexa and have SD-Card too, ther will be any review including them?
Thank you for the amount of effort you put into these videos. I can't unstate the importance of impartial reviews in this world. Can't wait till you're the size of the RUclips channel Projectfarm so that you can put videos out like this more often (and comfortably have the money to do so.) It's bound to happen eventually with how comprehensive your reviews are
Totally agree
Your series of comparison videos are the most informative detailed comparisons I have ever come across. This is a must see if you are shopping for smart doorbells. I have a Circle View now and you nailed all my pain points I have dealt with so far using it for 6 months. 👍👌👍
Exactly the channel I have needed! I am about to binge all of your info! Thanks for taking the time to put it out there!
I really appreciate when RUclipsrs put in so much effort in creating their content. This is really going to help a lot of people sort through various options available out there.
I am really looking for something compatible with ECHO devices, since I do not like to use my phone unless I am not home. Looks like Ring is on my only realistic option.
Wish you all the success in your future endeavors.
Thanks, glad this was helpful! Yes, Ring is the definitely the best if you are focused on Amazon Echo and FireTV integration.
EXACTLY that video I was hoping for. Nailed every point of consideration for me, and had all the doorbells I was looking at. Normally I have to scrap together a bunch of vids and try to weed through the opinions of multiple people. Thank you 🙏
So excited for this video! Doing amazing work Rob! Thank you again.
Many of us are not home wired security nerds or experienced with are doorbell cams. These videos are very helpful, thanks!
This is the second home in which ruclips.net/user/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).
Thank you or all your videos that are really professional and really tested to the bones. Wetter it's cameras, doorbells, switches or whatever I really appreciate your objective approach to all of them. Please keep up the good work! You rock.
Nice job with the video! This definitely takes a ton of time and effort to put together. As an IT professional and integrator myself, this is very helpful to push customers to watch to help make a decision. Would be nice to add if these have the ability for hardwire connections (like the Unifi G4 Pro Doorbell and the Ring Pro 2 I believe)
Really appreciate the effort you put into these videos. My go to channel and thorough and professional. Thanks
Rob, as always a great video.. you set the bar for honest unbiased down to earth reviews, which is why along with your node red videos.. I keep coming back.. Thankyou for what i know is a huge effort on your part to produce quality content. Keep it up my friend.. Jase
The best doorbell hands down is a 45kg Doberman Pinscher attached to a 5m long chain. 💫
true that as long as he does´nt go on vacation with you
Does he call you when your away so he can tell you whose at the door
🤣🤣
Does he save to the cloud?
I had a similar solution kept in with a steel framed mesh door. Until one day when I was pottering around the house, I didn't close that door properly and my 50KG bullmastiff crossed with ridgeback and staffy broke through the door and dropped the 70 year old postman by his leg....
The dog let go straight away and it could have been WAY worse and the postie didn't even want compensation beyond medical bills, his ripped jeans and 3 days off work.
Even though the post office and postman didn't want compensation and the council animal control services were extremely reasonable because it was clearly MY FAULT not the dogs fault the whole ordeal was more expensive than a doorbell at the gate....
So glad I live in a country where stitches antibiotics and a tetanus shot cost less than 400usd equivalent. Oh and a country where people tend not to sue other individuals for shit like this, not that he would have needed to sue me, I would have just paid out, I even offered compensation but he just wanted a new pair of jeans and his boss just wanted to cover his expenses which came to less than 1000 aud. Actual angels 😇
It helps that most dog owners just deny everything and make things hard whereas immediately regained control, applied first aid, called his boss, gave them all my details and paid for initial costs within hours and fully cooperated with the council investigation.
All I'm saying is shit can go wrong and I honestly would have preferred someone stole shit than someone getting hurt because I didn't latch a door properly.
great amount of effort and very informative in an orderly fashion
The video we've been waiting all year for
I wish I had seen this video prior to my recent purchase of the Nest 2nd Gen Doorbell. I'm still very happy with my choice but you explained in moments what other took hours to. It would have saved me a ton of time in research. Great job.....and subscribing now.👍
Always balanced and informative. A reliable source
Thanks so much for taking the time to explain both the pros and cons of each camera. For me ... euphy it is.
Great review thanks. I was just in the market for one and going to get the Eufy based on your review.
Top video and very informative , here in the UK and loving your channel 😊👍
Excellent video/info as usual. I know that you have a lot of things to talk about and want to keep the video as short as possible. But for guys like me that are not USA/ENG native language, you talk a little bit fast. But keep up and I will try to keep up also.🤪 Great videos as always. Thanks very much, from Portugal! 😁
Thank you I was looking for a range of doorbells to choose thank you this really helped 👏☺️😄😎
Thanks for the reviews....I like that angled package cam on the Eufy
Yay!!! Been looking forward to this for months
Consistently fair and instructive. a trustworthy source
Wowwww what patience and effort!
Great video review, as always!
Excellent work as usual... 👏
Another EXCELLENT Video....
Fantastic
Thank you for sharing this great video
As always, great coverage and recommendations. We recently switched from alexa/ring to Google but also have reolink nvr for backup. Haven't tried the reolink doorbell, but love ring pro 2 and new wired doorbell from Google.
I think eufy can be a good option if you're all in on their ecosystem and have the home hub for local recording
Thank you so much , you offer valuable information.
This is an outstanding review. Thanks.
Your videos are awesome. Thank you so much for doing this. Do you have an update to your indoor wireless camera recommendations? Or should I follow your ULTIMATE Wireless Indoor Camera Showdown video from 2 years ago when I want to make purchases?
Great video as always 👌
Love this ! Thank you so much !
I went with Lorex and haven't had any complaints. Local storage vs paying a monthly subscription just made more sense to me. This video confirms my choice considering the video quality, and price of most of these. Good informative video as always.
but if someone steals your doorbell all your footage is lost?
Again a very good video from you
Great video as always!
I've been watching your channel for a good while now. I'm planning on setting up a video security system using 1 cam for the front yard, 1 for the backyard and a video doorbell to cover the front door (as it is recessed, it won't be covered by the camera in the front yard). I'm still on the fence about using an out of the box NVR or setting up Blue Iris.
How do these doorbell camera's integrate with Blue Iris? I'm specifically interested in the Reolink Doorbell Wifi.
I would also like to know how well these camera's integrate with Home Assistant, either on their own or through Blue Iris.
I have been on a pre-order list for the Reolink POE Doorbell. I think it may be the best option for 24/7 recording back to our NVR without a subscription and seeing as how we have a Reolink system already, the only real difficulty will be running the POA to the doorbell.
I have been using the Amcrest AD410 which supports RTSP and I use it with Blue Iris... works great!
Love all your content, is it possible to make a video on door bells with a built in relays or external relays (for door buzzers)
I fricking love these videos. The only one who does actual research into the different products instead of just saying a personal opinion.
Thank you so much for this!
This video explained a lot. I've got a question regarding video doorbells and security camera connection to WiFi.
Background: Purchased Wyzecam door bell and security camera. Neither would connect to our Google WiFi. The reason being is that Google WiFi (mesh) has 2.4ghz & 5ghz both on the same SSID. The Wyzecam products failed to connect once they saw 5ghz rather than simply attempting a 2.4ghz connection.
We are now considering Google Nest products, which should be compatible. What might you know about products connecting to such WiFi?
Upgraded my Eufy Doorbell to the Doorbell Dual and love the fact that you do not Need a subscription. Only issue i have right now is the slow Connection for live Streaming on my Amazon Echo Show devices
I am using all Eufy camera's including Doorbell and I love them. Before I used Ring but the subscription model sucks. And I live in Canada with -30 C temp in winters and still eufy works fine.
Great, informative video. Question, do you know (or does anyone know) which door chime(s) would work with the Wemo Video Doorbell? I went with your choice in the HomeKit category, and besides it being a little glitchy, my main issue is being unable to find a compatible chime. Any insight appreciated!
Great breakdown, which one can record on a synology NAS storage and rings the existing house bell?
I have the Eufy Dual camera door bell and I love it. It has a lot of features that definitely make it stand above the competition and even your premium category. 24/7 recording isn’t a need for me so this fits right in. I also use Eufy’s security system so this just made sense to get as they cover the area before my front door. 👍🏼
I love your reviews and I watch them quite often when deciding on my next purchase(s), definitely keep them coming! 🤘🏼
Eufy sucks once you try to get into home automation and the fact that all their cameras are different and don't work together outside of the app makes it almost useless for me. The doorbell also misses things frequently but I don't have the newest dual camera one.
The battery doorbells can start recording too late, but the wired ones do not have that issue.

Great review!
Just a quick note about the Eufy camera. They have since disabled that long press sync button flaw.
Can confirm the Unifi UDR and G4 work together. Great combo for the price.
Omg well done! This was amazing! So I guess my question is, let's say you did not care about eco system integration. Between Ring pro 2 and nest wired, which would you pick?
@The Hook Up , in your estimation and assuming you notice this comment, would the Nest doorbell using Nest speakers as chimes and Nest Hubs as video targets offer a better experience than the Eufy (or Reolink) with their app installed on a wall mounted 12" tablet connected to in-ceiling speakers? I don't really need automation from my doorbell, just to hear when someone rings the doorbell, see their face at times without going to the door and speak when away. I have cameras +BI for all else.
The Heath-Zenith HZconnect video doorbell is a real underdog. I highly recommend it
Excellent video thanks
Such an amazing and detailed video, I'll most likely get the Google Nest Wired Gen2 or the Eufy if I can get my hands on it! Random side question, what mount are you using for your Nest Hub? I've been trying to find a clutter-free solution for the kitchen..
It's a 3d printed one from thingiverse.
Lorex is a good pick for those who want to pair with a wired NVR closed system. Does not require subscriptions, records on the NVR and pairs effortlessly. It has been a very quality, stable system for me.
good evening, of the doorbells you tested which do you think is the fastest once you press the button that opens the communication on your smartphone? thank you.
If a guy was focused on adding an NVR system (with cameras) to his house, and wanted a door cam: would you recommend going with the Ring NVR, and Ring doorcam ($99) or the Eufy doorcam ($199)? Do the added benefits of the Eufy door cam justify the added burden/inconvenience of having two separate systems/ apps?
(Anyone can respond, I am interested to hear feedback).
I am in Canada and it seems really difficult to even find Ring doorcams.
Good comparison, but feel there aren’t any amazing choices.
I’m going to grab one of those Reolink POE ones and see how it works with Synology Surveillance Station - whether I can substitute that for the Reolink cloud.
I have the original Nest wired doorbell and a Starling Home Hub which gives me event notifications and access to the live video in the Apple Home app. If I upgrade to the Nest wired (or battery) doorbell 2 then the Starling enables HKSV and allows me to saves clips to iCloud. Since I already have HomePods and an Apple+ subscription for other things it makes a lot of sense to bring the Nest devices (not just cameras) into HomeKit as well.
Would love to see your take on the XTU J9
tnx for the vid man
Amazing video (as usual)! Which are best for HA integration (doorbell presses, motion, video integration, etc.)?
I noticed too there was no mention of HA integration.
FWIW, I may have a somewhat unique application with a driveway gate that is remote with no power. I use an AD410 powered by solar, DC power is a thing, connected to my local network only, integrated into Blue Iris and HA. The Dahua HA integration helps a lot.
The phone app is still required for 2-way audio. 2-way audio does work within Blue Iris but not with UI3. I have used 2-way audio with Remote Desktop to the BI server. There is no way that I've found to get 2 way audio when off the local network without using the Amcrest cloud.
I too am primarily interested in compatibility with Home Assistant, Blue Iris and Frigate. I want cloudless operation and don’t care about Google or Alexa. With Frigate/HA I could push notifications when a person is detected, but quietly save recordings of the wild critters that often cross our front yard, such as deer, bobcats, coyotes, porcupines, etc. I don’t need them waking us up at night, but I like to see them. I might have to just replace by Ring Pro with a PoE camera and a homemade ESP32 smart doorbell button.
@@dpvbischoff I considered DIY or a camera with 2 way audio and adding a speaker. Then adding a PB in a box. I thought this would be easier. Finding a camera with audio is getting harder, sorry Reolink. Camera speakers are pretty poor when you do find them and finding a low power decent quality one is tough to.
HA integrations were covered in my last video on local control doorbells: ruclips.net/video/6XCu6L0xn4Y/видео.html
This video mostly for people who want to use their doorbell "as intended" with the manufacturer provided cloud and integrations.
@@TheHookUp Oh, right. I actually watched that video when it came out. Just forgot! Thanks for both videos
This guy is the hero we need but don’t deserve.
Question: Do you have to have a subscription for the Google nest to use it? I don't need it for security, just for notification of when my kids get home and package delivery. Thanks
I purchased the Google Nest Wired (not sure which Gen) based on a couple of your comparison videos and have been really happy with the performance. My initial hesitation was the integration with HomeKit, that I have been trying to use throughout the house. It turns out that the options for tighter HomeKit integration are not yet on par with some of the offerings from other companies. The monthly fee does take something away from the Google doorbell, but I think its worth it for the performance that it offers. The video quality is excellent and I have had no issues with connection even with my wifi router being a good distance away from where the doorbell is mounted.
Thanks for all of your hard work on the testing of a ton of things that I would love to try out for myself but would never have the time to put into it like you have!
By a starling hub and your nest doorbell will be the best homekit doorbell by far.
How is the support for third-party NVR with support for RTSP or OnVif? It seems a little wobbly? I am considering to migrate to a BlueIris NVR-solution this winter - and want it to be able to record on that platform (as well ass work with my Google Nest screens).
Great Video... My issue is that there is no slim flush mount doorbell. All these doorbells stick out quite a bit. I like to find one where i can channel the frame out and flush mount it. Ring does semi fluch but its £300
Thank you again Rob for a great and informative video.
Is familiar faces still useless exept for on the Nest? (as mentioned in your test of the wireless doorbells).
Howcome the wireless Nest doorbell gets 9.5/10 for two-way audio but only 8/10 in the wired version? Is the Wemo really better in this respect?
My Nest battery doorbell actually performed better than the wired version for 2 way talk, not really sure why.
Edit: Yes, the wemo 2 way talk was phenomenal, no delay at all, very similar to the Dahua VTO that I tested in my last video.
im sad i have but only 1 upvote to give.. ty for your hard work
Have tied blink, is it worth considering?
What is the best all-around no subscription 360 indoor outdoor camera? Something that has excellent low light performance behind glass.
Thanks for you channel
I like to see what you think of the Night Owl security system and doorbell
Do you have a list of what devices in each category were tested, perhaps a link showing that list?
Reolink PoE gets my vote. Nothing beats a device having a stable / reliable power and network connections.
Thank you ❤
Does it make sense to upgrade from Nest Hello doorbell (with basic Nest Aware subscription) to the new Nest 2nd gen doorbell (and keeping the basic Nest Aware subscription (keeping the subscription for other google cams in the house)?
Hi, do you have a video comparing wired outdoor cameras that are Google home compatible, thanks
Great, detailed comparison as always!
I would switch to that Eufy from my old Ring Pro but not ringing my existing chime is a non-negotiable show stopper for me. Maybe when the release a new version that can use their base station for recording they will add chime support (one can dream).
Eufy battery model can ring existing chimes and can still be hardwired. Needs to have the battery because all power is being sent to the bell while it rings which is why the one with no battery cannot do it. It's a bit unintuitive but the battery model can still be hardwired so you never need to remove it for charging if your transformer is adequate. The big drawback of every model with a small internal battery is the battery eventually fails and is very difficult to impossible for end users to replace without doing an RMA (Basically any doorbell that is compatible with existing chimes MUST have some battery inside to keep it going while the power goes to the chime) My old ring Pro died many times, I was buying parts and soldering in new battery modules every year, when Ring did the 50% price increase I got rid of it, gave the spare parts I collected to a family member.
@@UpcraftConsulting - agreed. I have a Eufy doorbell that is battery powered but can also be hard wired, and I have it hardwired and it rings my existing chime with no issues on ringing. I dislike the Eufy “splash screen” that pops up with an event before the actual event video gets displayed, but that is a separate matter.
@@stevebabiak6997 ugh. The splash screen is the worst!
@@victorvek5227 - agreed. And it only started with a rather recent software update, so I hope they get rid of it. It’s unnecessary.
@@UpcraftConsultingwhich company and doorbell did you switch to? How’s the battery hold up?
I would love to see you do a comparison on the app for the different cameras, as well as some ONVIF NVR's. I find that the most important feature to me is the usability of the app because most of the time I'm not trying to identify a burglar, I'm trying to see what happened and when. I've found the Unifi Protect app the be the easiest I've seen out of the couple that I've installed in different places. I love the ability to easily scroll through the recording history. I would be happy to jump to a different brand if I can find one that is better!
Thanks a lot for the detailed review. How is new Google nest door bell integration with home assistant? With 5 dollar api access are you able to record feeds to your home assistant?
I haven't tried that integration.
Appreciate this in depth comparison. How did you obtain the Unify G4 Pro? I have been waiting for quite some time for it to be in stock but no luck. Frustrating to say the least. Starting to reconsider buying into the Unify Protect ecosystem for this reason.
I had a very generous subscriber send one to me for testing.
Great videos as always. Did you say you can get 24/7 recording on the reolink doorbell? will the app or dvr show what time the motion, car, person alerts are for easily finding the event you are looking for?
Yeah, it functions just like any wifi camera when added to the Reolink NVR. Can 24/7 record, you can also select "person" from the events type to get flags.?
Edit: The doorbell specifically doesn't have pet or vehicle detection, only person and "visitor" which is when someone rings the doorbell.
@@TheHookUp so when recording with the nvr and a person doesn't hit the doorbell, but just steals your package, you have to go thru 24 hours of video footage?
They would be marked as “person” and probably “motion”. Even if it didn’t it would be trivial to skip around the footage to find when the package disappeared.
I prefer the wide FOV of the Nest Hello, than the new Nest Doorbell v2!
Hi Rob, Your video is great if you want to replace your old fashioned doorbell. I have outdoor cameras that cover the front door, so a doorbell with a camera would be overkill for me. I have tried using DeepStack AI to give me alerts, but the response is too slow. I have to believe that pushing the existing doorbell button and having that signal relay to my phone or Echo devices would be much faster.
It would be great if you could do a video on how to retrofit an analog doorbell and make it smarter. Maybe using a Shelly relay? I'm willing to give up the ability to do a two way conversation (although the cameras can do this) with someone at the door for a simple relay that would send a message to my phone, and/or have my smart speaker announce "someone is at the door."
Hi and thanks for this incredibly useful review but I need to place a question: why did you exclude the kit with internal monitor and smart functions like the Villa kit from Dahua and Hikvision? They are more or less on the same price window of Unifi and Google but with PoE, no lag in the two way audio, a mobile app, an HA integration and so on…
Hope you will clarify, please.
Thanks.
This video is aimed more at a typical consumer. The VTO/VTH combos are not common for residential at all, at least not in the US.
Eufy dual camera has a goos coupon on amazon US however id like a door bell that integrates with my existing chime. What would you recommend?
Thank you.
I'm really a great fan of your videos. Very comprehensive and detailed.
I'm on the market for a doorbell, but none of the items listed seem to support the ability to open a Gate via a pulse. Is there any that would support such ?
Look at the Dahua Villa Door Stations (VTO2202F-P and VTO2201F & VTH5421HW) and Hikvision Villa Door Station, maybe Gen2 IP 2MP Villa Door Station DS-KV6113-WPE1. You should search for video intercom and door stations, instead of video doorbells. You will also probably trade-off some esthetics!!
@@gerryf7015 thanks ! Will do
I'd like to suggest for a future video, a version with a keypad which I could use with a pin to open the door and also compatible to automation, like tuya scene options.. For instance, type a successful pin and run another device, like a light..
Dang good review 👍🏾
Thanks!
Love the comparison. I am now fully invested in Reolink and waiting for a doorbell camera to become available. But…. Even though it is a hassle, I think the POE doorbell camera might be better integration. I tried to integrate the E1 outdoor with my Reolink NVR and found it would integrate as an RLC-811A does if I did not use WiFi. If I used WiFi and not POE with this camera, the E1 Outdoor pops up as a separate device, can be used with Alexa, etc… but does not show up as a Channel on the NVR. I contacted Reolink support and they said I had to choose between seamless NVR integration or supporting Alexa. I’m still putzing round with the E1 Outdoor but 24/7 recording and NVR integration trumps Alexa integration. If you find a work around or Reolink support is wrong or I am wrong, I would love to see what you did to make a WiFi Reolink camera integrate with a Reolink NVR on WiFi.
Well I figured it out.
The fix costs $80 and I’m not sure why it works.
I bought a Netgear POE+ injector. That fixed it. Now I have individual devices along with devices attached to the NVR. So I can select either the cameras individually or the NVR and view all 4. Using the NVR as the POE injector seems to not allow this. Alexa integration needs individual devices to allow for smart cloud ‘enabling’. Not sure why this work and Reolink support has no idea this works. Too bad really.
Everything connects to Alexa now. Wow.
Wish I knew why I need the POE injector so I could tell Reolink but I ain’t that edumacated.
😜
If this helps anyone, great.
@@martyw2199from what I know POE will only work if you connect two devices, input and output, in the outlets. Wuthout this, it would just be an ethernet connection. Can you answer this: if you connect ethernet and a separate power supply without using poe input and output in the outlets, wull this reolink connect to the internet and work? (Basically using the the POE version without POE or wifi)
@@honestogod I tried that with the E1 Outdoor and not the RLC-811A. Using the Ethernet connection plugged into the NVR, did not allow the cameras to be listed as individual devices. Using one 8 channel POE switch with all cameras plugged into it, fixed it
If it is true that a POE device can use ethernet and a separate power input, I think there might be a way to not use the extra POE injector. In this case you would need to connect the ethernet cable from each camera to a ethernet switch and then the ethernet switch to a router and the router to a computer/device as well as to the internet provider. In theory Home Assistant would be able to identify each camera. Alexa can be integrated to Home Assistant. The NVR Im not sure how to add to this combo as I am not familiar with the way it works...
For me the Reolink beats other competitors just by one simple feature: it supports RTSP. I'm using Synology NAS with a Synology Surveillance and it is very nice to integrate a Doorbell just as one additional security camera. Plus I can use any Android tablet and an internal monitor for Reolink and use both a Reolink app and a Synology Surveillance app. Is there any better doorbell with same features (RTSP) and comparable video/audio quality and reliability?
AFAIU Eufy has RTSP without internet.
@@DigitalESP Thanks, indeed, it seems it can. Nevertheless I already got my Reolink and it seems to be a good solution. Testing it currently "in production". :)
@@DigitalESP does it? There's literally mega threads complaining that it doesn't?
@@BlueW01f check out Robs video on the subject for details. Highly recommend subscribing to his channel. IMO, the most detailed reviews in the space. ruclips.net/video/a_rAXF_btvE/видео.html
@@DigitalESP cheers, I've seen that video about eufy products in general, but as far as I can see the eufy wired doorbells don't have rtsp unlike other eufy products?
I already have zxtech onyx nvr from domar which has been a bit of a nightmare to even get working do you know if that would work with the 24/7 recording doorbell cameras ?
Try the Ezviz DB2 doorbell 👌
There is a Eufy 2k wired pro doorbell that has 24-7 recording for the same price as the dual, but it doesn't have the dual camera. Not sure if you can back up recordings to cloud service or maybe with a future update have the home base 3 support. There are also 40% off coupons from time to time that lower the cost on Amazon. Also the Eufy has no subscription with 24-7 recording.
I wish there were more options for doorbell cameras that will record to an NVR, NAS, or micro SD card. It is horrible having to pay a monthly fee for a basic video doorbell. My ideal doorbell would have the 1:1 aspect ratio Arlo video doorbell camera module, along with the down facing package camera, with the ability to record to a NAS, NVR, or MicroSD card to avoid monthly fees.
