- (Yes this was done with permission, for all my returning viewers, you all know I only use my keys with permission) This is dedicated to Ben, Smartrip Guy 118 Productions, I know you love Otis Series 5 and you've wanted to do Independent Service on one, so here's a video for you along with a bonus of opening the fire service cabinet! Wow I wonder why they made independent service in the elevator if you anyways just have 2 floors
Lol, I think all elevators are required to have it. Also it holds the doors open and they don't close until you hold door close in until they're shut. But yeah for 2 floors, it seems rarely that anyone with the key would use it.

Hey what's up! It has been a long time.
Interesting, I thought these newer fan and light switches used UTA.
UTA does fan, independent service, and light on some Otis elevators. UTA can also do inspection on some elevators and possibly run/stop.
Ah ok. I guess it's a hit or miss between A or B when it comes to light and fan. Anyway, do you happen to know if Independent takes out access control (keypads, badge readers etc) like fire service? It's something I've wondered for a while
@@ECFE I do happen to know, on some elevators independent service overrides locked floors. Most of the time it does not but sometimes you'll find it will work.

I whish you could show how to change the vertical 1,5 m light tubes in an OTIS elevator of the year 2000 (or late 1990's). Possibly a Bedlift series.

it would be really interesting to see a hoistway access key switch demo if you could find someone who would allow you to do so.

@@Jamestube8439 it definitely would be a lot harder to get permission due to liabilities and the simple fact that you’re getting access to the hoistway, which is a dangerous place if you haven’t been trained properly.

Ha I have done this before in roblox using remote controls for the cortex elevator! Unfortunately it dosent unlock locked floors like fire service does!
Ah gotcha. Roblox is kind of different when it comes to those controls I think.
@@Jamestube8439 not really stil has hold door close until doors fully close! Call cancel dose indeed work in independent service!

@@Jamestube8439 is locked floors bypassed from independent service irl? Like fire service in roblox does unlock locked floors! For cortex
@@VOLTRONDEFENDER4440 It depends, on most Otis elevators it doesn’t allow you to go to locked floors. However I have come across some that do let you go to locked floors in Independent Service
Do you remember how often and how many times you’ve been denied permission to use elevator keys? Like how often they’d say no?
I've been denied a handful of times, not exactly sure the exact number of times it's happened.

True, some Otis elevators have cabinets but have a few key switches like for inspection or the light. Schindler HT has cabinets for their elevators too.

@@Jamestube8439 kinda strange that there 2 stop switch’s in the elevator one has a key and the other on is a switch in the cabinet
@@noahharris2260 Well if the firefighters need to stop the elevator for an emergency, they can press that button rather than using a key switches.

Otis keys not made by Northeast. That's interesting. I have all the Otis keys except for UTF and above. Those are kind of useless. Most fire service keyswitches that I've seen use the universal key depending on which state it's in.
Yeah so the seller I bought some of them from made custom key cuts which I definitely found interesting.
