The ULTIMATE FATHER vs SON RACE | NWCup Downhill at Whitefish Bike Park

Round 4 of the NWCup downhill mountain bike race series is unusual in that Pro, Cat1, and Cat2 all share the same track. This provided a unique opportunity for father (Dan, Cat1) to go head to head against son (Elo, Cat2). Who will win? The result WILL surprise you!
Elo, now race age 13, has been getting faster and faster through the season. He still only weighs about 75lbs, but is racing on a Norco Aurum HSP7 downhill bike. Dan, now race age 43, is a second-year Cat1 downhill racer, also on a Norco Aurum HSP7. Elo has never beat Dan, but we've had few opportunities for head-to-head battles like this!
Both Elo and Dan had decent race runs, all things considered. The conditions had been dry during practice, but rain the night before race day changed that significantly. Roots and rocks that were easy to ride through in practice became like ice. We each had a few mistakes, reasonable considering the conditions.
It comes right down to the wire with this one, I won't spoil it for you here. Watch through to the end, the result is amazing!
Elliott and Dan both ride for Sweetlines. Elo is on the Sweetlines Gravity Team whereas Dan is on the (unofficial) Sweetlines Big Kids Racing team. We compete in the NWCup Downhill series and other events like Crankworx, the US Open, and US Nationals. If Elliott sticks with racing, he may compete in a UCI World Cup Downhill Race in the near future. Sweetlines Racing is supported by Norco Bicycles, Ride Bicycles bike shop, SRAM, Rockshox, Deity, Dharco, Smith, and Chris King. Elliott also rides on short carbon cranks from Samox Cranks.
The video you see here comes from our GoPros. Dan's riding with a GoPro Hero 12 and Elo has a GoPro Hero 10. We mount or GoPro on our helmet, just under the visor, for great point-of-view (POV) clips like these.

Thanks, there's no doubt he's going to be MUCH faster than me. It's just super fun right now that we're about the same speed. Even better is that my daughter, Nory, is also the same speed. I will definitely miss these days!
