It's plywood. But not using laser. laser would burn the wooden die board so it will cause black edge and burned surface. But our machine can avoid these problems and also make better quality die board, Our machine is using saw blade to cut the 18mm board by once automatically, which without using laser. if you interested in or want know more information, contact me : kerry@yisongcnc.com
We would like to know if you make international shipments, in this case to Peru, we need to doder to use it in gaskets cut for pipes of different measures according to ASME.
How do you sharpen the blades after lots of use? I have a small box of them but can't afford a $250 sharpener. Do you know of any other sharpening techniques that are maybe $15-$50?
Hey Max, it really depends on the shape and complexity of the die. Many times they can be made from a single piece of steel, but other times, there are more than one piece used. Feel free to give us a call on our Toll Free Line: 866-286-8046 if you have questions. Thanks, Matt
Not very helpful. I wanted to know how steel die cutting works not what different shapes look like. Is a laser involved or a sharp blade blade involved. Is it hand held or is a machine involved.
"It's not a layered plywood or anything."
*Immediately shows edge of what is very clearly plywood.*

. the second wood board you showed .. the slot for the steel rule was cut with a jigsaw / scroll saw ... not a laser
True, both were cut with a jigsaw.

Don Robertson of Tippmann Die Cutting Presses explains how a steel rule die works.
I'd like to see how those dies are made.. Just the basics.
Are they made from one piece steel rule or multiple pieces?

Where can I get steel rule die manufacturers?
Hello, we do a lot of work with Apple Die. www.appledie.com/
The plywood base IS made of 5 or more plies. Not solid wood.
