I literally worked for almost a decade at a metal fabrication shop and I pioneered using stacked laser cut press break dies. Like dies for 150 ton presses works fine. If it was a wierd custom shape and we only had to make it once they always worked great. Just thought you'd be interested to know this technique I personally saw make many tens of thousands of dollars worth of parts in actual production (We had our own laser cutter)
2:26 I tap holes into my laser cut parts to secure them; that plus some threaded studs or low profile screws and welding may address the floating plates.
I can't say enough about this build, so much creativity in so many great ideas, thank you so much for sharing the process I can't wait to see what gets built with this little magic device later 🙏🏻👍🙏🏻
Saw your project on their FB and maybe Instagram page - cool seeing it in action along with that press. Had never really seen how dies were made and it’s pretty cool.
bell you are always stepping up your making game. Awesome video this week. Injoy ur new tool / toy. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making God bless.
You could also use the threaded hole next to the fixed dovetail insert as a place to add a depth stop. You could have it as an arm with a bend that swings around. To hold the position, you tighten the bolt. Not sure if that makes sense to anyone else.
Dang.. I need one of those benders now lol. It would be a mess, but I wonder if some gear oil or grease on the dies for heavy-gauge bending would make a noticeable difference in bending easier with less friction.
When using my compact bender (HF), I always use at least a tiny bit of radius for round / square stock. The other thing you could do is put a radius on the “pushing” piece to help it along. I’d love to get a universal Bender / bulldozer style Bender as well. Hella jelly of this one 😂
That'a very neat tool. Glad you're making good use of it! You might also be intrested in a video by Proto G Engineering. He bends steel sheet with 3d printed press brake tools. Using a ton of perimeters and printing the z facing up on the bender would be the strongest.
I LIKE you horizontal hand bender , vive 3 machines 20 25 50tn and can York good with them , and gene you have much Tools more things can you make and good luck with the bender
Great video Tyler. I have one of these mutiforms and been looking for some dies. Would you be willing to sell me some files of the dies and holding plate.
Good vid, thanks for making it! I just picked up three of these benders at an auction, and now I have little more info to go on. Time to crank up the 3d printer and make some dies. Wouldn't wanna share the stl files would ya? (just kidding, I'll get drawn up in tinker)
Tyler, I’m very impressed with your method of making the die system for the Richards bender.I’m seriously thinking of buying a used Richards multiform which unfortunately doesn’t have any dies.I am A complete novice when it comes to Designing a new set using a CAD program ... Would you please consider sending me your files in order that I could commission Sendcutsend to make me a set-I would be more than happy to pay you for this information or make a donation to a charity of your choice -if you would be so kind! Anyway, I’ve come to a dead stop in my project and you seem to be the best hope. Hope you can help! Lyndon
Pneumatic sounds pretty good, but I can also see a mechanical foot powered version as well... Buuuuut you already made something like that, so I can see why you wanna go Pneumatic. ;D
WOW brother this is awesome. I am not looking for anything for free but would you PLEASE sell me the files for these. Better yet do you have any extra dies you might sell me? Please and thank you.
Tyler, awesome video! I have the same bender I will definitely be checking out sendcutsend! I’m curious as to what process you used to blue the dies? Looked like rust blueing, but ina commercial bottle? Thanks!
I love your video’s I have officially went through and watched everything now, please hurry up and make more. Become a full time RUclipsr and push a video out a day! Or a week…. Lol just saying. Become friends with this old tony and do the makers dirty Santa thing with them, you will fit in well.
Does anybody know if there's a similar lazer cutting service in Australia, preferably Western Australia? I know of a few places that do it but not really for one offs and it's tricky to get a quote to assess viability. Cheers!
Any laser cutting job shop could do parts like these. They'll probably have a higher minimum charge than Sendcutsend's $29, but email them your dxf file(s) of the part(s) you want made & ask for a quote for however many in whatever material you need. You might be surprised.
Oh the possibilities!! I love this new bender and laser cut metal!
Yes it is nice 🙌🙌
Well done, sir! Quick question though, what was the orange liquid you used to darken the pieces around the 2:50 mark?

Yeah
I’ll miss him
So you watched Sherlock too?
Super cool! Now I want all my coat hangers to be brass

Works great for small ones, can it cut 24 foot bars?
Well done, we had the same hand bender at the last place I worked. And we would waterjet tooling all the time. Now I got to get one from home.
What kind of job so you have where you work with those machines? 🌈
R&D for OEM manufacturer...

Thanks a ton Stu!!!
You should look into a hosfeld bender. This reminds me a lot of it and I would like to see what you could do with it
Nice video.
And Nice detail with the clip throwing with the brasses in the Bucket.
This will be the backbone for a lot of projects in the future i am sure, really clever idea!
That machine is sick! I need to get me one...:) Great idea getting the dies cut how you did!
Very innovative. You are a smart guy.
I’m going to SendCutSend now. I want a water jet but not just yet.
Cool video! That bender looks really useful. Can't wait to see the powered version. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Thanks for watching!
It’s so sad how people don’t subscribe to you! You deserve more!
Opie Cunningham with a geniuses brain... So fun to watch you!

This is AWESOME. Seen the post on Instagram from Send Cut Send and now I’m here and subscribed.
Thanks for watching!
1:46 i was just doing that, filled a pan with longer ones, exact same method but bigger bolt cutter as cutoff wheel too loud.
You'll be swimming in tools, like Jimmy D in no time! Great show of ingenuity! 👍👍
Thanks Tom!
Dang dude. You are impressive. The innovation is fantastic!
Oh lord, why did you have to remind us of the busty bust of Vin Diesel!?!

That’s a very useful tool Tyler, great addition to your shop
Super handy!
Because of this video I just purchased the Kalamazoo multiform bender used. Thankkkkkk youuuuu

By hf do you mean high frequency tooling apparatus? I use a scroll bender for bending brass strips to make hf welding dies. How does your bender look?
Tyler great creative video as always! You’re awesome man keep up the great work!
This is so rad. Thanks for making this!
Dang that's so neat!! could use a bender like that for sure!

Awesome video Tyler!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you have the dxf files for these dies? I'm going to pick up the same bender.
Great work, please. Can you share the cutting file?
I need the templates, but don't I have an original model for me to take measurements from?
What other kinds of 3D printer material do you have? Curious to see how well ABS and PETG hold up to your machine.
Awesome video, I love you content man. Keep it coming! Thanks!
That brass coat hanger is really nice. I'll take 50!!
We do laminated dies like that semi-regularly at work.
Efficiency A++
Love your content, keep going!

Are you willing to share drawings for the dies? They’re mighty hard to find on the used market.
Tyler what is the metal treatment you used to coat them - is it you recipe or proprietary. Great vid, well presented too.
Esta máquina está en Amazon o donde la consigo.
My dumb ass thought the brakes on the laser cut press died LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO

Now that you have some of both, do you like the Dewalt or Milwaukee eco system more?

That was awesome! What type of welder do you use, looks fairly simple for a person, I.e. me, who has never used one before?
It's called MIG welder. But take a look at Tig welding too
