    Seat Alhambra is not same class of car like Citroen (Grand) Piccaso or Opel Zafira., Alhambra is in the class with Ford galaxy ,VW Sharan,Renault espace ... , Seat Altea XL ,VW Touran is in the class with Piccaso and Zafira .

      it's total bullshit, altea xl has 30cm shorter wheelbase (which is the main factor influencing the internal space) so it is totally out...and of course altea xl is not 7seater... touran is 7 seater but again with 20cm shorter wheelbase tahn gran picasso
      so yes comparing alhambra with whelbase 5cm larger than gp (or sharan for that matter) does make a sense although better comparison with grand picasso would be with s-max which is almost exactly the same size (actually bit smaller on 3rd row)

    I think that this is one of the best reviews of late. Part of the reason being they didn`t test it from the viewpoint of boy racar so to speak - body roll in corners & heavy emphasis on the sportiness of the car rather than comfort and everyday usability of cars.
    I absolutely agree with the winner being Grand C4 Picasso II + the new EMP 2 platform is absolutelly amazing. This generation of the Grand C4 Picasso is not just 140 kg but 160 kg lighter than the predecessor - lower emissions & fuel consumption. The Zafira and Alhambra are heavier and firmer.
    By the way Seat Altea XL is the competitor of the Grand C4 Picasso and Zafira. Alhambra is understaindably bigger and more expensive because it`s competing against C8, 807, Espace, Galaxy, S-Max, etc.

    One reason to go for the 2.0 rather than the 1.6 in the Citroen is the auto box. Much smoother EAT6 unit rather than the older ETG6 in the 1.6.

    A very good review. I owned a previous Picasso and drove it all over Europe and in all weathers. I had it from new and drove 167,000 miles without a breakdown. I love them. It would have been nice to include the Renault Grand Scenic and Ford S-Max in this review as the Seat is really a larger group e.g. Galaxy and Sharan etc,

    I'm getting fed up of hearing about Citroens 'jerky' semi auto gearbox, yes the original was pretty hard to get to grips with but since then it has been updated three times and now unless you try and drive it like a boy racer it is pretty smooth, yes you do notice the gear changes in auto mode but nothing as dire as suggested in ALL the reviews I have seen. My Grand Scenic semi auto is actually dangerous when pulling out at junctions and roundabouts but I've never seen this or heard this mentioned in any review. I have road tested all the cars in this combined review and I am awaiting delivery of my new Citroen, best of the bunch for the money.

    That's the most comprehensive MPV review I've seen. I do agree with the comment about reliability of these cars; in which case I'd consider the Toyota 7 seat Verso or the VW Touran. As for the Ford Galaxy, that should be renamed the Ford Addison Lee (if you're in London you'll understand)!

    What I find odd is that comfort of seats isn't really discussed.I like the seat (although -> not same class reviewers o.O) and the opel but as someone that has issues with her back, rides that take longer than 20 minutes just exclude both due to starting to hurt.Even in the VW something( high end bussiness model) it's not as comfortable as in our citroen.

      I dont think so, I previously test drove the Grand Picasso and the Ford S-Max, I think the suspension on the Citroen was a little jerky on bumpy roads and the wind noise was a little too much, the interior was a little nicer on the Citroen though..... So I ended up buying the S-Max and I dont regret it...

    • @tyraela115

      Andreas Lie
      Well Seat Altea XL is the competitor of the Grand C4 Picasso and Zafira. Alhambra is understaindably bigger and more expensive because it`s competing against C8, 807, Espace, Galaxy, S-Max, etc.
      I think that the main reason for comparisons of the Grand C4 Picasso with say the S-Max or Galaxy etc. is just it`s size. Compare the Grand C4 Picasso with the Grand C-Max and you`ll notice it`s quite bigger and more refined etc.
      + I sat in the Grand C4 Picasso 2 months ago and I have to say it`s comfortable.
      The German cars are generally way firmer both seats and suspension and I don`t like that.
      My sister has the previous generation Fiesta and that goes for firmness goes for her too. But the current now outgoing Mondeo is firmer still I was really dissapointed by it - the seats and also the suspension much to firm. So if the now outgoing S-Max is as firm as the now outgoing Mondeo than I can say the Grand C4 Picasso is more comfortable definetly.
      How come that you didn`t wait for the upcoming S-Max? Because of the price maybe?

    • @andylie7699
      @andylie7699 9 лет назад

    a) it comes with a lifetime 100k mile warranty
    b) you can get big discounts on them new
    c) i have one, they are very good - only downside is boot space is minimal with all 7 seats up
    d) its the only mpv thats as aero-dynamic as any porsche!

    The legroom for middle row central passenger is the most comfy in Citroen, because there is no transmission tunnel. The is one more detail, which is worth of consider. Kneeroom for a driver. I checked three of them and Citroen Picasso won. I own Citroen, and have triplets. There is no ideal choice, because you can invest in your car or in the future of your children, for instance.

    The build quality of the sharan / Alhambra is miles ahead of the other two.
    They pass mot after mot and still feels as tight as it was at 100k miles as when it was new.
    The Picasso in particular turns into a bag of nails.
    It just feels so loose after a while.
    Ball joints and bushes start failing and it just feels slack.

    if getting a diesel and your dp filter light comes on you can clear it by parking somewhere, put it into neutral and hold the revs steady at 2500-3000rpm till it clears takes anywhere between 8-20mins. do not rev too hard or you will damage the engine - also only do it when the engine is warmed up

      All of the above my friend! I believe that if a consumer has to spend his hard earned money to buy a car, he should also be aware of the reliability of the maker, the problems (if any) the previous models had and what improvements (mechanical or other) the makers have made to make their products better. Spending a small fortune to buy a car, or to choose one model versus another, it is more critical (and useful) to know how much it would cost me to maintain and repair it, than which of these three cars is a couple centimeters wider or longer.

    How could the Citroen win? The SEAT is the best by miles! As for reliability it's made in the same factory as the VW Sharan and Touran. As for cost, on a monthly basis there will very little in it on a pcp due to how much more it'll be worth in 3 years, and as for servicing costs SEAT have amazingly cheap service plan at 0%! I'm not surprised it was "boomy" on the drive, you had all the seats up and only 2 people in the car! If the back seats were down and cover across there wouldn't have been an issue!

      Iain McDonald apparently not .skoa and Seat dont build in the same factories, but they are built by the same machines

      Totally agree i got one as a mobility car and its perfect and suits my needs i never have the load cover fitted due to hoist for scooter in the boot but find it fine and not boomy. Would i go for another one well no as im hoping to buy this at the end of the scheme as all adaptions already done 😀

      Honda FRV will out drive, be better on fuel economy and be more mechanically reliable and you still get a sensible boot without having to drive a van type MPV.

    • @muhamedtrakic7472
      @muhamedtrakic7472 7 лет назад

      Yes but...S-Max will be better to drive then Honda and bit more practial and almost as reliable..almost..

    Right! We are looking at an MPV. Multi-purpose-vehicle -okay? So we got the family and kids, sorted, or not, depending on which one to buy. Then, we got the guys' going off to a football match, fully loaded up - studs scratching the carpet and doors - right? Farmer Giles couldn't care less what he loads up, as long as it gets him and his pigs to market. MPV right? Next, what about guys like me? We just want to have an MPV 'for me and the Missus!' We, my wife and I, happen to like Zafira cars above all else. Other people go for other manufacturers products. They are all MPV's - right? Does one have to buy an MPV to load it up to the gunnels with teddy bears, soft drink bottles, picnic hampers, kitchen sink and the like? We, who happen to like driving an MPV, purely for the enjoyment, are rarely considered for our own views or opinions - it's always about families and their views and opinions. Why the hell they do not go the full hog and buy a double decker bus I do not know! The funny thing is, with the mass of MPV's on Britain's roads, its not often one passes you by, fully loaded up with people! I think most owners use them for carrying stuff! So, do the two rear occasional seats really matter if they are not comparable to arm chairs? Come to think about it - why do the What Car? team not consider reviewing a Challenger tank? They would certainly have problems with their considerable bulky mass getting into one of those babies'!

    So. You take 3 cars, 2 chip and one expensive. The expensive one wins allmost everthing...... No stop! It loses because is the most expensive one!!! OMG! Why? Its not the same class!

    • @whatcar

      karuzel113 Did you watch to the end of the video? If you had you would have seen that the Citroen won overall, partly because of price.

    • @karuzel113
      @karuzel113 9 лет назад

      Yes I did. Zafira and Picasso is 4,6 m long and 1,82 width, Alhambra 4,85 m lång and 1,9 width. In fakt zafira and Picasso i 5+2 and alhambra is proper 7 seat car. As many write here before me, this is not the same class. Why compare cars from 2 different class and then just make the chipset win? Take Renault clio, vw polo and Ford focus. Focus win all, but lose att the end because of the price. I have driven both alhambra and Grand picasso. Alhambra/sharan is sooooo much better then Picasso....

      karuzel113 is right. The Seat is so boring and dull. and if he wants to pay alot more money for the same car that's fine by me. but I know what I'd rather be driving around in. The fashionable Citroen. because it's an MPV that you can look cool driving.
