I think that this is one of the best reviews of late. Part of the reason being they didn`t test it from the viewpoint of boy racar so to speak - body roll in corners & heavy emphasis on the sportiness of the car rather than comfort and everyday usability of cars. I absolutely agree with the winner being Grand C4 Picasso II + the new EMP 2 platform is absolutelly amazing. This generation of the Grand C4 Picasso is not just 140 kg but 160 kg lighter than the predecessor - lower emissions & fuel consumption. The Zafira and Alhambra are heavier and firmer. By the way Seat Altea XL is the competitor of the Grand C4 Picasso and Zafira. Alhambra is understaindably bigger and more expensive because it`s competing against C8, 807, Espace, Galaxy, S-Max, etc.
I was sceptical at first buying a 2014 zafira tourer have drove everything else but absolutely love my 7seater plenty of room and comfortable brilliant and reliable made a good choice
A very good review. I owned a previous Picasso and drove it all over Europe and in all weathers. I had it from new and drove 167,000 miles without a breakdown. I love them. I had a 2002 Alhambra which my dad bought new in 2002 for 35 thousand Euro's. We put over 28 thousand miles on it before we had to sell it a few years ago. I want it back
That's the most comprehensive MPV review I've seen. I do agree with the comment about reliability of these cars; in which case I'd consider the Toyota 7 seat Verso or the VW Touran. As for the Ford Galaxy, that should be renamed the Ford Addison Lee (if you're in London you'll understand)!
The build quality of the sharan / Alhambra is miles ahead of the other two. They pass mot after mot and still feels as tight as it was at 100k miles as when it was new. The Picasso in particular turns into a bag of nails. It just feels so loose after a while. Ball joints and bushes start failing and it just feels slack.
i put the tourer first! a) it comes with a lifetime 100k mile warranty b) you can get big discounts on them new c) i have one, they are very good - only downside is boot space is minimal with all 7 seats up d) its the only mpv thats as aero-dynamic as any porsche!
What I find odd is that comfort of seats isn't really discussed.I like the seat (although -> not same class reviewers o.O) and the opel but as someone that has issues with her back, rides that take longer than 20 minutes just exclude both due to starting to hurt.Even in the VW something( high end bussiness model) it's not as comfortable as in our citroen.
I'm getting fed up of hearing about Citroens 'jerky' semi auto gearbox, yes the original was pretty hard to get to grips with but since then it has been updated three times and now unless you try and drive it like a boy racer it is pretty smooth, yes you do notice the gear changes in auto mode but nothing as dire as suggested in ALL the reviews I have seen. My Grand Scenic semi auto is actually dangerous when pulling out at junctions and roundabouts but I've never seen this or heard this mentioned in any review. I have road tested all the cars in this combined review and I am awaiting delivery of my new Citroen, best of the bunch for the money.
David Caruso lol I never heard someone call a Citroen dangerous and say it better than a German car in the same sentence and also the seat is not even in this class 😂
I dont think so, I previously test drove the Grand Picasso and the Ford S-Max, I think the suspension on the Citroen was a little jerky on bumpy roads and the wind noise was a little too much, the interior was a little nicer on the Citroen though..... So I ended up buying the S-Max and I dont regret it...
Andreas Lie Well Seat Altea XL is the competitor of the Grand C4 Picasso and Zafira. Alhambra is understaindably bigger and more expensive because it`s competing against C8, 807, Espace, Galaxy, S-Max, etc. I think that the main reason for comparisons of the Grand C4 Picasso with say the S-Max or Galaxy etc. is just it`s size. Compare the Grand C4 Picasso with the Grand C-Max and you`ll notice it`s quite bigger and more refined etc. + I sat in the Grand C4 Picasso 2 months ago and I have to say it`s comfortable. The German cars are generally way firmer both seats and suspension and I don`t like that. My sister has the previous generation Fiesta and that goes for firmness goes for her too. But the current now outgoing Mondeo is firmer still I was really dissapointed by it - the seats and also the suspension much to firm. So if the now outgoing S-Max is as firm as the now outgoing Mondeo than I can say the Grand C4 Picasso is more comfortable definetly. How come that you didn`t wait for the upcoming S-Max? Because of the price maybe?
if getting a diesel and your dp filter light comes on you can clear it by parking somewhere, put it into neutral and hold the revs steady at 2500-3000rpm till it clears takes anywhere between 8-20mins. do not rev too hard or you will damage the engine - also only do it when the engine is warmed up
The legroom for middle row central passenger is the most comfy in Citroen, because there is no transmission tunnel. The is one more detail, which is worth of consider. Kneeroom for a driver. I checked three of them and Citroen Picasso won. I own Citroen, and have triplets. There is no ideal choice, because you can invest in your car or in the future of your children, for instance.

As many write here before me, this is not the same class. Why compare cars from 2 different class and then just make the chipset win? Take Renault clio, vw polo and Ford focus. Focus win all, but lose att the end because of the price. I have driven both alhambra and Grand picasso. Alhambra/sharan is sooooo much better then Picasso....

karuzel113 i agree
karuzel113 is right. The Seat is so boring and dull. and if he wants to pay alot more money for the same car that's fine by me. but I know what I'd rather be driving around in. The fashionable Citroen. because it's an MPV that you can look cool driving.
WHAT.......NOW..WE...HAVE...A....SECOND...RECA...AND...THEY...HAVE..NOT...A...CUE...WHAT...IS...WRONG...WITH...THIS...CAR........
