Vulcan is the third son of Chris and Katherine Summers. Ed Brubaker is the one who created him...around the time M-Day happened. Excluding the part where Brubaker had him go crazy, Vulcan, real name Gabriel Summers, was uh...actually more or less a fetus when Chris and his wife were kidnapped. After Chris infamously found D'Ken in the midst of assaulting Katherine, D'Ken somehow took Fetus Gabriel from Katherine's dead body and put him in an accelerator growth chamber to mature Gabriel to his teen years. Stuff happened that had Gabriel placed on Earth, he joined as a member of the first team of new mutants who attempted to save the X-Men from Krakoa (thereby retconning Scott's escape), and well....insanity later ensued.
Now if it were me, I'd have had Gabriel be a baby left in the care of his grandparents during the Summers' Family's cross-country flight and have Scott and Alex draw a blank on his existence because of the crash as well as having a supernatural-ish force (a la the Phoenix) interfering with almost everyone's recollection of Gabriel in order to protect the Baby Summers' brother, then draw out his story from there, but that's me.

Fantastic summary. So she was pregnant when the evil emperor kidnapped them? Not a bad way to stick in a new relative. Guess I should have included him lol. Do you know when this character first appeared?
