Speed's actions were directly impacting this guy's ability to monetize the content he was making to the point where he had to put a hold on making content altogether. But even if, like you said, one of the victims had to halt the making of their video and had their revenue affected for that time period, I still don’t think he’s destroying or ruining lives because these creators don’t depend on IShowSpeed to make content so they’ll take the hit and continue on with content creation without featuring him, and no one is in a situation where not gaining money from a video featuring IShowSpeed is financially ruining them as they’re unable to get another job or source of revenue. The guy you mentioned, MattRadiant (I think you’re referencing to), has a unique case where he got like 4 claims and decided to fight them all (with how the dispute works on RUclips, they can turn the claims into strikes). Although receiving the claims, he decided to take the risk to fight them. While I don’t agree with IShowSpeed and/or his management copyright claiming others, he could’ve let the claims stay (or deleted/private the videos), not risk his channel, and continue making content without a single mention of IShowSpeed. When it comes to lives affected, I’d say maybe more so obstructed but not to a level where they’re genuinely going broke and feel depressed and have a hard time getting back up (life ruined/destroyed).

Nothing is perfect. It is the way it is because you need to give access to aome kind of justice or else the system would be abused the other way around, people would copy content and claim it as their own all the time. Its always a balancing act. Everything has downsides. RUclips could change the measures but new problems would pop up.

What they need is a constant supervising team of people who overlook ALL the claims because currently you can copy claim anything you want and get away with it. There is no intermediary who oversees these things. The current system DOESNT work plain and simple and if it is to continue to exist then RUclips needs to actually be an intermediary and look into dispute claims. In a perfect world here is how i see this would work. Someone claims a video > Uploader responds > if the claimant rejects the uploaders response then IMMEDIATELY the video is "locked" until a youtube team member looks into it. At which point each party can submit their "proof" of either fair use or ownership of said material. Then the YT team member would make a ruling decision and thats that. It wouldnt be perfect sure but it would be a far better solution then what we currently have and it would avoid alot of people getting strikes by people simply abusing the current system.

You’re assuming that the victims’ livelihood heavily depended on the videos where IShowSpeed was featured. And be for real, really think about this and factor in his audience demographic, do you seriously think that a person has spent their life savings on that crypto just from that one livestream? I’m not doubting that a very minuscule percentage of his viewers spent a little bit of money on that crypto, but considering that most of his chat was against him and denouncing what he was doing, I believe that the chances of him ruining or destroying a life are extremely unlikely.

Does it matter? By trying to do the latter through the scummy (and illegal) means of false copystriking, you run the risk of ruining someone's livelihoods. As made evident by whoever it was in the video saying he was going to stop uploading while he dealt with the claims. Because why would he waste time making a video only for it to get claimed and lose the revenue he could've made off it? Speed's actions were directly impacting this guy's ability to monetize the content he was making to the point where he had to put a hold on making content altogether. And I wouldn't be surprised if others did the same. Yes, he is ruining the lives of the people he was striking just to make some dirty money.

But even if, like you said, one of the victims had to halt the making of their video and had their revenue affected for that time period, I still don’t think he’s destroying or ruining lives because these creators don’t depend on IShowSpeed to make content so they’ll take the hit and continue on with content creation without featuring him, and no one is in a situation where not gaining money from a video featuring IShowSpeed is financially ruining them as they’re unable to get another job or source of revenue. The guy you mentioned, MattRadiant (I think you’re referencing to), has a unique case where he got like 4 claims and decided to fight them all (with how the dispute works on RUclips, they can turn the claims into strikes). Although receiving the claims, he decided to take the risk to fight them. While I don’t agree with IShowSpeed and/or his management copyright claiming others, he could’ve let the claims stay (or deleted/private the videos), not risk his channel, and continue making content without a single mention of IShowSpeed.
When it comes to lives affected, I’d say maybe more so obstructed but not to a level where they’re genuinely going broke and feel depressed and have a hard time getting back up (life ruined/destroyed).

One solution would be to do to them what Riot Games once did to tyler1 and ID ban them and any organizations their affiliated with indefinitely, then take it a step further and force them to pay all the money they had taken from those they've taken money from, as well as any interest accumulated for all the months those claims had been in force. Nothing is perfect. It is the way it is because you need to give access to aome kind of justice or else the system would be abused the other way around, people would copy content and claim it as their own all the time. Its always a balancing act. Everything has downsides. RUclips could change the measures but new problems would pop up.
@@Dislob Well yes and no. Im not saying REMOVE the feature completely. What they need is a constant supervising team of people who overlook ALL the claims because currently you can copy claim anything you want and get away with it. There is no intermediary who oversees these things.
The current system DOESNT work plain and simple and if it is to continue to exist then RUclips needs to actually be an intermediary and look into dispute claims.
In a perfect world here is how i see this would work.
Someone claims a video > Uploader responds > if the claimant rejects the uploaders response then IMMEDIATELY the video is "locked" until a youtube team member looks into it. At which point each party can submit their "proof" of either fair use or ownership of said material. Then the YT team member would make a ruling decision and thats that.
It wouldnt be perfect sure but it would be a far better solution then what we currently have and it would avoid alot of people getting strikes by people simply abusing the current system.

My point is that Google cannot change copyright law (well they could lobby for it, but the government is so slow and it’s a low priority issue, it probably won’t happen anytime soon)

People using the "I'm young" as a defense themselves for their bad actions are in fact fully aware they were going to do stupid non acceptable shit and would get away easy with it. It pisses me off so much. Especially when they normally act like adults in what they want to do and how they want to be perceived.
FR mate being 18 makes you an adult, thus prosecution from the law is permitted. No excuses

Money sadly. The world will always be cruel unfair and unforgiving. And it's gonna stay that way till humans are gone. I'm sorry to be that guy. But human species missed their chance to make any change for the better.
Takes a LOT of time, a LOT of money, and always carries the risk of, some how, the court siding w/ them and you getting counter sued.
If it was a small content creator they would be gone but this special treatment creates a layer of fear on the platform

It's actually so sad that these small creators can't express themselves without getting abused by copyright from one of the worst and BIGGEST personality on RUclips. Actually reprehensible, I just hope all of these creators can bounce back and that this doesn't discourage them and their dreams. :)

It’s great that Muta agreed to be the defense attorney in this case. Sometimes the best way to convey the truth is to have a DA (devils advocate or defense attorney, take your pick) presenting actual points to be refuted later.
