I'm still recovering from Covid; thank you for all the supportive messages, cheered me up no end! Have felt better today, so edited this video from a few weeks ago. Hope you enjoy.
Glad you’re feeling better! 😃 Would love to see a video of you explaining what Covid is like after 2 vaccines. I’ve heard it’s more like a cold, but would love to hear from someone who had it after vaccination.
One thing I really like about this scene is that Daredevil actually gets winded, dizzy, and exhausted. He's not fighting all these people without breaking a sweat, it takes a huge toll on him. Something we don't see often in action movies, especially not super hero movies.
This is the reason it's one of my favorite fight scenes in shows or movies. However, they change that in the Defenders, and he becomes more superhuman, which I didn't like.
In the show it's actually caus' he was already very seriously wounded from a previous fight (The kind that should make you unable to do that kind of stuff so soon after 😂) Still absolutely love this scene tho
I think Daredevil season 2 episode 5 when Castle is ambushed by the inmates would be a great video for you to review. Or perhaps Punisher season 2 episode 9 when Castle takes on a group of Russian gangsters in a gym.
The most ridiculous thing for me in S2 is when Daredevil wraps a chain like a whip around a goon's throat, then yanks him down multiple floors worthy of stairs. I don't remember the episode. There is absolutely NO WAY that guy isn't dead or crippled.
That one would be awesome! Actually all 3 Daredevil hallway fight scenes and that Punisher fight (and a few from his own series) would be amazing for this show.
One thing I really enjoy about the Daredevil fight scenes is that you actually see the toll it takes on him the longer the fight is. Slower movement, heavier breathing. Not like a lot of superhero shows/movies where the hero just keeps going and going without any sign of fatigue.
When people say, “The hallway fight from Daredevil,” this is the one they mean. That said, I’m sure no one would be disappointed if you chose to do any or all of the other fight scenes from Daredevil and/or Punisher.
I always wonder whether it’s worth noting the damage caused to someone’s ears from gunfire in enclosed spaces like a hallway - the shotgun looked like it was only inches from a man’s ear at 2:33! I don’t think that people really understand just how loud those things are!
Any Jackie Chan fight scene, I'm sure him and his stunt team who do those stunts have injuries all over their body. No insurance company would dare to take them up. The man is even in the guiness book of world records for death defying stunts. 😁
Very cool commentary on a great scene. It would have been interesting to hear your assessment of Matt's (Daredevil's) injuries going into this fight scene. He was badly hurt and treated by a nurse, Claire, one of the best characters in the show. He goes unconscious more than once and rests for maybe a handful of hours. When he had recovered enough to stay on his feet, he went off to this fight.
Definitely consider checking out any of the fight scenes from The Raid 1 or 2. The hallway fight in the first movie or warehouse fight in the second would be perfect.
I didn't see your comment so I suggested the same thing - the hallway scene in particular is amazing. Speaking of hallway scenes, there's also the one from the original Oldboy which would be worth going through.
@@phantomkitten73 Ah yes. Someone finally mentioned The Night comes for us. It is more brutal than The raid and while some of the fights may looked awkward. The final fight one is without a doubt one of the best ever made imo
@@ajinurfajri1952: Yeah, The Night Comes For Us is incredible, but Gangs of London is actually the underrated one here. I'm also very excited for Havoc and Timo's next segment in V/H/S/94.
Glad you're on the mend from Covid. If people were just saying "Daredevil hallway fight", then it was 99% certainty they were talking about this one, as it is the seminal and best Daredevil hallway fight. However, FYI, yes season 2 does have another hallway fight, and there's also a pretty fun one in The Defenders. I'm pretty sure all of them happen in episode 3 of their respective series.
So brutal! I did two fight scenes from the first episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier (ruclips.net/video/gnmxNKdCyPE/видео.html). No plans to do anymore as yet!
This is one of my favourite fights ever. Sad that we wont likely to see more of the Daredevil anymore Btw. The hallway scene from the raid is a worth to check too
It's interesting that you're not able to identify a clear "kill count," because Daredevil's rule of combat is to hurt the hell out of people but to never cross the line of killing. I think is an astonishing level of detail. Further, the choreography standing up so well even when scrutinized this closely is an amazing feat. They only had small numbers of days to pull these fight scenes off. Had they been doing film these scenes would have had weeks to prepare and execute. The fact that we can view this so closely and the hits still look "real" is otherworldly.
I would like to see a breakdown of some of The Raid fights in the next video. They did a pretty damn good job that you can cleary see where the punches or other attacks went and it actually hurts to watch
I would be interested in hearing what you think about the hits Daredevil takes in context of the severe pre-existing trauma he is already suffering from. There is a scene with him talking to Rosario Dawson on a coach that goes into all that happened to him.

Hope you’ll do a breakdown of the one-take Hallway fight scenes from season 2 and 3 (or any of the other Daredevil action scenes!
As others have mentioned, the Marvel Netflix shows have a lot of notable fight scenes, from the various violent and bloody fights of The Punisher, Publisher’s prison fight scenes in Daredevil season 2, the elevated fight hallway fights in the second in third seasons of Daredevil, Daredevil’s numerous fights with Wilson Fisk (the Kingpin), the Crispus Atticus fight in Luke Cage, the bar fight in the first season of Jessica Jones, the hallway fight in Defenders, and more.
I really love and like Dr. Hope's Sick explaining about what bones are broken when when you get punched so strongly in every part of your body. Oh by the way, can you rapid fight scene trauma diagnosis the fight between Billy Russo vs Frank Castle battle in The Punisher Television series Season 1.
Punisher fights should definitely be next, though choosing one will be hard. Daredevil S2E9, Punisher S1E1, Punisher S2E1, Punisher S2E5 are good ones. I'd also be curious about what you say about Punisher S1E13, but it's one on one fight.
Please do a trauma diagnosis video for Road House (starring Patrick Swayze) in all its ridiculousness! (Ripping out someone’s throat with his bare hands?) Best wishes for your speedy recovery!
Other people have been saying this too but if you're looking to break down some serious trauma doing a video on the gym fight in The Punisher season 2 episode 9 will definitely do the trick.
The reason it knocks you out is because the hit would first hit a temple making you feel dizzy and unstable it would also stop your brain from sending signals to the rest of your body as your brain goes in to shock causing you to go to sleep I.e the brain stops working for a bit
Just found your channel recently and I’m hooked. I did years of martial arts so I love these breakdówns of the injuries, especially the fights with no/few Guns. Keep up the awesome content and get well super fast.
I always thought we went limp after getting KO'd because it was the body's way of minimising injury, and I based that on the way drunk drivers seemingly come out of horrific traffic collisions basically unscathed. The looser we are, the less damage we take, so our body forces us to go completely limp to potentially minimise damage as a kind of automatic defense system. Just my uneducated guess.
On the subject of lots of blows to the face, Daredevil’s dad was a boxer, so that might have influenced the style somewhat. I do really like how everybody gets tired and there’s moments where the action stops or slows where they’re all clearly thinking “Man, this sucks.” Before jumping in with gusto to try and end it.
The Protector staircase fight, all in one take, lots of physical damage, Tony Jaa was really hitting the stuntpeople in a lot of shots, they couldn't stop filming and kept it all in, he's known for full contact fights. Also the bone-breaking scene where he fights 2 dozen guys. Jeeja Yanin is also known for full contact fight scenes, she's a cross between Tony Jaa and Jackie Chan, Chocolate and Raging Phoenix are really good.
Sounds like you haven't watched Daredevil? Really recommend it! for me it's probably my favourite thing to have come out of the MCU. Still can't believe they cancelled it...
I suspect it is probably a matter of Disney clawing back rights to anything Marvel. Netflix had some really amazing Marvel series with Daredevil being (in my opinion) the best of them. However, Netflix probably isn't allowed to make anything new and it's highly unlikely that Disney will try to replicate Netflix's success because, quite frankly, none of those series were even remotely close to being woke enough for Disney's taste. If Disney does try to do more of these shows with an emphasis on their woke politics, it may horribly backfire. Can you seriously imagine new Daredevil or Punisher episodes with a slathering of identity politics? It would be an abysmal failure. There was simply no need for any of that stuff in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Punisher, or Iron Fist, because the characters were already great and didn't need to pander. Those series stand on their own as excellent productions.
I liked this scene precisely because it wasn't too over the top. Also, I thought it showed Daredevil's early training in boxing. Thanks for this. Feel better.
There's a hallway scene in every season of Daredevil. Season 2 and Season 3 are good but in my opinion this is the best one. They hide the transition from Charlie Cox to stunt double the best in this scene.
I don't know if fight scenes from 18+ films are appropriate but if so I have a few suggestions which would be super cool to see you cover 1 - The hallway scene from Oldboy (the 2003 Korean one, NOT the 2013 American remake) 2 - Pretty much any scene from The Raid: Redemption, but specifically there's one in a youtube video titled "Rama Defeats The Machete Gang | The Raid: Redemption". There's not actually that much blood that I can see and you could easily censor what there is.
One thing that came to my mind is that sometimes you have to assume what is meant to have happened but wasn't shown for the stunt men's safety. I.e., looking at where the person hit is pretending to have been hit, rather than where the move really landed (for example with the "wrestling" kick that must have been awfully difficult to land precisely, especially after such a long take already). AS a result, the biggest move/injury you missed, is probably at around 4:15, where you spoke about the "one-armed shoulder role" - obviously, the stunt men went with the movement to not get hurt but it is likely that there was a *wrist lock joint manipulation* forcing him to do that roll. I always wondered what the long-term effect of such a move could be.
It's great to have you back, Doctor! I also have a fight scene for you. How about Bob Odenkirk's bus battle in the movie Nobody? If you're still recovering, I hope you take some time off for some self care. That's always more important.
Glad you're feeling better doc! If I were to suggest one is suggest the scene where dardevil rescues Frank castle in season 2 episode 4 with a pre breakdown of castles potential injuries from the torture?
7:12 I'm upset he didn't bring up this guy being flipped and "pushed" into the concrete floor without breaking his fall. Landing like that he's having some spinal injuries if he's lucky, if he's unlucky he cracks his skull on the concrete floor and dies from a hematoma.
I know this sound like something from a broken record But really I never clicked this fast on a notifacation before Ive been waiting for this one! All hallway fight scenes on Netflix Daredevil are good And im glad you started with this one Daredevil rarely kills when he fight And he has this ability called "Radar Sense" Which is sometimes portrayed as ultrasounds, which he can also use to assess their injuries So i believe that Daredevil hit them in a way they would survive the beating Anyways Be careful out there, Doc And hoping for your fast recovery! :)
Yeah there is another in the second season where DD has a gun taped to one hand and a chain taped to the other. I’d love to see your assessment of that as well as the Punisher scene against some Russians in a gym.
This video is awesome could you do the fight in The Bourne Identity where Jason fights a man with a knife with a pen. Its a really cool fight scene if you could do that, that would be awesome.
Ah, this is one of my all time favorite fight scenes. Very cool break down! though not exactly a fight scene, the opening scramble up a tree in Ong Bak could make a great video.
Have you done the hallway fight from Gross Point Blank yet? I should check. There’s a lot of blocking in that one IIRC, but I think diagnosing the blows that don’t land would be as interesting as those that do.

7:12 I'm upset he didn't bring up this guy being flipped and "pushed" into the concrete floor without breaking his fall. Landing like that he's having some spinal injuries if he's lucky, if he's unlucky he cracks his skull on the concrete floor and dies from a hematoma.
I know this sound like something from a broken record
But really
I never clicked this fast on a notifacation before
Ive been waiting for this one!
All hallway fight scenes on Netflix Daredevil are good
And im glad you started with this one
Daredevil rarely kills when he fight
And he has this ability called "Radar Sense"
Which is sometimes portrayed as ultrasounds, which he can also use to assess their injuries
So i believe that Daredevil hit them in a way they would survive the beating
Anyways
Be careful out there, Doc
And hoping for your fast recovery!
:)
Would love to see some breakdowns of Banshee’s fight scenes!
Thanks for making this, it was one I was hoping you would choose this scene. I hope you feel better soon.
Hope the show coming back, amazing video btw
I've been so excited for this one. Hope you're keeping well, thanks for this video!
Please get well soon mate! Also worth checking out The Raid, has a bunch of cool fight sequences worth examining
Yeah, they'll probably be fine since it's a comic book show, but even then, these sorts of videos are genuinely amazing!
The bar fight scene at the end of Avengement is brutal and very nice. Also, any of the Raid films or the Stairway scene from Tony Jaa's The Protector.
Don't know if you've already done this one or not, but the hall way scene in OldBoy 2003 is a really good fight scene
Punisher prison fight from daredevil season 2 or the Punisher gym fight in his own series. Basically any Punisher fight.
Today is a great day
I just re watched the scene today morning
Love the series and Dr Hope
Hey man get well soon
Hope you feel better. I think the season 2 stairwell fight may be another interesting one for you once you feel better.
Ah, this is one of my all time favorite fight scenes. Very cool break down! though not exactly a fight scene, the opening scramble up a tree in Ong Bak could make a great video.
Your videos always make my day, Dr Ed! I hope that your recovery goes by smoothly! ❤️
2:35 You completely ignored the likely noise-induced tympanic membrane perforation from a shotgun going off directly beside the goon's head.
I was so happy to see this video because it meant you were recovering *and* that your girlfriend wasn't seriously ill too!
Big ole Hug from Texas!
Have you done the hallway fight from Gross Point Blank yet? I should check. There’s a lot of blocking in that one IIRC, but I think diagnosing the blows that don’t land would be as interesting as those that do.
Loving your videos! Please keep up the great work!
Hope you're feeling better, and great vid!
Daredevil and The Great White Hope. The first one knocks 'em down and the second picks them back up, or at least performs the autopsy.
congrats on half a million! (in a few days!)
