I know we all have our memories with Type O and Pete Steele. This is my story of when I met him…I met Pete when I was 9 or 10. I was in Brooklyn and my parents raised me to go to their concerts in the City, along with others like Tool, White Zombie, Korn, KMFDM, and Metallica in the 90s. Pretty much all of the major 90s rock bands. Anyway…My mom went to get the car and left me with my aunt Paula. We waited for her and I had a pair of white shorts on. We waited a WHILE after the show ended, hoping to meet them. Then he comes out…I knew immediately it was him (he obv changed clothes) bc he was HUGE! ESP to a 10 year old. I looked at my aunt and she was in awe. We were frozen. He laughed and picked me up on his shoulder. He ended up carrying my out and my mom showed up with the car and she’s like “holy sh!t, how…?” Lol she was lost for words. He had such a deep voice, and I felt like I was on top of the world. I remember asking him, “is that what it’s like to see things from your height?” 😂 I couldn’t believe how tall he was, and with me on his shoulder walking around, it was awesome. No other words for it. The whole band signed my Type O poster I got at the show and they all signed the white shorts I was wearing!! (I’m well aware how nowadays people would be like “oh my God! I can’t believe your parents allowed this, blah blah blah” with how people are these days vs the 90s when things were so much simpler) I just remembered seeing them in concert growing up more so than I ever have any other band. Christian Woman and Black No. 1 will always bring back memories for me. The guys from the band, esp Pete, were so so so cool. He looked at me with my eyes all big and in shock to see him and instead of just walking by, he came to me! He knelt down and said, “hey there, I’m Pete. Who do I have the pleasure of meeting with?” I told him my name. He asked if my aunt was my mom and I said no, she’s getting the car. I had a smile from ear to ear. I was so happy. He said, “I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if I met her as well?” My aunt Paula said “of course…oh my God!” I just couldn’t stop smiling and I was so giddy. The guys from the band waited outside in the front of the venue for my mom to pull up. I was somewhat freaking out bc we thought we missed out on meeting them so when my mom left for a few min, she took the poster. So they were signing my shorts while he had me lifted up, then he carried me like across his body, like you would a baby almost, and the rest of the band signed my shorts as well. It was great. He asked if he could sign my shorts with me lifted up bc he couldn’t reach that far down if he knelt down to sign them since I was so little and he was so big. Haha. I will never ever forget him, his voice, his body, his kindness. Like all the comments below, he was the nicest man ever. The whole band were so nice. He spent so much time with me; I’m sure they wanted to leave but he seemed to have just as much fun with me as I did with him. I could see in his eyes he was like a kid again. I just felt that connection with him, even though it was momentary. Rest Peacefully Pete, you are always missed. Wherever you are, I hope you aren’t in pain anymore. And just know-you had such an impact on so many people’s lives…you made one kid’s day and I’m certain I’m not the only kiddo he met after a show and did that with. Just know that leaves a huge impact on people and again, I’m forever grateful for those memories of watching you guys play in locations all over Brooklyn and the City, as well as the memory of you being so kind and respectful to my mom, my aunt, and myself…it was a moment of a lifetime. RIP♥️Thank you for being the person you were. I’ll forever have your songs in my playlist and those memories replaying in my mind. You’re truly one of a kind.

So i've never heard of the band Black Veil Brides, so when I saw the title of this video I thought that women wore black wedding gowns and veils to a Pantera concert to honor Pete... That would have been awesome!
By far, the most FUCKING FRUSTRATING part of this video is 2:48, where they connect Pete Steele, PETE MUTHERFUKKIN-STEELE with the BVB!!! That is such bullshit! Don't smite Pete's memory with such unearned and undeserved comparisons!
What would those 3 girls at the end know of Peter Steele and Type O Negative? I bet Type O Negative knew nothing of those girls and probably wouldn't even have pissed in their direction.
bout time someone sees! I dont know what the fucking deal is with them. They aren't that damn great. They aren't even worthy of being a pimple on Peter's ass!
seen TON 3 x : 1. one time on hard rock festival "Waldrock" it took them 5-10 minutes to "warm up" but after that they where as good as on the record / larger then life / amazing 2. a tour with coal chamber i think , i didn't have a ticket ( to late / sold out ) but "of we went anyway" sneaked in at a side entrance. the PA wa so damn incredible loud that my eardrums started to hurt. ( i guess the sound man fucked it up REALLY bad ) 3. Paradiso / Amsterdam : Great show with the fake snowflakes / many "goth" girls the man and the music are missed sorely
Look, any goth girl before I'd say 2014 or 2015 much less 2010 is a real goth lmao well, a LOT more likely. But yeah, and concerts are always pretty loud, especially if you're near the stage.
I don't know who the fuck they are but how the fuck are they being compared to him they first are paying tribute and second the video is saying that the band was influenced by The Big Guy
I hate how Anselmo has become such a sell out now. Denouncing the Confederate flag and some of his older songs. Definitely not the Pantera I knew from the 90s
I wanna hear what Phil & Rex had to say about him, obviously Phil had a lot more to say...I'm not the only one who feels double depressed on tax day. Miss the era of music that was the best but at least I got to live it first hand. RIP you goofy green bastard, 3 years and it still hurts like hell...
it pisses me off when people hate on black veil brides for being different, a vast majority of these people tend to not even sample some of their heavy rock n roll, glam type metal, no one even considers the possibility that MAYBE these kids who had been mercilessly bullied for being who they are dedicated and invested everything they have into their music, the whole glam look that they modelled was in homage to bands such as : Alice cooper, motley crüe, wasp, the Misfits etc, I understand that some of their earlier content was more or less considered " emo " which I agree with to a certain degree, but their modern music is heavy and rock and roll oriented which I love due to my love for old school metal and rock which include bands such as : Metallica, pantera, avenged, megadeth, down, type o negative etc, another aspect of their look is more of a Gothic look that derived from afi, billy idol and depeche mode which also are great bands. I apologise for the rant but I just wanted to declare how I feel on the whole black veil brides situation
Not to mention BvB has gotten props directly from Nikki Sixx, Alice Cooper, Doyle + Jerry Only, Zakk Wylde (who even played on a BVB EP), Chris Jericho, Dee Snider, Paul Stanley + Gene Simmons, even Robb and Phil from MACHINE HEAD made a huge Facebook post defending BvB after they were getting shit on for having dummy cabs! Metal elitists just want someone to piss on
cooleobrad As much as i respect those artists, you are forgetting that they are not the ones who decide my taste in music, or in humans for that matter. And no, i am not looking for someone to piss on.I just don't like the bvb. I think they are a bunch of shouty loudmouthed brats, especially the singer. See now you made a huge RUclips post without changing my opinion, yob well done.
I wasn't replying to you, notice there is no '+GoldberryVideos' in my comment, but it was instead adding onto what Juggerbug said. If you are talking about the golden gods thing, Andy has since apologized multiple times and seems much more level headed now, though I don't really blame him for getting pissed off. I get that some people just genuinely don't like the music, but I find a lot of times people in the metal/rock community shit on them because of their looks while 1) enjoying bands that dress similarly and 2) having never actually listened to bvb.
"Cornivore"? "CORNivore"? Lady, it's CARNIVORE! And I completely agree with DoomgothHolocaust. Mentioning Black Veil Brides in the same sentence should only be to contrast how much BVB sucks compared to TO-!
Cause they were teens at the time fool. Not even Avenged sevenfold was around the same time TON started. Avenged sevenfold didn't started like in 2001 till 2005. Bvb started in like 2006 to 2010.

Male Supremacy is one of Pete's best songs.
Metal music in Germany is still on top and being praised !
The way they cut off Phil lol
When people talk about Peter I feel some type of deep spiritual connection to him …
What happened with Phil Anselmo voice strings?
Type O got me through the crappy late 90's.
He thinks the way I do he is so. Beautiful i
He was a fucking king among men
miss you pete
RIP my angel
What would those 3 girls at the end know of Peter Steele and Type O Negative? I bet Type O Negative knew nothing of those girls and probably wouldn't even have pissed in their direction.
I think they may have been males of some sort.
bout time someone sees! I dont know what the fucking deal is with them. They aren't that damn great. They aren't even worthy of being a pimple on Peter's ass!
+Kenneth921000 or threw wine over them
+Charlie Crockett Didnt his ass have a Tattoo with Exit only on?
+Rc-Nerd I think so
video ends 2:50 heads up
Thank you kind sir please come again!
seen TON 3 x :
1. one time on hard rock festival "Waldrock"
it took them 5-10 minutes to "warm up" but after that they where as good as on the record / larger then life / amazing
2. a tour with coal chamber i think , i didn't have a ticket ( to late / sold out )
but "of we went anyway" sneaked in at a side entrance.
the PA wa so damn incredible loud that my eardrums started to hurt.
( i guess the sound man fucked it up REALLY bad )
3. Paradiso / Amsterdam : Great show with the fake snowflakes / many "goth" girls
the man and the music are missed sorely
Look, any goth girl before I'd say 2014 or 2015 much less 2010 is a real goth lmao well, a LOT more likely. But yeah, and concerts are always pretty loud, especially if you're near the stage.
i seen them live in chicago with motley crue and i was a fan forever
Bloody Kisses was played non stop back in the day when me and my then gf had our private sessions. RIP Pete.
Peter is forever missed. RIP.
Seeing BVB talk about Peter makes me cry so much 😭
Ty for sharing friends 🌎
Thank you
OMFG. Black Veil Brides -___- Shoot me.... PETER STEELE compared to those 3. Ugh. Sick.
I don't know who the fuck they are but how the fuck are they being compared to him they first are paying tribute and second the video is saying that the band was influenced by The Big Guy
Did they really just put the names Pantera and Black Veil Brides next to each other in the title?
RIP Green Man
That's awesome, sabbath178!! Very lucky!!
Phil's comment was the best.
I hate how Anselmo has become such a sell out now. Denouncing the Confederate flag and some of his older songs. Definitely not the Pantera I knew from the 90s
I still miss him. 😪
"Cornivore."
eventually going to help a frined form a type o negitive coverband...or somthing like that...peter steele was and still is a legend!!
😂😂😂 what was he...6' "8, 9, 10!?🤣 Fucking huge! Forever Steele in the heart!
it pisses me off when people hate on black veil brides for being different, a vast majority of these people tend to not even sample some of their heavy rock n roll, glam type metal, no one even considers the possibility that MAYBE these kids who had been mercilessly bullied for being who they are dedicated and invested everything they have into their music, the whole glam look that they modelled was in homage to bands such as : Alice cooper, motley crüe, wasp, the Misfits etc, I understand that some of their earlier content was more or less considered " emo " which I agree with to a certain degree, but their modern music is heavy and rock and roll oriented which I love due to my love for old school metal and rock which include bands such as : Metallica, pantera, avenged, megadeth, down, type o negative etc, another aspect of their look is more of a Gothic look that derived from afi, billy idol and depeche mode which also are great bands. I apologise for the rant but I just wanted to declare how I feel on the whole black veil brides situation
People dont hate on them because theire different, its because they are dicks
I get that some people just genuinely don't like the music, but I find a lot of times people in the metal/rock community shit on them because of their looks while 1) enjoying bands that dress similarly and 2) having never actually listened to bvb.
and for some reason there isn't a +goldberryvideos in that comment but that one IS meant to reply to you. silly youtube :p
type O love em
phil out lives peter amazes me
RIP Peter!
Man of all men, HIGHEST IN LAND
those goth chicks with tattoos are hot. but look just a tiny bit like guys
Love you pete
You are still greatly missed.
I love Black Veil Brides and hearing andy saying that they were somewhat of an inspiration? how come I haven't heard Type O Negative before?!?!??!?!
Lolz
Glad! All hail Vinnland
Rip big Pete man..
Listen again. He said "We we're just like, totally, shucks, we we're both big fans."
"Cornivore"? "CORNivore"? Lady, it's CARNIVORE! And I completely agree with DoomgothHolocaust. Mentioning Black Veil Brides in the same sentence should only be to contrast how much BVB sucks compared to TO-!
2:54 wooooaaahhh he sounds like Pete.
Could have interviewed Moonspell but nope BVB
He was beautifully dark
Peter Steele should have been on the HBO series True Blood.
BVB lmao, you weren't even a thought when Type O was around.
Cause they were teens at the time fool. Not even Avenged sevenfold was around the same time TON started. Avenged sevenfold didn't started like in 2001 till 2005. Bvb started in like 2006 to 2010.
them tools at 3:00
‘If not for the fear of being on stage and touring...eventually overcame enough to do a world tour’
2:55 I wonder how they would feel when they grow up and think about spending thousands of dollars in teenage ideas tattoos...
You'd think if Andy Biersack listened to Type O everyday he'd make some decent, thought-provoking and proggy songs...
Phil is a fuckin' survivor but he should stop drinking !
RIP Peter We miss you :( I saw you in 1999 in Paris and you were one of my hero.
