Duke nukem forever. A game that spent 11 years in development hell, jumping from platform to platform. And when it eventually came out. No one cared. Probably one of the worst games that released in 2011
It was probably the most well known case of vaporware till it finally released. Aaaannnnddd, it wasn't worth the wait. Like you said, one of the worst games of the year.
Duke Nukem is the biggest travesty for me, such a great franchise 😢 Wish it got more love than what Forever ended up getting and was still going today!
What killer DNF was it's abysmal load times, at least on console. Recently revisited on a modern PC and damn, night and day. Now if I could.just get past the turd throwing simulator
When you look at Duke Nukem, it's actually one dirt average platformer, one fairly good platformer (DN2,) one exceptionally enjoyable and charming FPS (DN3D,) another fairly good platformer (Manhattan Project,) and then a whole bunch of spinoffs that weren't really all that great (TTK, Zero Hour, LotB, Critical Mass, etc.) If the 2001 build of Forever had been completed on time, and even if it had been as enjoyable as DN3D, it would probably still be another boring production line franchise like the rest by now anyway. Either way, when you get down to it DN3D is the series' only absolute hit.
For me, the demise of their respective series after Dawn of War 3, Grandia 3, Ninja Gaiden 3 and Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter really hurt given how great their series usually were. And then there is the Might and Magic series which pretty much got killed by Ubisoft. Both the main series and the more famous Heroes spinoff got killed by them after they took over.
& as always fellow gamers, here are 10 more games worth mentioning: Dead or Alive 6 Dino Crisis 3 Fighting Force 2 inFamous: Second Son Just Cause 4 Mercenaries 2: World in Flames Prototype 2 Saints Row (2022) TimeSplitters 3: Future Perfect Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return (or Tombi! 2 if you want to get European about this)
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596 I believe it is. The producers stated that due to poor sales of DOA6, next DOA game will be a reboot, but it won't enter production any time soon.
Driver San Francisco is not the last game in the series. There was one more game called Driver Speedboat Paradise. It was not received well and people hated it before the series is killed off. Do your research. 8:03 The fact that you said the later games were average is really insulting. Parallel Lines is a good game and its clear that you never play at all
I got the balls of steek edition of duke nukem at GameStop for $10 right around release. I didn't understand why it was so cheap until i played it. I haven't played it since.
Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie were moments in time. I’m not sure that magic can be recaptured but both Nuts & Bolts and Yooka-Laylee missed the mark by a wide margin.
I'd also give a mention to Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash, AKA the time Nintendo totally misunderstood what fans wanted from a Chibi-Robo game, and because of this spectacular misfire, we'll never get another one again.
Simon Miller jokes are the best! there should be five or six of them in every video Triple Jump and Cultaholic make. They're just as fresh and funny, now, as the first time I'd ever heard them.
Nosgoth should be on this list. They took the Legacy of Kain world, those amazing story, characters and gameplay and turn into that. My god how that game is terrible
Bubsy 3D and Saints Row 4 are not the last games in their franchise and Saints Row 4 was pretty good. I don't know why the hell Bubsy came back. He was better off dead.
You forgot Failo Infinite that killed the Halo franchise and Gears 5...Redfail and Starfail that killed Bethesda and also those trash games i can't remember the names that killed Rare 😂
I so expected the FlatOut series to be on this list, the FlatOut games were absolutely incredible... then FlatOut 3 and 4 happened, which was just ... FlatOut embarrasing, heh
Today was the *1* year anniversary of when "10 Games That Killed Their Franchise" was uploaded! "Duke Nukem Forever" is the quintessential example of a game that killed its franchise. There have been no *new* entries for over a decade! I don't see that changing anytime soon. 🤓➡️😅
I actually like Duke Nukem Forever. It was a very enjoyable game, I like all the Duke Nukem games as well as this one, and I'm friends with the Duke Nukem VA on Facebook. Saints Row 2022 Reboot should've been on this list because it killed the franchise and caused Volition to shut down.
Another awful entry that killed a great franchise: "Dissidia NT" After the first two "Dissidia" games on PSP were such content packed powerhouses somehow Square Enix managed to create a game that had 200% LESS content on a way more powerful hardware than its predecessors.....
Duke Nukem sucks now and it sucks forever. It will probably be gone forever. I thought Alone in the Dark is still around. Isn't there a new game coming? The franchise isn't considered dead if games are still being made for it.

15 years, not 11
@@KadeemG61 yeah. I’m not too familiar with duke nukem forever’s development. All I know is it took forever (see what i did there) in development
Virtua Fighter 5 killed that franchise. game originally came out in July 12, 2006 and there hasnt been a new title since
Duke Nukem is sadly a saga that cannot be rebooted.
Imagine making a joke in 2023. This glass generation wouldn't allow it
The Saints Row reboot also pretty much killed the franchise - developer Volition was shut down.
Thief 2014 should be on this list. The developers had NO idea what made the series so great.

I think the problem with Duke Nukem is that games had moved on but Duke Nukem hadn’t.
I mean… he’s on the thumbnail so sure yeah I thought he might be in the list…
Def Jam Icon. Not only did that kill the franchise, but it also cremated it, ate the ashes then defecated it 😂
If i remember right sekiro started life as the next tenchu game but then morphed into what we got.
Earthworm Jim 3D if no one has said it yet.
& as always fellow gamers, here are 10 more games worth mentioning:
Dead or Alive 6
Dino Crisis 3
Fighting Force 2
inFamous: Second Son
Just Cause 4
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
Prototype 2
Saints Row (2022)
TimeSplitters 3: Future Perfect
Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return (or Tombi! 2 if you want to get European about this)
Is Dead or Alive considered dead yet?

How many cool games they could make with the Golden Axe franchise?..

Earthworm jim 3d, busby 3d, saints row 4, MK4/gold, liller instict xbox one, ridge racer accelerated and unbound.
Bubsy 3D and Saints Row 4 are not the last games in their franchise and Saints Row 4 was pretty good. I don't know why the hell Bubsy came back. He was better off dead.
Mortal Kombat is still alive today though
So Driv3r wasn't the last one, and there was a successful one after? Kinda seems like a stretch.
The OG Tenchu game was so damn good! It’s a real shame how that franchise turned out
LA Rush completely killed the Rush series, it aped Need For Speed Underground and failed miserably.
It never started to begin with. A bunch of arcade games that no one cares about
I'd add the Saints Row reboot to the list.
Pour one out for Chibi-Robo; poor little guy never stood a chance once Nintendo decided to leave his future in the hands of Zip Lash...

Halo Reach actually killed what Halo used to be but idiots will tell you it's the best one
Can you say more as to why? It could be a point of transition but it adhered firmly to the same formula as its predecessors.
