Brandin Podziemsk has had a unique journey to the NBA. Most stars pick up the ball when they are toddlers and are already practicing their dribble packages by the time they can walk. But Brandin Podziemsk was busy playing baseball for most of his childhood. However, upon discovering his love for basketball, he went all in right away and became obsessive. This obsessiveness combined with his unrelenting work ethic resulted in him outperforming his competition wherever he went and carving for himself a unique role in the NBA. GSW continues its tradition of finding treasure in unlikely places. The way Brandin plays and fits in the Warriors system is perfect you can never tell he's just a rookie. He plays better than half of the NBA vets.
what's more underrated is Santa Clara's player development to get to the NBA. Without a doubt, if I was a player who needed to raise their nba draft stock, hell I would go to Santa Clara University.
I didn't think we needed podz but after watching him for half of season my attitude is that we are lucky to have him. He plays with such hustle i can much appericate his effort on the defensive end

I love him so much and appreciate him, he is the perfect player for this team and i'm so happy that he is on my Warriors.
He always makes the extra hustle plays and I feel confident in our team whenever he is in the game. He is an excellent shooter and one of the best rebounding guards in the league, and I didn't mention that he leads the NBA in chargers drawn with about 22. He is so underrated and doesn't play like a rookie at all.
I hope that we keep him for the long future and won't trade him because I enjoy watching him so much

All warriors fans love Podziemski, and all fans of the game really love him. GSW is so lucky to get him, and to have already had the situation develop to give him huge minutes so early in his career to jumpstart everything. Few rookies get a chance like this AND have the work ethic and intelligence to benefit from it.
But why do people always harp on about taxes? If you are getting a straight up payment for services like NBA stars, you are going to have to pay $183,647 plus 37% above $609,350, with very few significant deductions available. Ordinary income is what it is. And the California taxes are $67,876 plus 12.3% above $698,271. So on approximately four million earned, he will bring home about 2.1 million. Just to restate, he will bring home more than 2 million. He will also probably get some deductions, so he might bring home as much 2.2 million. If he is wise, he will invest a substantial amount of this to generate future, lifelong earnings. Lets estimate him spending $500k on various lifestyle choices and handing the rest over to be invested, $1.7 million each of the next four years. Even at only 8% returns (if no selling, no taxes), that's $7.65 million built up in investments while spending another $2 million.
I don't know why people feel outrage and sorrow over taxes like this.

This is expected because most people have not studied micro and macro economics, most people do not understand taxation systems from around the world, most do not understand wealth and ownership, nor do most think critically about what they write online. Let me educate you just a bit.
You have grossly misused the phrase "taxation without representation". I assume you picked up on this phrase in your elementary history lessons around the 4th-6th grade. And thus you were educated on the meaning of the phrase. Then you refer to the "elected people" showing you do indeed know that the taxes have been set by people who represent the tax payers. SMH, you get no sympathy points for this knowing false argument.
You make the claim that Podziemski is a regular dude. Someone earning four million dollars a year for their labor is definitionally not a regular dude. Earning $650k a year makes you a 1%'er. Less than 0.1% make a million a year. Podziemski is far beyond that. He is decidedly rich. He is at the beginning of that wealth, but in less than a season has already brought home after taxes more income than an average household will bring in the husband+wifes entire lifetime. Think about that before you claim someone is a "regular dude". Podziemski is already in the top 3% by net worth, will be in the top 2% by end of next year, will be in the top 1% before his rookie contract is done. So he has a top 0.1% income, and is already in the top 3% of net worth at 20 years old.
Mega corporations are primarily held by index funds, mutual funds, the founders, and sometimes top executives (via stock grants and options). Index funds alone account for about 30% of the ownership of all these mega corporations. And index funds (and mutual funds) are primarily held by middleclass class workers with 401k programs. One effect of trying to take as much money as you can from mega corporations is to impoverish the savings for retirement of 75% of people older than millennials. If you want to take more taxes from the wealthy you need to directly tax the wealthy, not the corporations. These are fairly basic ideas.
But you did hit on an issue that remains unresolved. When mega corporations have higher costs (increased taxes being one of those) they often raise prices. But can a government prevent those rises in price? I'm not sure how unless you turn to a full price-controlled market from a communist or similar government. And we have excellent examples of the failures inherent in price controlled markets.
I look forward to your reply, and hope you see some flaw in my thinking you would wish to explore.

I will concede that Podz and his “over-paid” athlete ilk are closer to the ruling elite than they are “regular dudes” in regard to finances, BUT part of the colloquial context of the sentiment is that regular folk relate to athletes and artists more than the wholly money driven breed of investment banker & CEOs… do you feel what I’m saying there?

Brad Underwood hates playing freshmen. It's fundamentally against his coaching philosophy. That's the only reason Podziemski didn't work out at Illinois. Underwood digs his heels in and refuses to play more talented freshmen and sophomores, in favor of juniors and seniors with less raw talent. Glad Brandin transferred and got to show that he was always the better player than his minutes at Illinois showed.

I'm a GSW fan so I really like Poz but humble? Have you seen his early interviews?
When they drafted him I knew nothing about him, and given some of the others that went in picks around him I though GSW messed up, glad to say I couldn't be more wrong, he's a solution to so many problems, he's a glue guy and a hole filler, need boards, he's there, need hustle, play making, steals, defense, a clutch 3 or inside shot, he's already pretty reliable and is just going to get better.
