Mitigating circumstances weighing far beyond reasonable doubt, given evidence in terms of authenticated communications to family members and friends in the form of letters before the fact, together with testimonies from the Menendez brothers, extended family and friends throughout their initial trail indicative of sexual, emotional and physical abuse should be the cause for motion to have their sentence reduced to a lesser sentence of voluntary manslaughter. The whole reason they were convicted of first-degree murder in the first place, despite it being manslaughter, was because it was a high profile case. The DA was desperate to convict them after a series of losses and did every dirty trick in the book to win the case. So you mean not fair for the brothers!
PEOPLE FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD ARE ASKING FOR THEIR RELEASE and not only thanks to the Netflix series. They've paid enough for their crime! Set them free! They deserve freedom after their insane childhood.
Their parents deserved their day in court but they are not getting that ever! Those brothers were of age to walk away and never return but they choose to kill instead.
This really has nothing to do with the Netflix serie. As a polyglot and law student I saw Spanish interviews prior to the Netflix series about this case and one of the victims telling his story( a member of the Menudo boyband) that he was SA by the father of the Menéndez brothers more than once.
I think that they will end their days in prison. After all, there was an alternative to murdering their parents, not so. One can never pardon direct intent to kill. Being incarcerated brings people to the realisation of their conduct, but the question is how will they choose to behave when not incarcerated? That is the problem.
"How will they choose to behave"?? You're acting as if they went on a murder spree when that's obviously not the case. Their crime was against their abusers, not innocent people ffs
They are right where they need to be. I'm tired of reading all these excuses. Our society cheering for the release of criminals after a heinous crime is sickening. Regardless of the alleged abuse, they took two lives. I've done my research and it is sickening to think they might be free one day. I don't believe they would commit another crime like that, but it's an injustice to the victim's that we are considering their release. We are setting poor standards for our children who will think it is okay to do these things instead of reaching out for help. We should be encouraging our children to get help if they are being abused, but this isn't a good message. Keep in mind these two were grown MEN when they committed these crimes.
Four days after the murders, the brothers began a spending spree. The brothers' shopping sprees were funded by Jose's personal life insurance policy of $650,000. In the aftermath of their parents' deaths, the Menéndez brothers indulged in a lavish lifestyle funded by their newfound wealth. Lyle acquired a Porsche, three Rolex watches (the day before their parents’ funeral, as witnesses later testified), and a restaurant, while Erik focused his expenditures on tennis lessons ($60,000 a year) and travel as well as racking up thousands in gambling losses and investing $40,000 in a rock concert at the Palladium in Los Angeles that never happened.
Their aunt helped them get the money. And she said that they deserved the money or the money belonged to them (not the exact words) because they are the children. They didn't rob the money from their parents. They got it in a legal way.
They’re from Beverly Hills. They shop Rolex and not Temu watches. Watch the testimony of their Aunt Marta Cano. As an executor of their dad’s last will, she testified that Lyle has an allowance of $6K per month while his parents were still alive. That’s why Lyle has a reputation as being generous to his friends by buying them expensive and treating them. Give me $5K per month to spend I would love that.

Just because you didn’t do it doesn’t mean everyone who is SA is the same. I know you are lying about being abused because anyone who was SA would completely understand.. lying about SA and making a mockery out if it is inexcusable.
@missydonald6381 you are stupid I was molested by my step grandfather at 4 and my brother at 12, I am a christian and do not beliebe that murder is the right answer. I am 64years old I have no reason to lie about a thing like that.

I still cant get past the fact that after they brutally murdered both there parents that they went on a months long spending spree. Makes me wonder if the father was going to cut them off from the money that he was giving them. They were adults lets not forget. They went crazy spending on new cars, rolex watches, expensive clothes and even bought property. That to me is insane after just killing your parents. This sex abuse only came to light from the defense attorney after they started planning a defense. Makes me wonder if it was all made up to get them off just like the Casey Anthony case.
Can we approach this topic with clarity and understanding? No one is claiming that abuse is a "license to kill." However, ignorance about abuse-particularly sexual abuse in men-remains widespread. The individuals in this video seem uninformed about the profound psychological impact abuse has on its victims. Before taking to a public platform, they should educate themselves on this subject. It appears there is a generational divide at play here. The speakers in the video seem to assume that opinions are being formed solely based on the Netflix series Monsters: The Menendez Brothers Story. This assumption is far from accurate. The younger generation, spurred by interest from the series, has taken to social media and platforms like RUclips to access hours of raw trial footage, interviews, and detailed documentaries about the case. This type of engagement and independent research is something the older generation may not be accustomed to, given their limited familiarity with social media and digital resources. To dismiss the psychological effects of abuse with phrases like "a license to kill" diminishes the reality of the trauma and its consequences. Society needs to recognize that sexual abuse does happen to men, and the psychological toll can lead to irrational actions under extreme duress. A lack of belief in male victims, coupled with the societal stigma they face, creates an environment where their voices go unheard. The Menendez brothers' fear of their parents was not unfounded. Their upbringing and the specific events leading to the murder suggest they acted out of a belief that their lives were in immediate danger. This forms the basis of what is known as "imperfect self-defense." It is not an attempt to justify the murders but to contextualize their actions as a response to the sustained psychological trauma they endured. This debate is not about sympathy or advocating for the Menendez brothers' release. It’s about recognizing the nuances of their case-particularly how abuse, trauma, and psychological breakdowns influence human behavior. Through detailed research, the younger generation has identified the flaws in the trial’s understanding of abuse and imperfect self-defense. They argue that this case aligns more closely with manslaughter than first-degree murder. No one is suggesting the Menendez brothers shouldn't have faced justice. However, many believe that after serving over 25 years in prison, they have fulfilled the requirements for justice in a manslaughter case and should have been eligible for parole. It’s time to move beyond outdated perspectives. The older generation must embrace the wealth of information available today and educate themselves on the psychological impact of abuse and the complexities of cases like this. Understanding is the first step toward addressing these deeply rooted issues meaningfully.
They don't need a resentencing and parole will ultimately be up to the Governor so why waste tax payer money to be rejected ultimately by the Governor - slap in the face to the world - the Brothers were willing to even try to kill the Psychc person also and admitted they could act like nobody's business on the stand...I work around Eric and was not a model inmate at all - write ups fights nothing good to say.

Free the Menendez brothers! They deserve a 2nd chance at freedom
Their parents deserved their day in court but they are not getting that ever! Those brothers were of age to walk away and never return but they choose to kill instead.
No freedom they don't deserve a second chance
Dont free them evil brothers
PLEASE SET THESE BROTHERS FREE !
keep them in
No, they deserve to stay where they are. And they will
Please freedom for these men! That have been in suffering since their childhood… clemency!
Other kids have been abused too and had a fkd up life yet they didn’t kill
Free them!

This really has nothing to do with the Netflix serie. As a polyglot and law student I saw Spanish interviews prior to the Netflix series about this case and one of the victims telling his story( a member of the Menudo boyband) that he was SA by the father of the Menéndez brothers more than once.
The Menendez young brothers were unfairly sentenced to Life without Parole 30+ years ago b'cause the Los Angeles DA's office lost the OJ Simpson case.
Let them have a life now they was abused sexerly why people didn't listen to them at the time .
Free the menendez brothers
No freedom

Ugh! I KNEW this was gonna happen! Just let them go already!!
They should be released. The system failed them completely!
We’re getting a little too comfortable justifying murder where all it requires is an accusation.
FREE THE BROTHERS!!!! Let the truth be known.

They should be free
No they should
I think that they will end their days in prison. After all, there was an alternative to murdering their parents, not so. One can never pardon direct intent to kill. Being incarcerated brings people to the realisation of their conduct, but the question is how will they choose to behave when not incarcerated? That is the problem.
How ignorant you are.
@@tomodachiotaku8004 I speak from a legal and qualified point of view, so the ignorance hereof definitely befalls you
"How will they choose to behave"?? You're acting as if they went on a murder spree when that's obviously not the case. Their crime was against their abusers, not innocent people ffs
@leanneM-33 ask them?
Keep crying over two dead rapists.
@@tomodachiotaku8004 r@pe vs murder. Wtf
Gambling losses? Are you sure? This is the first I've heard of that
Free them !! That’s all about politics now! So unfair!!!!
Speed up their release!! Let them enjoy Thanksgiving. It's what "The People" want! That should matter!
It's what the people want? Pretty sure it's not what the people want that will make a decision to let them out!
Free them. They murdered a child predator. So what?
Just read an article on Susan Smith. I am lost on how she's eligible for parole and these brothers are not.
At least she was denied. I just think it is agonizing for the father now to have to go to parole hearings every two years to keep her locked up now.
SS... DIDN'T GET PAROLED...
Yesssssssss
They should damn well stay in prison. Guy on the video said it best. “Being s3xualy abused… I’m sympathetic to victims of abuse, but it’s not a license to ki//“
Why are you so unpleasant?
This is crazy. Let them free.
Usa is the country which the worst system in the world! In burundi they could have a better trials for the Menendez
In Sweden they would have been free men years ago considering how young they were when they killed the parents.
Usa sucks
in addition to defaming their parents... kitty and jose can't find peace and this is really sad... how disgusting
There evil keep them lock up forever
Just like there are neo-Nazis, there are people like you who prefer to feel more empathy for two dead rapists than for their victims.
These brothers have been abused their whole lives and this new DA is continuing in the abuse! Let them go!
Let them go !!!
Free them!!!! Enough of this political nonsense!!!!!!
YEA FREE ALL THE MURDERS WITH BAD CHILDHOOD PASTS THEN!
They claim their father abused them. Ok, but why kill their mother in cold blood?
Because she knew about it and didn’t protect her children
@@Tammy_26Irwinwhatever this is a total lie and not an excuse for murdering your parents . They killed their parents for their money and then made up this lie as an excuse . They planned the WHOLE thing .

Imagine the growing appeals of people who wants them to be free. The mother was shot multiple times on the face. What a world we are living in.
Yes. The basis remains. Their sentences will be changed but not commuted nor removed nor pardoned.
Are we *seriously* considering releasing two people who took the lives of their *own parents* ? This country has gone nuts. Now I see how Trump won a second term! KEEP THEM!
Imperfect self defence is a reason... at the time of their trial sexual harassment was treated completely differently.. there was no battered person syndrome only battered woman syndrome..so approach changed a bit...
Of course he does ughhh set them free already

Who’s the sniveling little rainbow talking ?

It’s been 30+ years. 😢this is so tragic. I wish they’d be free very soon.
I wish their parents got their day in court but because of 2 grown brothers they killed them instead! There is ALWAYS 2 sides to a story but we can’t hear their side. They were old enough to leave home and that’s what they should of did and seemed Justice but that would of meant no inheritance
I understand where you’re coming from, But if they stayed they wouldn’t got abused and Erik would be getting abused and sexually. And if they left they would have no where to go or have nothing at all. But what they detailed and said was horrible. I think and believe they should be free
It was a cruel murder!!! They used a shotgun, 8 shots on the mother, 1 one her face close range. The father 5 shots, 1 on the back of father’s head close range… 😔😔😔
Great, now they'll be in hell.
And the continued rape of 2 children all the way to adulthood is not cruel?
@@BlessedNely87yes until adulthood but they had a choice to move out,
This is good news. The brothers should be treated just like Susan Smith if they agree with resentencing. Hopefully they make them serve their life sentences. NO PAROLE!

How many children are s3xually abused by one or both parents every year? And then juxtapose that with how many of them go on to MURDER THEIR (abuser) PARENTS.
They’ve served enough time ….free them!

This doesn’t make sense that anyone can lie about being sexually abused to get out of prison free. They need to stay where they belong, and the Internet and these celebrities shouldn’t have any influence whatsoever.🤔
Not saying they should get a mother trial but if there was abuse then they should have came forward not commit or take the law I. To their own hands

Hard to believe you were actually abused… because you wouldn’t make this ignorant statement. Anyone who actually experienced abuse would understand what would drive them to do it. Just because you didn’t do it doesn’t mean everyone who is SA is the same. I know you are lying about being abused because anyone who was SA would completely understand.. lying about SA and making a mockery out if it is inexcusable.

This brothers have made a difference, created change and deserve to be free! They weren't given a fair trial the 2nd time around. Time for release! And I felt like that prior to the Netflix series.

Was hoping they can get released very soon . Now unsure. Its sad
