My trip all around Cebu island here in The Philippines has brought me to a little town on the ocean called Moalboal. It's a touristic place, so you'll see many tourists there but its touristic for a reason: You can swim with sea turtles and sardines here in Moalboal. The Moalboal sardine run is very popular and famous. So, of course I wanted to see sardines here as well. But things didn't really go as planned...

BEST TOURIST SPOTS IN MOALBOAL, CEBU (Check it out in RUclips) Hello Ken I highly recommend to visit this places in Moalboal, Cebu especially Basdaku White Beach, Pescador Islands & Canyoneering at Kawasan Falls & try Zipline there.
1. Visit the Basdaku White Beach, is a long stretch of white sand beach in Moalboal, Cebu. It comes from the word "Basdaku" or "Basdakoo" meaning "big sand" in Cebu native dialect. It offers activities like boat rentals, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, kite surfing, surf fishing and more. It is situated in Saavedra, Moalboal, Cebu.
2. Witness & Canyonering in the Majestic Kawasan Falls, it is a three-stage waterfall within 20 kilometers(12 miles) in Moalboal, Cebu. It is located in Badian, Moalboal, Cebu.
3. Explore Pescador Islands, located in the Tañon Strait, Pescador Island is a few kilometers away from the island of Cebu and still part of Moalboal municipality. Boating is one way to visit nearby islands of Pescador.
4. Boating and snorkeling with Planet Action Adventure. Recreational diving is the main tourist activity in Moalboal. The long stretch of coral reefs on the west coast of Compton Peninsula is home to a number of marine animals. You must join the Moalboal Day Tour.
5. Go Diving with the Cebu Dive Centre. Moalboal is famous for it's Sardines Run, healthy coral ecosystem and a great chance to swim along with the whale sharks. Perfect diving sites in Moalboal include the following; Moalboal Marine Sanctuary, Compton Point, Tongo Point, and Talisay Wall. Cebu Dive Centre had it's address in Panagsama, Moalboal, Cebu. You must join the Moalboal Day Tour.
6. Enjoy the nightlife by beach in Moalboal, Cebu. Moalboal becomes the home to a number of establishments that offers exciting things to do in Moalboal at night. The seaside bars along the coastal haven offers an interesting area for guests to spend a lively night at Moalboal (One Eyed Jack Bars)

Thanks for showing your misadventures. It makes the vlog more authentic. Better ask a guide where the sardines exactly are. When you’re done with the Visayas islands you can also visit provinces in Luzon like Baguio, Ilocos or Bicol.

Ken, try swim with the sardines early in the morning. It will be a good idea to get a guide, because they know where the sardines swim from one point to another. It also helps the Moalboal community. If you're looking for a perfect place to have filipino food in Moalboal, go to Venz Kitchen, it's along the vibrant and busy Panagsama Road.

The many sardines are not that far from where you are. There are just few meters deep where those boats are anchored at. I remembered before I was just hanging on the edge of the boat as I looked down the deeper water where suddenly many sardines emerged surrounding me. It was surreal!

before saving any destination and going to it.. suggest you read the reviews as well.. as i found JoPit burger and the last review was 1 year ago.. not recent....but probably closed due to pandemic.. but always check reviews, it may help determine whether it still exist recently or not.

Ken, I'm glad and happy to see your videos in the Philippines. This video is great and beautiful. I don't live there for 3 decades now because my family needs me with them in other country but if I happen to go home and you're still in the Philippines then I want to invite you for dinner in Manila. If ever you finish cebu and Mindanao, also try to go to northern part of Luzon like Bagiuo & Abra or the rice terraces (colder part of the Philippines and try to visit Batanes and you can drive a motorcycle and enjoy the beautiful view of Pagudpud if you want to visit Ilocos Norte too.

While you're down south in Cebu, you can also do a waterfall tour, there's a lot of waterfalls there stretching from Kawasan all the way down to Boljoon and Oslob.. we visited at least 6 waterfalls in the south back then before COVID hit, and we did it just 1 day..

Smart choice on not going deeper / farther from the crowds!! The ocean can be extremely terrifying and people might not be able to hear you shouting if you're too far out. That turtle looked so beautiful!!
Would love to see all aspects of your trip! It makes it a lot more relatable, because the "failed" parts of your trip is something that I'm sure everyone experiences whilst travelling :)

Thank you for the great impressions from Moalboal. I love this place and will be traveling there again next February. I know the burger restaurant from a previous visit and can confirm that the burgers were great. There was another branch in Moalboal Town itself, on the grounds of "RalphSeeJ Pension House" on Dr JP Rizal St. But it probably didn't survive the last typhoon.
