If you pay with a credit card they will ONLY put refunds on THAT credit card.
As a previous customer service employee at Home Depot, I can tell you right now, policy only allows you to return cash or cash cards for a return if the original payment was either cash or debit, since debit is considered a cash form of payment in their retail system. Credit ALWAYS goes back to the original form of payment, unless the card has been replaced, canceled, or closed. Then it escalates to corporate.
Did anyone else notice that?... when she says "I'm so glad you asked" and then she laughs, the papers on the table dissapear for a second... someone's been having fun with bloopers!😆

I hate when they’re asked a simple, straight forward question and start rambling off around the question before they answer it. I totally resonate with JJ’s frustration with this.
This is true in ANY court, with ANY judge (or, with JJ, arbitrator), as well as in any deposition.
I love when JJ cuts them off with “I don’t care.” Don’t you wish you could do that at your job too?

She’s nicer than the judge I got. They didn’t care if I couldn’t hear and made me speak for myself after it was clear I couldn’t understand a word he was saying.

I got one of the meanest judges around. For some reason I got him on a good day and he cut me one hell of a deal. The fines sucked but it was better than a charge on my record.

Home Depot doesn’t do that. It always goes back on the original card.
UNLESS the item is returned without a receipt. This happened recently - AND the employee was going to do so for less than I paid for the item. Only after I complained AND said that I wanted the item back, that I would return subsequently with the receipt did that employee mention that, if I had with me the credit card that I had used, he could then credit it back for the amount that I paid. Since then, I have had a few other negative experiences at that store. I used to shop at The Home Depot very frequently, but no longer.

You can take items back to home improvement stores with or without a receipt. Depending on the charge, you can get cash with a receipt (not having to put it back on a card), but say you don't have a receipt and they will tell you they can only return your funds via store credit (gift card). Duh! SMH... and WHO would EVER have proof of that except the person it incriminates? Ridiculousness!

I'm always at home depot. Their policy is if you don't have a receipt and you want to return something, they give you store credit. Contractors have been known to return client merchandise without a receipt in order to pocket the store credit. The clients would have no record of it, they would have to just trust the contractor.
They also like to over-purchase and keep the leftovers for themselves or other jobs.
It can be a dirty game.

I haven’t watched the full episode but if you pause on the credit card statement you can see that they made an online payment and then the payment was reversed. It had nothing to do with a refund!

At my job if you don't have the original credit card we have to give you the refund in merchandise cards. I absolutely believe he got that money in those cards.

@@6atlantis He did not get store credit. It's all there on the statement. Two payments ($117 each) were reversed. Two payments remained for 117 and 96. She made a $213 payment on her bill, and she has a $0 balance. If the money was refunded to store credit, she would have owed $447, NOT $213. She paid $213 and has a $0 balance.
The handyman is wrong. He said the only way you can return things is on the card you purchased with. If you have the item and the receipt but not the original card of purchase, they will do a gift/cash card. I was doing many purchases and returns for various home renovations. Whether he was stealing or not, who knows but he's either lying or is unaware of the return policy.

Idk of any national chain that gives you gift cards or cash anymore when you return merchandise. Store credit is possible at some smaller places but that’s usually in a different form

Some stores do let you return stuff and either get a store credit or gift card instead of putting the refund back on the card. They hope that you will misplace the credit or giftcard.
Yep Lowe and Home Depot do cash cards pretty nice for me since I regularly buy from there so instead of waiting on my card I can get it now but they do take your license to keep track.

Why would you give someone your credit cards to use. They either pay for the items and turn around and bill you OR you get a list of what you need and order it yourself and get it delivered or have the handy man pick it up. I’m a painter. I don’t pay for the paint. Ever. They have to order it and I’ll pick it up if they need me to.

I love JJ … i’m here every day commenting… but sometimes, i wish she would give the defendant or plaintiff a little more time to speak. This is a rare occurrence, but it happens. Usually, she cuts right to the chase and gets it right.
Yeah i saw somewhere in an interview that she didn't really enjoy doing this show so i guess it explains why she doesn't let people that much and goes right to the point

It’s crazy- what’s not to like about doing that show? I think she said she worked 52 days a year… she flew out to Cali for the tapings on her own private plane with all her animals and stayed in her Cali mansion. She then went to set, had her hair & makeup done, and read over the cases that were nicely typed up for her. She was the boss. Not to say that she hadn’t earned that! She was/is business savvy and has great people working for her. She’s an accomplished person- and considering she was a female in a male dominated field- she’s even more accomplished. What’s not to love about that deal!? 🤣🤣
