- Like with everything else about printing, you'll learn to recognise the right amount of ink over time, by sight, sound and feel.
There was a comment in one of my Instagram videos once which I think decribes it well: you want the ink to look like little hills, not huge mountains. I think this is a good image of the texture you are looking for.
You should look for a feel that's not "tacky" and a nice soft sound, that's not loud and "sticky". The ink should roll smoothly and sound like a soft "woosh".
These will become familiar to you as you do it more, but I hope the video helps.

Thanks a lot for your attention and dedication to prepare such nice vídeos plein de good tips!
Thanks for all the great tips!
Thank you for watching! 🙂 what kind of ink are you using? I use ink from Cranfield Colours, it's oil-based (but still washable with water) and doesn't dry quickly. Are you maybe using water-based inks?
Thank You Any other sugg Suggestions for ink? As I am in Europe, I do not think I can get that brand here again many thanks for the great tips and wonderful RUclips videos
Do you usually use a hardware or soft one? Many thanks in advance for your reply, if you have time
Hi, I'm sorry for the late reply. I usually prefer soft brayers, because they don't leave streaks, but I use both kinds. the best brayers I've found so far are the durathene ones (the green ones, which you can see in another of my videos). They were pricey, but they are just incredible!
