    Thank you for this vid! Your efforts are appreciated, most likely by many more than just me or the thirty thumbs-up ya got so far. Some of the things I already knew, but it is a great refresher and a pleasant one that is so easy to watch and follow. Well done.

    _Some shortcuts used in this video:_
    S key - brings up *Shortcut Bar*
    Hold Right Mouse Button and swipe the Mouse - *Mouse Gestures* shortcuts
    Hold CTRL key when selecting multiple lines to quickly add relations between them
    Tab key while in 3D Sketch to change spatial plane you are sketching in

      can you also explain the "tab over" command at 2:14?

    • @hawkridgesystems
      @hawkridgesystems  Год назад

      @@mitchweigand9817 Absolutely, it's simply the tab key on your keyboard. Note the "XY" that appears next to the pencil icon in your sketch tool - when you hit tab, it will change to "ZX" or "YZ". When you're in 3D space, you can toggle between any of these principal sketch planes at will. Of course, you can also create geometry outside of those principal planes, but usually the initial sketch entity is placed on one of these and can be moved in any direction.

    Great video. Great information. So nice to be able to understand what is being said as opposed to the hundreds of videos existing where the english is so broken with heavy indian accent.

    Any idea of what the differences are for a 3D Sketch in SW 2020? I can't even do the first step of defining a rectangle on the zx plane, it will still rotate through all 3 planes. Is there a setting that I'm missing?

    good tutorial thanks . when I sketch the construction rectangle and smart dimension the drawing is still under defined . any ideas on what I'm doing wrong ?

      tony molloy
      it could be that your construction rectangle's center point isn't on the origin.
      refer to 0:47 onwards

    • @petertwiss356
      @petertwiss356 Год назад

      @@NicholasLeong14 It's not this, I get the same issue, making sure I centered it on the origin. Doesn't happen in 2D sketch, I checked. If I figured it out I will reply back here.

    At 2:44, how do you even move the line? I draw the exact same thing, but when I click on the point, it's not moving.

    So - basically 3d sketching is like making a skeleton model?

  • @mohammedumar6779
    @mohammedumar6779 4 года назад

    First of all thanks.
    What is the purpose of 3D sketch can we make part modelling by 3D sketch ?

    • @hawkridgesystems
      @hawkridgesystems  4 года назад +4

      They are used a lot for certain applications such as routing of wires/pipes/tubes where it would be inconvenient or impractical (would need many separate 2D sketches)
      Another application is design of welded structures, machine frames or tables, which are made up of many members which would normally require many separate 2D sketches.

    Just a suggestion, when making a 'basics' video, using a ton of unannounced shortcut keys is not a great idea.

    • @hawkridgesystems
      @hawkridgesystems  4 года назад +1

      I just quickly rewatched and tried to note down the shortcuts:
      1) S key - brings up Shortcut Bar (popup toolbar with commonly used commands)
      2) Hold Right Mouse Button and swipe the Mouse Up - Activates Smart Dimension command using Mouse Gestures (can also get from Shortcut Bar)
      3) Hold CTRL key when selecting multiple lines to quickly add relations between them
      4) Tab key while in 3D Sketch to change spatial plane you are sketching in

      I would say that since the purpose of this video is to show the basics of 3D sketches and not things like drawing lines, making relations, etc. that it is okay to not include it since those things are not related to 3D sketches alone.
