Well, 40 bucks for a game that later one they will add thousand of extra things to buy.... no. Give the game for free and add things to buy, and for sure. But no, at least no in the first year.
Im going to try it out actually. The gameplay looked polished and fun tbh. People claim they want playstation to do something different but what they really mean is "do something different but if its not made specifically for me it's trash" playstation fans are going to call it mid just like they called Helldivers 2 mid before it actually came out anything that isn't single player or an established multiplayer ip they will ridicule. Honestly im a playstation gamer but the fanbase can be very idiotic, hypocritical and shortsighted at times. Anyway i think the game will be good.

People today have become so obnoxiously pessimistic by default that its nauseating. Its not just a trend in gaming but i see it in the dating world, the world of politics, cinema, ect. Maybe its just people who are chronically online who are like this but i personally prefer to be somewhat optimistic by default if it has to be black and white. The game looked polished enough to were i was interested in playing the beta and seeing what it will actually be and maybe it wont be for me but at least PlayStation is actually trying something different for them.

Why do people want these games to fail before even trying it?
Because people love to hate now adays, plus it has woke stuff and historically woke stuff has been inserted into existing IPS making most the gaming community hate it, but a game starting with it should be fine, I dont care if a hero is made with that kinda identity in mind, it's when a character is retconned to be woke that makes me hate the content and many others but at this point the gaming community is just conditioned to hate anything with pronouns.
Which makes this the first time I gotta agree with the wokies that its just homophobic to hate on this game for that, especially considering most those people upset, myself included always told them to make their own game and now they are but people are hating on the game simply for that fact which is sad. But I personally am super excited for this game.

Forever weve told them to stop retconning our fav characters and shoving it down our throats by infiltrating our already established ips and than a game comes out and does exactly that and now everyone is just saying it's some political thing when games representing minorities has always been a thing, look at borderlands and overwatch and there were so many when being gay was starting to not be seen as an insult or weird.
I agree alot of it is just executives making money off the backs of minorities but gaming is also our culture's biggest art form atm so it would actually legitimately be homophobic to not see a game be created with the vision to express the voices of people in our culture properly.
And I'm someone who's always speaking out against how stupid retconning characters to be black or gay is but this game isnt that, they're original characters with lots of love being put in with cinematics and world building. And this guy didnt even know about the LGBTQ stuff because they arent shoving it down your throat, they're implementing it inna casual way which is how you do it, just casually put it in for the people who enjoy it.
I just wish it was Destiny-like PvP and character customization, without the grind.
Imagine if we could create our own "Free Gunner"(or whatever theyre calling the characters, heroes in OW, Champions in paladins, etc).
Imagine we could select our weapon/ability loadout, customize the way our characters look, sound etc. If we want a tanky character, the model/hitbox would increase with more HP.
Would SO much cooler than a genetic TF2 style arena shooter with overwatch heroes + Destiny style weapons.

It’s great to see a positive take on the game for a change. I personally don’t jump into MP games that much, but for what they showed it looked very polished, I’m just not sure it will be very well received in a market where the established competitors are already strong and FREE. Plus them going the Social Politics way is surely rubbing a lot of people the wrong way, you know how all these people lose their minds over silly shit and I think this game will be divisive amongst its already reduced target audience

Nearly got to be honest, but looking better, now it make me pre order it.
It isn't this bad like most are talking, for real.
All I know is I hope the PC version can be modded with the UEVR injector I can use with my PSVR2 on PC. I suspect this is more for EVO.
Concord is nothing like Overwatch (which is designed like a moba with a crazy amount of healing) and appears to be much closer to an asymmetric Destiny Valorant style of game. I pre-ordered after seeing the 6 modes at launch, which are old school arena shooter modes.
But from what we seen ,the Freerunners shown are all on the same crew? So are there other Crews?
There appears to be multiple crews, it shows two fighting so we have it confirmed theres at least 2 but the way they're setting it up makes me think it's like a pirate style thing where multiple groups of people set out in search of glory.
would you buy this over all those free game tho i doubt a casual will leave the games they know for this and if they do leave they prob going to something free or looks like something they already know like marvel rivals. i dont think the game will suck i just think it will fail overall
Marvel rivals and concord are very different games.

Marvel rivals is a hero shooter too and is free they are closer to each then you'd think imo then you have fragpunk with looks alot better then concord coming out and so on and on. Familiar doesnt mean it cant be phenomenal. The gameplay in games like destiny and call of duty are top notch and unmatched, to me this looks comparable gun play wise

The problem is not the type of game but the practice that the company has within the game. If they are going to monetize a lot then it will be a disaster, as people today are no longer accepting such practices as they were before and if there are no constant updates it will also be a failure.
they've already announced new characters are free, new modes are free, new maps are free, plus free cinematics every week. Helldivers 2 had fair monetization so I'd be surprised if they release $100 skins and gacha mechanics like Riot and others do

It’s not for me. When I was 26 I transitioned from a multiplayer gamer into a strictly single player gamer. I like having objectives to do with a story as to why I’m doing it. I’m 33 now, part of maturing has lead me to realizing that I only have so much time on earth and that I would rather not waste it playing multiplayer games.
I could see this game as you said, taking off with the casuals and younger crowd, but it’s just not for me.
This video is more so aimed towards those who wrote this off and do play these types of games. If you don’t play multiplayer FPS games it makes sense for it to not resonate with you.

The issue with the game isnt the game in itself but how sony for years setup up it user base to be quite shallow in variety, if this game was a nintendo game it would be heavily appreciated because nintendo has been giving variety, sony has been focusing on only single player games

The problem is that the game looks generic. I don't care where they got their inspiration from as long as it looks unique. Also, im not spending a dime on a game with pronounce.
I won’t be playing because I don’t get into these kinds of games. But if it reviews well and garners good attention I could see this doing well. Just not for me… that being said if it has a trial on PS+ I’d be willing to at least give it a chance.

I think the game looks great but I’m not a big PVP fan.
People are saying it looks bland and the dialogue is bad. I don’t know if I agree with either of these points. The high end graphics set it apart and the characterization seems well done. I’m not annoyed by any of the characters like I am with Guardians, but we do need more context for the story.

I didn't write off Concord because I thought it was derivative. I wrote it off because I'm not into those kinds of games. Same reason I don't play Helldivers 2.

@zipper978 because sometimes, something comes along that changes my mind. I'm not into first-person games either, yet I was convinced to play both Bioshock and Cyberpunk. I also gave Destiny a shot. However, nothing about Concord suggests it's any different or more interesting than any of the other games in this genre.
Why this game will fail is because there are already a few games out already like it, and they are free to play... this game has to be DRASTICALLY different and much better than all that is already out, which I doubt this is.

It’s only $40 like Helldivers 2 was and the beta is coming. It already looks very fun and will release day and date with PC. I just think they needed to showcase the more interesting characters from the roster.
But I still think Sony needs to revive SOCOM, Killzone, and Resistance. Sony has way too many franchises of their own to be wasting their time on 3rd party exclusives, and I know they Firewalk is their own studio, but I meant Sony should stop with the third party deals in general and focus on their own IP, which are better.
I don't understand the hate either. It doesn't look like a masterpiece to be honest with you, but the immense downvoting the trailers got feel unjustified as hell. You don't mass-downvote a game that looks like something that's probably in the 5-7 / 10 range.
People should at least give the game a chance before spitting on it as much as they are.

With all due respect, this game isn’t free right? Casuals probably won’t buy a hero shooter when almost every other hero shooter is free in the market. Maybe the PlayStation player base will be enough to carry it since I think PlayStation members will get it with the membership(?) but I’m pretty positive those steam charts will not paint a pretty picture, since PC players will have no reason to drop money on a experience they can get for free, IMO of course.
Casuals drop $79 on COD every single year alongside sports games that are marginally different. Casuals will buy anything that looks interesting to them. They also buy cosmetic skins and ultimate team packs. $39 on a hero arena shooter isn’t unrealistic.
overwatch has also been on the decline for along time and ive always said the only thing a game needs to beat overwatch in its terrible state is fixed kits allowing for wacky heros unlike valorant where the kits are watered down in favour of the guns (since you cant create a genji or echo when everyone, even the tanks and supports can use the same shotgun, it limits the abilities you can make) and good gameplay (unlike paladins and its spaghetti code) and concord has both, and if they can balance the game unlike overwatch and its 8 years of failing to balance due to their obsession with hero identities forcing sombra to always have invis with auto aim that steals your ability to use the abilities the games based on than its gg for overwatch 😂
If they manage to balance the game unlike overwatch and have d2 like gameplay and wacky fun heros, it could easily topple overwatch and if it does that than itll easily cemment a spot in the pool of fps games.
The finals was close, it actually delivered a massive blow to both cod and overwatch because it had super expressive abilities and kits but because the kits arent fixed or watered down, the balance is absolutely abysmal so it immediately fell off.

I’m legitimately who they made the game for. Destiny pvp was one of the few things that got me away from league and I’ve been playing league at lot less and looking to get into something new so Destiny PVP but with champions and the champions don’t just come outta nowhere because there is established lore from the get go? Also no 45 min matches? I mean if it feels like destiny but is actually balanced because it’s a hero shooter I think people are really sleeping on the potential
i'm in the same boat, loved Destiny pvp and am hyped for concord because it screams Destiny Valorant. I'm shocked at how many gamers think it looks like overwatch just because there are heroes. Rainbow Six Siege has heroes too, doesn't mean its anything like overwatch.
This game looks like every other rushed AAA first person shooter that gets its studio closed in less than a year. People who buy these games are the exact reason the gaming industry is so bad currently
Placed against Marvel Rivals, I don't see Concord gaining much traction. Any casual would take one look at this game and say, "Why would I play this when there's Overwatch or Destiny". It's literally the same game, different disk.
I can already forsee it. Two weeks into the game, the lobbies are going to be sweat fest with meta characters, and people cussing you out for not running the one with the sniper
Marvel Rivals, on the other hand, has intrigued players like myself, who prefer a Third-Person Perspective as to the overdone First-Person (those who wants to get into games like Smite, but can't bothering learning all the nuances)
A lot of preconceived notions here. I think without giving this game the opportunity to get into players hands or at the very least the previews to come out we can’t make any major assumptions. We have a small gameplay trailer to go off and that’s literally it.
@NIXNE When your announcement trailer is so unoriginal and uncreative that people noted more similarities to other IPs than differences, that's a problem. A gameplay trailer is meant to show people what's new about the game, not how the gameplay remains similar or the exact same
As the case with Starfield. People are getting sick of seeing and playing the same game with different disks. That's also why Baldur's Gate 3 gained so much attraction and success. It's original and creative

People are really out loud just getting into this wave of hate without trying to judge by themselves, overwatch is in a shit state, destiny pvp is abandoned, paladins no one even talks about it anymore and concord do have space between those, specially that it will come with a significant amount of content at launch.

Hope it does have similar success like Helldivers 2 did, the news about the game are pretty positive, and 40 bucks for 16 characters, 12 maps and 6 maps doesn't sound a bad deal.

Do you know for a fact it’s an overwatch clone? It’s not uncommon for an fps to have many characters with unique abilities. Hero shooters are a sub genre in a lot of ways.

Personally just not interested. The main problem is it needs to be really good to get people alway from say over watch or other hero team shooters if it feels just like a clone you’re not gonna draw newcomers when you can just play over watch for free even if the monetization sucks in that game. What made helldivers II great was it had personality and a fun gameplay where concord is basically if overwatch and guardians of the galaxy had a love child that is overshadowed completely like an Asian child being compared to his success cousins

Nobody is complaining about not having more multiplayer games, people are complaining that Sony IS investing heavily in live service games & not in single player games.

Yes, a lot of it is artificially manufactured outrage. Culture warrior crowd says its the worst thing ever because of a couple black characters. PC crowd is angry at PS for recently doubling down on not releasing single player games day and date. Xbox crowd with 20+ sock accounts spreading FUD as usual. And misinformed gamers who for some reason think its an overwatch clone when its nothing like that style of game with tons of healing and pushing carts.

I think people were shitting on it because the hero-shooter genre has gotten so saturated in recent years and the cg story trailer was cringy.
The character inspiration comes from crappy super hero characters that already sucked.
The pronouns being in the game are what kills any chance of this being successful, even if it's a good game otherwise.
I don't think this has anything to do with quality. This could turn out to be the best 5v5 hero shooter around, but the problem is that it's like the 12th 5v5 hero should to come along. (an exaggeration, but you get my point).
I just don't understand the reasoning behind making a game like this when the market is flooded with them. How about you come up with a unique idea? Helldivers is a success because there's no other game like it. I see hero shooter and it's an instant no for me. There's just nothing compelling here whatsoever.
I think Sony are taking HUGE risks, spending probably hundreds of millions of dollars to see games launch and fail. I hope they're not just going to close studios one after the other when 1 or 2 out of 8 live services attempts succeed.

I'm writing this game off right away because its online PVP. Right away this is something I'm not interested in. I don't care about anything after that with this game. It's just not something I care about. I tried so hard to like Helldivers because that game looked cool but I hated it. I'm just not into any of those online matches types of games. Give me my single player games Sony...which they are not right now.

It looks literally nothing like OW, not in gameplay, nor style. People are just dumb beyond comparison now a days.
All games are somewhat inspired by games that has already been made, that doesn't make all shooters a OW, Val, CoD or CS clone, it doens't make all mobas a LoL, Dota or SMITE clone.
People now a days are really bad at gaming, like the general skill level is extremely low, which is why people are bad, toxic and why games are made so noob-friendly, which people get tired of in the long run.
Concord looks really good and really fresh, the gameplay looks SUPER solid.. it doesn't look like a spam-fest like OW, Marvel Rivals etc. It looks to have some really great gunplay and movement mechanics, compared to any other crappy modern game. Val is low skilled and crap, CS is CS... but not CS 1.6, OW is one of the worst games ever made and I did use to play and love it since the beta and many seasons forward... but it's just a spam-fest that has nothing to offer.
And so forth.
I think this will be huge, if people don't cry about being bad and the game plays as it looks.
I never pre-order multiplayer games, but this one... I did.
