IMPORTANT: I do not say you need a second hard drive to mod Skyrim. A second drive is a way around having to reinstall Steam if it’s inside Program Files already via a second Steam library. 1. To mod Skyrim successfully, you need to install Skyrim outside of Program Files 2. You can create a second library to avoid reinstalling Steam *but* you can only have 1 Steam Library per drive So, if you have a second drive, you can install a second Steam library on it to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling Steam to essentially move it outside of Program Files Footnote: in the best interests of transparency, I am aware that moving Steam manually has been successful for some people. However, I simply do not have the data to suggest this is a 100% foolproof method therefore I am unwilling to recommend it.
ADHDecnt, I just stopped following your Modding Skyrim in 2024 guide, on part 7 to take the time to like each part and to say to you, your guide is hands down the best I have ever seen on RUclips. Amazing job on putting the tutorials together! Thank you so much for the time and effort! You have more than earned a subscriber, I will also be sending some coins your way. I wish I could shake your hand and buy you a cold one or two.
After spending 24 LITERAL hours trying to one click mod my game and failing this is so refreshing! Thank you - I will follow all guides, well earned SUB +
THough I am no beginner, I still struggle to get (and keep!) everything surrounding modding Skyrim clean and organized. This series of video's seems to be exactly what I need (I have watched until and including part 4. I will follow it diligently and get back in the last video. So far: subbed and I love it. Thanks man, for you calm explanations and through guide!
Had to come back and say thank you. This is by far the best modding tutorial on youtube. You put in the time and effort to make it foolproof, we appreciate you man.
A lot has changed since Zero2Hero. This new series for 2024 will walk you through these changes, and include many new tips and tricks to improve your modding experience. Perfect time for a brew!
@rubotok3703 The market stuff? Are you on consoles or something? Bethesda's creation market has nothing to do with the mods he is talking about. If your on console you only get the mods Bethesda allows you to have. Through their "creations"... which is Bethesda's market place. The Mods he is talking about installing are more advanced mods then Bethesda allows in their "creations". These more advanced mods require SKSE and other patches and fixes, and are only available for PC users. If your on Xbox or Playstation you only have 1 game store to buy your game in the first place, but PC users have miltiple game stores. Imagine if you had 1 machine that had both the Xbox store and Playstation store on the same device and you could switch between the two. The game stores on PC Steam, GOG, and Epic games. Like to install themselves and the games into "program files" or "Program files (x86)". Inorder to properly mod the game the game CAN NOT be installed in these directories and its also preferred if Steam is not installed here either. We say Steam because it's the store we and most Skyrim PC players use... but the same advice goes for GOG and Epic.
i am grateful very very grateful, the other vids are great but leave me in the wind and confused sometimes without being narrow and pointing out the key small details. Thanks
Thank you so much for your kind words. Means a lot. It’s easy to miss parts and confusing to know what order to do things in so my aim was to try and fix that :-)
@@ADHDecent question i always fall victim to an error with mod organizer 2 i follow the steps and get hit with " C:/user/playtech/AppData/Local/ModOrganizer/Skyrim Special Edition not found. you must create a new instance" anything helps im both new to modding and pc
Im actually glad that i checked the comments before i got too far, I almost deleted my fresh install because i thought the video said that i needed another hard drive, well done in reiterating that. Im learning loads. Thanks!
Coming back to rewatch your steps again, suddenly hit by the craving for Skyrim. My old modlist was a bit buggy and didn't look that appealing, so here I am to learn from the best :D
Thanks for this Ill be following this series for now, I just bought the entirety of Skyrim before sales end, Ive tried modding it way before when NMM was the only thing available at the time with a cracked version. I tried getting into modding straight away (since played everything already) using MO2 and collections ive found on nexus mods, boy this is already my 3rd reinstallation of everything HAHAH after this series might you suggest mod/packs for (hotfixes/patches + overhauls + vanilla plus) thank you for your efforts good sir!
I really appreciate your kind words thank you. Means a lot to me! This series will certainly help you with the entire process once and for all! Towards the end of the series we’ll be looking at mods like you’ve mentioned :-)
To anyone thinking about modding Skyrim for the first time (like myself) believe me it was frustrating and there will be a few hiccups along the way, but it is 100% worth it. I spent a couple days scouring the discord servers, Reddit, RUclips etc. this is by far the best guide. I’m not computer savvy at all but once you kinda get the hang of things it almost just falls into place and before long you too will be downloading mods left and right! Just be sure to pay attention to mod requirements and version compatibility where applicable. Skyrim was, is, and will continue to be one of the best games of all time imo, and with the advancement of mods these days it’s almost nothing like the original vanilla Skyrim myself and many others started on. Good luck modders! Get in there and git er done!!!
Thank you for your incredibly kind words I'm very grateful. And an extremely great point you've made there about compatibility requirements! Glad you're enjoying it!
My Steam unfortunately doesn't let me choose NOT to install in the program files - I am not sure what limitation is behind that. I went through every possible path but no luck. Equally, although I changed paths before, Steam always reverts back to what it wants (usually my OneDrive, which quite frankly, is super annoying). Maybe it's a Windows thing as well, I am on Win 10 (11 will never touch my PC! I made the mistake with my laptop. One mistake I came to regret a millions times over ...)
I havent been able to get my mods working no matter what I do so I'm now following along with this guide hoping things turn out better this time with everything that could possibly interfere deleted. Or at the very least make it as easy as possible to figure out whats wrong and solve it so I can finally play my damn game the way I want it to be.
@ADHDecent greetings from someone who started modding skyrim and failed miserably from skse not even starting 😅.can't I just move skyrim outside programme files 86x and not have to reinstall steam and all games there ? Thanks for this amazing video
Haven't played in years. You are my first step on a long (load-order) journey back down the rabbit hole for 2024. Thank you for your concise, dedicated work. -Must thank GamerPoets for for turning me on to your channel a while back. Pruzah sul!
I really appreciate your kind words. I’m truly grateful to you thank you :-) it really motivates me to continue. It was very kind of GP to mention me towards the beginning of this journey. It was quite the honour too having appreciated Michael’s work for a long time. I look forward to sharing more with you! :-)
New to modding on PC and MO2 and man thank you for this at the point where I have my mods and working my hardest to make sure my LO is solid as can be 😭
@@ADHDecent No problem, also on your video when you created a new location folder for steam/skyrim did you just do a new folder or was their a specific location before setting the new folder?
Love the guide! Thanks for all your efforts @adhdecent. I have a 1 TB nvme 2.0 drive, and operating system and games are on the same drive. I was able to delete steam and all related apps, then re install and use a new location instead of the program 86. I tried modding with vortex and MO2, I'm a newbie here to modding VR and skyrim. It has been hard to figure out the ordering of apps to resolve conflicts. Anyways, I love the content and look forward to your next video! Be well.
Also wanted to add that in case it doesn’t go through the pop-up to detect video or detect you bought Anniversary Edition when you have, exit the game, right click in the library Skyrim Special Edition, go to properties, installed files, press verify integrity of files. Once all that is done close out of the properties window, launch the game, it should come up with the pop-up for detecting video quality and follow the video from there. At least that’s what happened for me. I may simply have had to exit and reenter the game and not even verify integrity of files.
This suggests your first attempt of a clean installation wasn’t in fact clean and some form of data was found from previous installations. Verifying essentially wipes any data that doesn’t directly match data in the actual game files. The fact it worked after verifying the game files means it found something somewhere. Don’t worry, it’s easily done which is why I’ve gone into depth in the video about it as many will believe simply “uninstalling” and “reinstalling” is enough.
@@ADHDecent For me, I think it pulled the install from my laptop to save bandwidth since I have a unmodded install with a vanilla character I am doing a play through on there.
@@ADHDecent Hmm, I wonder what caused that. Maybe it was because I deleted all of the files before clicking uninstall as has been my habit. Sometimes I run into this and sometimes I don't and I believe I do all of the exact same things as you except that. I'll have to check.
Well I uninstalled first and then went through the files to delete things. And I guess double checked that the documents folder for Skyrim got deleted along with making sure I didn't have the folder shortcut in my moding folder. Those three things are the only things I can think of outside of the main Skyrim folder and app data that may have caused what I ran into. If there is one thing I have certainly come across while reinstalling both Skyrim and my overall libraries outside of the program files, uninstalling is not the same as deleting and certainly doesn't necessarily include it. I guess I can also add I made sure my recycle bin was empty.
Is it possible to outsource the modding process? Me and modding this game just dont get along and im literally willing to pay someone at this point to get it working for me :(
You’re not alone! The update has caused many issues for modders. This series will cover all the changes and form the new foundation for anyone looking to start afresh
ok so let me clear it out u also have to reinstal STEAM ? coz my steam is not on c driver but other 1 , but it is in program files! so i have 2 delete all games on steam and delete steam and reinstal all of it again in NO program files folder?!
Skyrim was updated recently for its creations, screwing up alot of mods. It would be great if the next video could be how to also step by step install popular mods like big graphics mods, animation adding, etcetera. I really just play mostly vanilla skyrim with bow intimating this all is
Wednesday’s episode will look into SKSE and testing for 1.6.1130, but the installing of mods will be covered further into the series once we have our base setup properly :-)
Hey there, I recently started wanting to try modding, it's awesome that you're going to be walking through the whole process! Just curious, because I had issues with it earlier, will you be walking through how to install some other common modding addons like ENB and DynDOLOD? I've had to restart twice because for some reason I wasn't able to get my different mods to work, even whilst following someone else's mod list. Also, do you know if there are any discord communities committed to helping people with setting up Skyrim modding? Can't wait to see part 2+! Thanks for your content
Everything worked up until 4:14 - 4:32 when I clicked add a drive nothing showed up but my local drive. How come you didn’t explain how to make a second drive because it wasn’t shown in this video.
2nd drive requires... a 2nd drive. a hardware drive. you can make one by going to the store and spending money on a new drive to put into your pc. that's really what a drive is, a seperate storage location. it's not like a file you can just "make." if you read his pinned comment you can see that he specifies that you don't need a 2nd drive to mod skyrim specifically, just to move steam to a better location.
If you don't have another hard drive/ssd then I guess you can partition your existing C drive. Go into disk management, right-click C drive, shrink volume (make sure to choose enough space while also leaving plenty of space in the C drive since having that full will slow down your PC) then format the unnalocated partition and you should have a new 'separate drive'.
Thank you for your work mate, I'm switching from console to pc so I'm a noob😂😂 I didn't understand, i need to instal Windows in programs or in the same ssd of steam?
@ADHDecent thank you so much for the time and skill you’ve put into these videos. I just threw up my hands in frustration with my Xbox Skyrim mere weeks ago and bought my new gaming desktop specifically for modding Skyrim. I am delighted with my good fortune to find your videos here. I’ve already watched the first 8 videos and I’m now starting my process and now I’ve run into my first snag during video #1: When I attempt to follow the directions to create the SSE shortcut, I go into my gaming file, then steam, steamapps, and common, the only file that is in common is Steamworks Shared; nothing else. However, when I go into my D-drive and open my SteamLibrary there and follow your directions there, then I find it. Is that where I’m supposed to create the shortcut, when cut/paste it back into my Skyrim Gaming Hub file in my C drive?
Thank you so much for this video! I’m really looking forward to the series. I’ve been trying to do modding myself without much success. I do have a question about the end of the video. When you make the game directory, is that where we are going to link Vortex to instead of the actual game folder? I hope that made sense.
You’re very welcome! Hopefully this series will aim to cover as many elements as possible. Im excited to share the next one in a few days! If you mean our modding hub, it’s a folder designed to contain all of our modding for Skyrim. But the game directory is still where you’ll link your mod manager
This is a well presented series. One of the better quality productions on YT. However, the order structure is really screwy which is a major problem. And can be confusing. Most users are only trying to figure out mandatory essential mods. What they are and how to get them working. Just to be clear, no matter what, Skyrim requires mandatory essential mods. This is because the default retail has not been properly patch serviced by devs. No qol is not essential. However there are mods that are legitimately essential (mandatory). So what if a user just wants the bare necessities along with some bare minimum mods for graphics improvement? Nothing at all that affects the actual gameplay/game design. As in nothing more than simply fixing inherent problems and some graphics improvement. Thus, no qol, book covers, or anything else unnecessary (non-essential). Yes learning how to setup sections in MO250 is fundamental no matter what. But do we need to preemptively create all these sections in MO250 that we are never going to use? Hell no. Do we need Nemesis/XPMSSE and other mod specific prerequisites? Not unless we are installing a mod that requires it. So there's completely no reason at all to much of the initial setup in this video. When much of it is really not relevant to the intent of most users. Which is just using mods for no other reason than they are pretty much a system requirement, and to install only the mods absolutely required. Which would be the order to start with. Then followed up by explanations pertaining to further non-essential modding as you go. Just a suggestion if I'm not mistaken here. I noticed the Creation Club files were zipped up, dropped into downloads, and installed. However, afaik, this is not the optimal method of migrating those files. You only need to create a folder for them within the 'mods' folder of your MO250 Skyrim instance folder. Then, transfer all those files from their default location into that folder. That said. Well done series overall. Just that the ordering is way too convoluted for basic users interested in basic understanding of installing basic essential mods.
Appreciate the kind words thank you. The intention behind the guide is to teach people how to mod without assuming any previous experience or understanding.. That is, to actually cover the modding processes. Mod lists are a dime a dozen, but it's not where people have difficulty. It's knowing how it works, why it works and why it's needed. An 'essential' list doesn't really exist as such, apologies for being pedantic here: you mention mods that are absolutely required: the thing is, none are. The game works. Yes it may not be perfect, it has bugs and issues and isn't as smooth as it needs to be but the bottom line is all mods are optional as all mods improve the game to a degree (some more important than others, but none are a must). It's all relevant to the user. Of course, there are important ones and then pretty ones so to speak, but where one crosses into another will vary depending on who you ask. With the exception of my slight drift off course around EP8 or 9 which I later corrected, each video has been designed to work as part of the series as well as a standalone so there are simple guides covering each element for those needing to return to one area specifically in future, along with a series should you wish to go through them. When I began, I could find guides on things but I never knew if there was an order to follow or what I could choose/skip etc. Naturally, it boils down to finding a middle ground I think. It's tricky to do and I don't think it's possible to get right for the same reasons as above. But if I am able to help others begin their modding journeys I'm happy :-) Hope this has helped explain the reasoning behind all the decisions. And again, I am grateful to you for your support as it means everything to hear the production quality is of value.
@@ADHDecent This is false about mods not being required just because a game is in functional enough condition to be released to the public. The most distinguishable example is Morrowind. Which never gained much popularity due to inaccessibility. Which is due to lack of developer maintenance/patches, and *requiring* community mods to fix. If you purchase Morrowind retail, it will function. But it will be full of major problems. Not just thousands upon thousands of technical glitches that were never addressed. Huge content issues and inconsistencies. Much of which would likely have at least fixed/improved drastically if maintained by devs. But actually fixed to excellent condition by unofficial and semi-official (developer) mods. You only need a handful of mods with a sort of emulator platform to get Morrowind to function in a condition so exceptional that it blows away other games in terms of functionality. As in a handful of mods (only for fixes) turning a disfunctional ugly duckling into a beautiful swan. It is completely unreasonable to try to claim that Skyrim SE retail functions to a standard of excellence without absolutely requiring some mods to fix. And claiming as if no mods exist. When evidence from my own experience proves otherwise. Along with others who have been running Skyrim flawlessly. Both games indeed have active communities who have exceeded devs at getting Elder Scrolls games functioning at top notch quality. All without any affect to the vanilla game itself beyond fixing problems. If there even exists any disagreement on which mods are better or worse to use for the purpose of fixing Skyrim for vanilla users, that's all and great. Yet nothing significant in consideration of common agreements about these. It is true enough, that despite being much larger/elaborate software, dev maintenance has made Skyrim a much more functional product that Morrowind. Yet it does not mean there are not mods that address inherent problems in the retail release. Fact = Skyrim retail is far from perfect condition, and continues to be full of major glitches devs have never addressed. Fact = Developers fixing all the glitches thoroughly and completely is absolutely necessary for anybody who owns the game. Fact = The above is not happening. However, there are mods that are just as, if not more effective than official developer improvement/testing. Which would be illogical to claim as any less absolutely necessary. Regardless of anything that is not essential to the game. Users simply need to have a decent explanation on their options for what is essential/mandatory/absolutely necessary to fix problems with the game, and basic info on how to implement it. So that they can be happy playing an exceptionally well functioning Skyrim. The entire point = not being convoluted by anything that isn't relevant to that. Any information on further non-essential mod options can follow. I hope I have made myself crystal clear here that Skyrim is not perfect. Devs are not doing what is necessary to fix problems. Developer incompetence does not make such fixes any less absolutely necessary for end users who deserve to play a product in the best possible excellent functional condition. Mods indeed exist for what is absolutely necessary to end users who paid for this product. Claiming a quality product is not required for users = false.
There's alot to unpack here but one bit that stood out to me was when referencing how fixes released by Modders have improved the game in a way the actual developers haven't which is absolutely spot on. On top of that, saying it would be illogical to claim as any less necessary is also a really good point. Should these fixes have come from the devs, we'd consider them necessary so the same should be said for such mods. I think it's a great way of saying it and has got me thinking. I think it may be from a perspective of making the guides that leads me to see a different interpretation of 'essential' is all. I remember a point where the game wouldn't launch at all and at that moment I would then consider a mod to fix that as essential as there would be no physical way of playing without it. Mods that require SKSE would mark SKSE as essential but only in terms of those mods. I'd like to just mention that I absolutely believe the base game itself has some serious flaws and issues with it. I'm merely stating its the difficulty in defining essential as the game (however problematic) launches and functions even if incredibly poorly. The way in which it does so is a reflection of the quality of product. I do see where you're coming from though as I believe dialogue on screen is essential for those hard of hearing and options for those with vision impairments as these are essential for many and I've seen them be overlooked in titles over the years. I will say without the modding community and some incredibly dedicated people out there determined on providing the best experience for gamers, it wouldn't have continued to thrive as well 12 years later.
@@ADHDecent There really isn't much to unpack or difficult here. Or any need to try to overcomplicate anything for no reason. I explained about common consensus with pretty much negligible disagreements when it comes to patch/optimization mods. As well as fixing as much as possible. It's not rocket science and extremely simple. Beginners just want to fire up the game, play, and have fun. The game clearly has problems. Known (and possibly unknown). Either way, there are mods that are commonly understood to be effective at resolving known issues. As well as modders who are fervent about continued support. This is the only time mods become a consideration for most users. Essential mods = whatever minimum amount of mods offer important fixes to the game. You don't need to sit there caviling every single mod that fixes every single glitch. Hell, if you have no access to mods, playing the game pure vanilla isn't the end of the world. But the point is beginners with only interest to play a fully functional game. Bare essential mods that do nothing more than fix inherent problems with the game = playing a game that functions like a dream. And currently for Skyrim, it really only requires a few mods to do. That's it. Anything else is non-essential. Essential (mandatory/required) = bare minimum mods that fix problems and get the game running in excellent condition (and yes any possible requirements they may have like SKSE). That's it. No difficulties in understanding this for anybody who just wants to play the vanilla game as is, without any problems. Therefore, need nothing beyond bare essential mods to do so.
Hello, I still see that you respond here (which is amazing work!!!) and so I thought I could ask a few questions. I'm about to buy Skyrim SE for the very first time. Unfortunately my steam is installed in ProgramFiles, and so I guess I'm supposed to install the game on another drive. My C: drive is the one in which my windows is installed aswell as steam. I do however have a 2nd drive on which I already have a few older and smaller steam games installed. Would it work for me to just install Skyrim SE on that 2nd drive? If so, does it matter where on that drive I install the game?
So my steam is in C: > Programfiles x86. I just downloaded SE and AE upgrade from steam yesterday but havent played yet. Havnt played or modded Skyrim in like 10 years so I feel like total noob. Anyway do I need to uninstall all my steam library and move it to another folder in order to get the most out of using mods for Skyrim? I have a lot of games on a pc I share with my wife. She has her own Windows account with her own steam account and games too. Will this fuck her shit up? Any advice is appreciated. And Thank You for the video, subbed.
This is something I'm currently looking into to see if my PC would handle it. My PC is rather outdated for something as intense as Nolvus but I won't know for sure until I try! If it works it'll be something to cover in future
2:19 which one are you referencing? You said Skyrim and steam. My Skyrim se is on the D drive but should I have steam on the D drive aswell. I’m at work and have to check when I get home
Is it vital to perform a clean install of Skyrim itself? Or could I successfully mod Skyrim by moving it from Program Files in steam, deleting any files associated with previous mod attempts/Vortex stuff, then completing the rest of the steps to install mods, thus keeping my save progress and still be able to install mods? I only plan on installing mods that improve the graphics, but nothing that will add features or change how the game functions outside of aesthetics. I never actually successfully modded Skyrim using Vortex in the past, I really only managed to click "manage game" and that's it. The only currently installed mods I have running on my most recent playthrough are the Creation Club mods available inside the game menu.
Hello. I am thinking about returning to Skyrim after few years. Back then, we used to 'clean the master files'. Is it not necessary anymore on AE version? Thank you.
I wish I would have found this guide first and saved a lot of headache. I should have installed everything on a seperate drive. It would have saved so many countless hours of troubleshooting and reading forums online. You know I might actually just delete everything and begin anew. Plus I would like a more organsed and easy to access file system.
It sounds scary to delete everything, but once you start over and do it well it will feel so much better and definitely worth it. Your efficiency will improve with each time too. I still completely start over from time to time (including right now actually!)
If steam doesnt allow to install games on different path, but only allows for a different drive like the issue I had. You have to reinstall steam entirely away from the program files it normally gets installed on. For example my steam is on a C:/Games/ directory
So I have to buy a separate hard drive to mod skyrim?? Steam isnt letting me add a folder or anything as a new storage drive on steam that's "outside of program files". I have given up. Skyrim has joined F3 in the list of unmoddable games in 2024
I’ve got to level 26 and i’m considering just starting to Mod this game and start a new playthrough. I don’t suppose i can use any existing saves i have when this is all set up?
May sound like a stupid question but I just got a high powered pc a d went crazy with modding. I want to restart like this. Will I lose all of my saved I have worked in so far? My assumption is yes
How muich HD space do you need for a decent experience? Not overkill but just the right amount of mods to make the game feel remastered and more immersive.
There's no good answer to that I'm afraid as it just varies so much. But it's usually textures that are hard on the available space so anything with improved graphics etc or retextured and improved are big ones. The Complete Guide build is around 60GB at the moment as of the latest episode
At the beginning of the video when you are deleting all of the files to reinstall everything in a new area would that mean you lose all of your saves from before you deleted Skyrim
why do i have to completely uninstall everything and re download steam in somewhere else JUST to mod a game when my mods were working before without having to do any of that before? i had 200 mods with skyrim together and everything setup and just because i downlaoded the stupid new update i gotta undo my whole system?
Ouch. CTD is a nightmare for sure! These were planned to be released weekly at the same time and day, but due to the response I’ve received from Part 1 I’m trying to see if I can bump them up a bit to keep people going
I've got 10+ games on Steam already installed through the Program(x86) path. Am I just screwed if I don't want to uninstall everything and start pathing Steam games in a different folder. Or does this just affect major modding, I basically just want skyui and some world map mods. Not looking to overhaul the game.
I'm super new to modding and I'm stumped on the part where I have to download steam outside of program files. I already had steam downloaded before this video, so does that mean I have to delete it and reinstall it? What will happen to the other games I have installed?
what am i supposed to do if i don’t have anywhere near the amount of CC files? there aren’t 74 files, and when i even first open mod organizer it shows way less CC lines on my screen than it does his.
So I redownloaded steam in a new folder after completely uninstalling it on the same SSD but when I look into program files, I still find folders relating to steam. Should I not be worried about this or should I redownload steam onto a different Ssd?
IMPORTANT: I do not say you need a second hard drive to mod Skyrim.
A second drive is a way around having to reinstall Steam if it’s inside Program Files already via a second Steam library.
1. To mod Skyrim successfully, you need to install Skyrim outside of Program Files
2. You can create a second library to avoid reinstalling Steam *but* you can only have 1 Steam Library per drive
So, if you have a second drive, you can install a second Steam library on it to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling Steam to essentially move it outside of Program Files
Footnote: in the best interests of transparency, I am aware that moving Steam manually has been successful for some people. However, I simply do not have the data to suggest this is a 100% foolproof method therefore I am unwilling to recommend it.
So if I have the whole Steam app and library installed outside of Program Files, then I do not need a second drive, correct?
@CristianNavia0807 correct
Thank you. I was afraid my first time ever attempt to mod was going to miserably fail.@@ADHDecent
How do you make a second library though????
I can't find a scrap of info that is helpful about that

Question! What are we trying to do by moving the library?
Moving the library would be in cases where Steam was installed within Program Files already and you didn’t want to reinstall Steam completely.
@@ADHDecent Steam? do you mean the market stuff or no?
@@machscga6238 so we have to move where steam itself is installed?
i am grateful very very grateful, the other vids are great but leave me in the wind and confused sometimes without being narrow and pointing out the key small details.
Thanks!
No worries! Glad you're enjoying it so far! Happy modding :)
Man you are a treasure, you definitely earned and deserve my sub. Kudos to you man.
I really appreciate you thank you! It means a lot! :-)
Coming back to rewatch your steps again, suddenly hit by the craving for Skyrim. My old modlist was a bit buggy and didn't look that appealing, so here I am to learn from the best :D
I'm very grateful you're too kind! Thank you :) enjoy!
Perfect timing while I'm still deciding nope do this, nope do that.
Hopefully this series will help :-)
Oh my fucking god finally thank you so much Mr youtube man

where are we suppost to put it instead of program files
Just found your channel. Awesome series. Not easy making a video that mostly stares at MO2 entertaining but you you have, nice one!
I’m honoured thank you! Very kind of you to say as it certainly is tricky! Aha
There is no option in steam but there is a program you can find online which can add an alternate game folder path
It worked for me when i completely reinstalled steam (and uninstalled all games) and changed the download path in the launcher
Probably have to reinstall steam in its entirety away from program files
Can u just cut and paste in a different folder ?
I havent been able to get my mods working no matter what I do so I'm now following along with this guide hoping things turn out better this time with everything that could possibly interfere deleted. Or at the very least make it as easy as possible to figure out whats wrong and solve it so I can finally play my damn game the way I want it to be.

Be well.
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! Glad you’re enjoying the videos so far! Lots planned. I’m jealous of your 1TB NVME though ;-)
Thank you SO MUCH for this! I have been trying to get a clean install of Skyrim for so long! It seemed impossible!
You’re very welcome! Glad I could help! :-)
Worked like a charm. Cheers to you!
Happy to help!

“To create a second library for steam you’ll need a second hard drive” - is using a second hard drive a must for this guide?
Absolutely, as you will need to place steams game directory outside of windows programs files
Skyrim was updated recently for its creations, screwing up alot of mods. It would be great if the next video could be how to also step by step install popular mods like big graphics mods, animation adding, etcetera. I really just play mostly vanilla skyrim with bow intimating this all is

Thank you for this amazing guide broo
You’re welcome! I appreciate your support! :-)
I’ll be covering those further into the series :-) glad you’re enjoying it so far!
Thank you for showing difference in Anniversary Edition
You're very welcome :)
Me at 2:12: I deleted steam as well
🤣🤣
Thank you for this guide ❤
You’re welcome! :-)
I can't believe I've never thought of creating a shortcut for a directory... ugghhh
I’ve already watched the first 8 videos and I’m now starting my process and now I’ve run into my first snag during video #1:
When I attempt to follow the directions to create the SSE shortcut, I go into my gaming file, then steam, steamapps, and common, the only file that is in common is Steamworks Shared; nothing else.
But if I am able to help others begin their modding journeys I'm happy :-)
Hope this has helped explain the reasoning behind all the decisions.
@@divergentlife493 There are MANY people on reddit/skyrimmods who play vanilla all the time and have only played vanilla.
Time for next part
It’s getting close! :D
No way lol. I just started modding and watching your vids this week
The ultimate sign! We’ve got this ;-)

Do you also mod nolvus and mo2
This is something I'm currently looking into to see if my PC would handle it. My PC is rather outdated for something as intense as Nolvus but I won't know for sure until I try! If it works it'll be something to cover in future
Great!
Great guide as always m8!!
Hey Anthony! Appreciate it thank you!!
So I have to go buy a new drive just to mod Skyrim?
Why is your guide for Special Edition when Anniversary Edition is the latest version - curious? And how does it differ?
Unreal, thanks so much, subbed.
Appreciate the support thank you :-)
2:19 which one are you referencing?
Thank you.
Hey, just got back from holiday and wanted to return to skyrim. does this guide work for VR as well?
also, thanks for making this!
You’re welcome! I’m not sure about VR I’m afraid
You don't know me, but we are friends now!
Always like meeting new friends! :D
Would these same steps work for the Non-Special Edition version of Skyrim on Steam?
Do I need to have more than one drive to do this? I only have one and an external.
This is really cool. Thanks for making it.
You’re welcome! :-)
What if you have some CC content, but not all of it. Will the picker still work? Last time I tried it, I got errors.
Does the Skyrim version have to be the Special Edition? I have the original first version of the game back from 2011.
GOATED
is there a way to mod with only one drive
If steam doesnt allow to install games on different path, but only allows for a different drive like the issue I had. You have to reinstall steam entirely away from the program files it normally gets installed on. For example my steam is on a C:/Games/ directory
Yep. Path location is decided upon initial installation not additional drives
How necessary is downgrading to a previous Skyrim version at the moment?
do you need to have the anniversary edition? or can you just stay with the special edition
So I have to buy a separate hard drive to mod skyrim?? Steam isnt letting me add a folder or anything as a new storage drive on steam that's "outside of program files". I have given up. Skyrim has joined F3 in the list of unmoddable games in 2024
1.6.1170 version of skyrim is stable ? did i need to downgrade to some older and stable version ?
1.6.640 for example
Let's goooo!🎉❤🔥🔥🔥
I’ve got to level 26 and i’m considering just starting to Mod this game and start a new playthrough. I don’t suppose i can use any existing saves i have when this is all set up?
If I’ve already installed Skyrim into program files and am now planning on modding it, can I simply move it somewhere else?
May sound like a stupid question but I just got a high powered pc a d went crazy with modding. I want to restart like this. Will I lose all of my saved I have worked in so far? My assumption is yes
The thing I need to know is which Skyrim game do I need?
How muich HD space do you need for a decent experience? Not overkill but just the right amount of mods to make the game feel remastered and more immersive.
There's no good answer to that I'm afraid as it just varies so much. But it's usually textures that are hard on the available space so anything with improved graphics etc or retextured and improved are big ones. The Complete Guide build is around 60GB at the moment as of the latest episode
hmmm nope. When re installed - now i dont get a DL box for new content??? Do you have to delete the sky rim folder too??? PS Fixed. Hadda nuke.
At the beginning of the video when you are deleting all of the files to reinstall everything in a new area would that mean you lose all of your saves from before you deleted Skyrim
why do i have to completely uninstall everything and re download steam in somewhere else JUST to mod a game when my mods were working before without having to do any of that before? i had 200 mods with skyrim together and everything setup and just because i downlaoded the stupid new update i gotta undo my whole system?

my steam is on Program files (86x) is that ok? cuz if i reinstall my steam i have to uninstall all downloaded games..
As long as the game itself isn't in program files its fine
How frequent are you posting these? I just wiped my mods last night and reinstalled SR AE to start over after CTD all day on tuesday.
I hope you’ll cover DynDOLOD TexGen and how to do Grass Caches
Mainly what I’m stuck on
Yep! It’s something in the works but will be a while yet
what am i supposed to do if i don’t have anywhere near the amount of CC files? there aren’t 74 files, and when i even first open mod organizer it shows way less CC lines on my screen than it does his.
So I redownloaded steam in a new folder after completely uninstalling it on the same SSD but when I look into program files, I still find folders relating to steam. Should I not be worried about this or should I redownload steam onto a different Ssd?
