Literally just came across your account through the big cities overhaul video today and was disappointed that there wasn't a small cities overhaul from you... except an hour later there was! Thanks a lot, i was really struggling with the compatibility of the city mods, and have also been looking for some additions to my modlist, so overall awesome guide to upgrading your skyrim experience :>
I still think the great city of winterhold is the best winterhold one, it was the capital of Skyrim at one point and was made from stone like the college. It’d be cool if there was an add on to keep great city of winterhold and the jarls keep in cotn
there is a patch to have COTN keep over TGC base Winterhold. i've tried to wrote the link but i was not able. Search for "Great cities - COTN Winterhold patch" (not the one in either "patch collection" pages, is a standalone page on nexus)
@@NarivaTV indeed, this why the new tes hype is not worth it... perhaps the modding community fixes it but is sad that the fans gotta fix Bethesda's slop, like what's happening with Starfield rn
Modded skyrim will be superior for decades, but the way I see new beth releases is the benchmark they stablish for modders going forward, which may make our lives easier in the long run. So, for example, in starfield theres no need to create complex mods to change hitboxes, prevent skating on the ground during melee attacks, or even create a survival mode, difficulty multipliers, economy systems etc. These things may be tackled individually but wont be super hard to iterate on top of whatever is offered in vanilla, while skyrim really needed over a decade of community work to achieve the state its in.
Would be cool if you cover the lesser towns like Riverwood and Ivarstead. Definitely would love to see em as fully fleshed out as the other cities and there are a few mods that does that
Really great mod actually! I actually remember adding a part about fortified Morthal to the script before recording but forgot to save so it got removed. But I guess it's just me wanting to keep it consistent with COTN.
@@NarivaTV It's compatible with CotN and JK's Skyrim. You'll find them in the Patch Collection. New patches are coming out for other mods too. Fabled Forest, Spaghetti's Cities and Lanterns of Skyrim II are out
Hilarious how i was thinking of writting in the big city videos that you released 6 months ago that its been way too long since you said this one was coming 😂
I agree with others comments. For Winterhold the best mod is "The Great Cities". In the lore the old Winterhold was able to match the glory of Solitude and Windhelm, and was also Capital ofSkyrim for some time. So even after the destruction of Great Collapse (that destroyed more or less half of the city, not 90%) plus some degradation by the time, there should be more than 4-5 houses. It should be at least the size of vanilla Morthal (as TGC do), not smaller than Riverwood and Rorikstead (like in COTN). Plus the architecture of TGC, with stone building, is more fitting in lore (it was a city magically created from the coast and mountains around), environment (lot of stones aviable, not as much wood) and it matches the College style (that used to be more integrated in the city). And finally, while being bigger in population and interiors and more fitting in desing, with signs of the old glory, it is also better in showing the disaster (with more building ruins). I agree 100% on Falkreath COTN being the best (but i play with that and TGC combined, mostly to have the cemetery, internal burial site and back walls of the second, that fits too). Morthal COTN again the best, but Redbag one deserve a try. Dawnstar COTN too, but i think that TGC vibes are similar. For morthal and dawnstar a good combo COTN+ETAC (to have more buildings and NPCs). Another alternative, especially for Falkreath and Dawnstar, that is worth a mention is "Holds - The City Overhault" (with those 2 cities having thier own cell instead of being on the exterior world)
Glad you're back! I'll have to see if I can afford your Patreon. (Mine has new songs every month. 😁) Yes, please, another vid about Riverwood, Ivarstead, etc. And take your time, it's all good.
Nice overview. Keep going. Let's see your take on all the smaller settlements in vanilla. I'd say that RedBag's Falkreath has a major pro - Way fewer landscape seam issues and patching. It also has a con - It's darker due to fewer light sources at night. Ultimate College of Winterhold (UCoW) is great. Be careful if you're using TGCo Winterhold as the latest version (4) isn't patched to work with UCoW afaik. It's also patched to work with The Midden Expanded and Stunning Statues of Skyrim for that sweet Mage Statue with the glowing balls 🙄😎
Bro!! HOW did you get COTN Morthal and the Greqt City of Morthal working together?! The compatibility mods won’t work in the patch collection for COTN! I gave up!
Want to point out real quick as someone that plays ESO and has for a long time, Falkreath isn't in ESO. It's too far south from the areas of Skyrim that are in ESO which include the Reach (Markarth), Western Skyrim (Solitude, and Morthal), Eastmarch (Windhelm) and the Rift. As well as the small towns that reside in those holds.
@@kingkaz12 Bro, there is a quest about stopping the assault at the city: "Horns of the Reach DLC and Update 15 Preview The second dungeon is Falkreath Hold, a township under siege that will soon fall to the marauding hordes of Domihaus the Bloody-Horned. You and your companions must break the siege, move into the town and Jarl's Hall, and defeat the monstrous warlord himself. Update 15 Patch Notes Falkreath is under attack by the combined forces of the fearsome Minotaur Domihaus the Bloody Horned and his Reachman marauder allies. hi nariva, i watched all your videos but i forget what the named mod that's rebuild the destroy city? like helgen but they rebuild the city overtime. can you share what it's the mod name please. thank you.
Festive modded inns is a great addition to these. It adds a lot of idle markers to great cities and cities of the North inns so people don't just stand around aimlessly The midden expanded esm version is also amazing and adds a bunch of stuff to the midden and even a short quest related to the great collapse
@@NarivaTV yeah it's definitely a really great small mod. It covers cities of the North and smaller locations like the great town of karthwasten and I believe ivarstead. If you look into the dragon born can rest mod it's called something like that it allows you to also use all of the idle markers in the game which is a small but immersive touch. Great for screenshots and videos too. Wink wink
I think its unfortunate falkreath is known for having a big cemetery, but the best overhauls dont address this. I love cotn falkreath but I ended up going for arthmoor's boring falkreath mod because it gives a house to all named npcs and is compatible with the mod "falkreath graveyard". Its still not a impressive graveyard for real life standards but at least it can sell the illusion. EDIT: just saw you mentioned this lol. Gotta see if this one's available on nexus
Unfortunately it hasnt been ported to Creations :( Hopefully some good soul will see this and help a brother out. Dawnstar burial site graveyard would be nice as well, we still havent got that.
