- Today we find and pull this 1963 Volkswagen Bus from it's grave. This rescue had some ups and downs with equipment breaking and being short on daylight. This Vw Kombi is in need of a full restoration but it is savable....I think :)

Honestly the maddest but best VW rescue channel on YT. Absolutely brilliant and nerve wracking at the same time. Hope you feel better soon Jason.
thank you C&C, I appreciate that !
Great adventure...Great show...Thank you Jason for your cast of characters...a lot of fun...Brad
you could become the number one bus restorer: save EVERYTHING, no matter how degraded
You Need to Get a Battery & Winch Sponsor !! But that would kill the struggle of the rescues !
The accumulation of problems and the gradual reduction in available tools made the rescue progressively more entertaining. Well done!
thank you, it's home and off. the trailer
Someone needs to change their name to "Dubdoeswalkarounds".
On the other side of the scale, these rescues never get old. The dedication, the preparation (or lack thereof), and the eternal enthusiast's struggle keeps us coming back for more. 👍
you need a medal . i would of left my trailer came back in the morning
Bro! I'm feeling your pain watching you move all that stuff.
that was gravy , loading tie downs and the misc tools killed me earlier when i had zero energy :)
Thought you were gonna roll it for a minute!
I had a 66 with basically the same features, no middle seat, bench front, simple windows. Dark blue and white two tone. At the time I didn’t know much about it, just where to put the gas in! I was a teenager and needed a van to haul band gear! Rock on baby!
Just s couple things thst might help out with that winch. Much thicker cables will carry the current and get yourself a pulley, like that's on the end of that come along and double your cable back. It will take a lot of stress off of the winch. Plus if you set it up right, you can use it to re-direct your pulls. Great videos.
Wow that's a rough one
You must be the Houdini of VW rescuers!
Every time you get a VW bug or bus on your trailer a am completely amazed! 😅
A man with perseverance!👍👍👍
much appreciated Dwight, I didn't have much in the tank that day
Another question: why don’t you put Dubwerks to work?! Make that kid earn his keep, Jason!! Next time bring a lawn chair, some cold ones, and direct Dubwerks on what to do!
Dubwerks is the camera crew. 🎥
Isn't it amazing what dogged perseverance can do?!
I truly appreciate your never say never attitude!!! Kudos to you for rescuing another piece of automotive history. You make me want to go buy a Beetle and relive my teenage years!!
Awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
thank you t1554, much appreciated
I enjoy how you east coast guys evaluate the state of things when it comes to rusty VWs. Having watched the channel for a while now, I am still in awe of what you consider worth saving and drag home. 😂 And keep the smack talk about Wicked Werks coming! We all know he enjoys it! 😂
WOW that was like the most exciting motion picture I've seen in decades! It makes me a nervous wreck when you do the lift up with 6x6's and 1 lift. Great video and I learned alot. Take care Jason, I always look forward to your videos.
thank you Bruce, i appreciate it !
“Those are twigs…”. Awesome line. 😊
Three come alongs !!! Amazing 👏
hi Richard, 3 broken HF winches
Jason, you the man. I admire the way you keep at it and come up with new approaches to solve new problems. If nobody took a chance on new methods, you cant get anything done.
Hi Mike, thank you , very appreciated
Another rescue, good job. Wishing you good health as well. Take care 👍
thank you Terrence , you as well
thank you TC7676!
Hope you get to feeling better. Great rescue, as always. The sketchier the loading technique, the better the feeling of success if it doesn't end in disaster.
thank you 56Ford , haha, true :)
thank you 56Ford
Get well bro👍
thank you, I'm feeling better
Jason you continue to be a hero at getting these bus's on your trailer and back home your grit and determination never
fails to amaze me hope you get better soon thyroids can be a real pain my wife as the same issues I wish you well friend
Andy Allen.
hi Andy, thank you, I really appreciate the kind words....yes it's been a few years too until i finally went to see a DR for blood work.
well that's good I will be praying for a good outcome for you Jason best Andy@@5150mxVW
I like your never say die attitude, we'll done.
thank you , very appreciated 6869
That makes your channel so exiting. We all have been there, we all know Murfy’s law, we all fall back on the ANALOG and mechanical tools when things go south. This is the essence of life how reality works. And you are just the nicest guy to be around.
Epic Jason, but at least you got it in the end!
Get well soon mate🏴🇬🇧
thank you , well i welded my broken come a long after this one and bought a new one as well :)
The key to consistency is being consistent! Doing a rescue, yet leaving key elements/TOOLS behind that would make a rescue a tad easier (though probably less entertaining). Know that you are doing The Lord’s work! Me getting strange looks as I laugh out loud while watching this as I workout at the local… thanks again! You and Dubwerks NEVER disappoint!
You are CRAZY!!!!!!!!! Fun to watch BOTH of you!!!!!!! 😃
Hats off Mate!
thank you, much appreciated
One thing for sure, you don't give up
❤️
Glad Michael McDonald finally showed to give you a hand.
LOL
Where there’s a will, there’s a way 🤙😳👍 That made the Bus in the swamp look easy 🙃
Excellent rescue! Always an interesting watch. Don't beat yourself up for not being prepared. It's not like you have done many of these. Thanks for taking us along and I look forward to watching the NH rescue.
haha! i was prepared , the 12k winch could of winched the rusty engineless bus with 4 locked drums onto the trailer all by itself if it worked :). I broke my come a long on the so23 bus rescue ....one way or another it was going on that night :). Thank you WT :))
Balls of steel. Wow man.
I just listen to the intro song you wrote & perform...it's my new Eye of Tiger jam :)
Great stuff Jason! It's nice to see everything is status quo! Another absolute gem of a find buddy! Well done getting her loaded up.
thank you JP, yes haha :)
Nothing like digging out a VW to work the sickness out of you. Hope you are feeling better. Can't wait to see this bus after you clean it out. Let me know when it becomes available.
Great job on the rescue. Hope you feel better soon. Glad to your helper show up and help so much. Maybe he gets to sit on Santas lap.
thank you , he wasn't there to dig in :), he was on his way to a family commitment
Get better my friend!!!!!
thank you, feeling good ...have to get to NH Buses :)
Hard work pays and not to many people know what hard work it these days. I salute you and a good job done. Much ❤ from U🇬🇧 .
thank you LF9359...true story
Love the comments "you should have been more prepared"! Yeah! Sure! What are you suppose to do? Take 3 trucks, 4 trailers, 8 winches? LOL! You did a fine job "improvise, adapt, overcome". Yep, I stole that line! Make it a great one! Cheers!
HAHA ! thank you Russell ...the only thing i didn't have that i usually do is a come a long . I broke mine on that SO23 bus rescue and i have not replaced it. You don't need much when you have a 12k winch hooked to a rusty , engineless VW Bus with the rear wheels free ....oh , a working winch :))
i dig your determination dude
Wow!! This was painful. I so wished I was close enough to help out. I hope you’re feeling well my friend. I got concerned how you sounded in the end 🙁
Its better than the 23 window. You've done well getting it halfway onto the trailer. It gets dark early when you are living in the Arctic Circle. LOL You've done well . clap, clap, clap .
Jason, never let it be said you don’t have intestinal fortitude! Thanks for another amazing rescue👍
thank you Mike, I appreciate that
thank you Mike !!!
You’re the best Jason. The best channel hands down my friend
God Bless
you are too kind Mark, thank you , I appreciate it
Another heroic save, a '61 standard microbus! Save them all, no matter what. I hope you find a buyer for a good price, and that you're feeling better. Nice job with what you had to work with!
Dude, you are a stud.
Damn, Dubworks did you nasty on that one… To think you did him a favor on the last bus you found for him ;-)
haha, he had a prior family commitment ....and he found this honey hole so i gotta give him a pass :)....and he did show
This is the ex-stream VW content I signed up for. 😅
The buses in a stream content is coming out next ! 😁
Jason, I loved that you went 1 hr 15 mins on this one! It was really a cluster F, I cant beleive you pulled it of not feeling 100%, but no surprise there. Feel better my friend, cant wait to see New Hampshire! Thanks there is none better than your chanel!
thank you for the kind words SP, too kind ...yes it had some punches thrown ...happy i didn't have to unhook and drive down to hf for a come a long ...could be snow up in NH, well see :)
HEAL UP! EAT CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP!.... MERRY XMAS!
It might be easy for you to locate VWs down there but it sure is a big job retrieving them. Love how you never give up and I guess that is what brings us.Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and family. From NB Canada
That rescue not easy at all, but you did again. Amazing
thank you JcF
Your energy is amazing. I’m tired watching good job
not much energy that day but not getting it on the trailer wasn't happening
I rescued a 63 Campmobile about 4 years ago. Small hatch, fried eggs and ice pics like this one. The interior survived better than expected. Love mouse grey, your bus looks pretty savable!!! That passenger mirror is trick lol. Awesome, rescue Jason glad you are rock'en this old school. I liked how you hammered on the brake shoes through the lug holes. But have messed up a few drums hammering on the outer brake service. Had flat spots instead of round drum surface. Since I've managed avoided the otter ridge so I can reuse the drum without difficulties!!
Robby is kind of a Princess sometimes
He gets a pass , he had a family obligation at 4 ish …this was a last minute jump in the truck and let’s go for it
Afternoon mate
afternoon Mr M
Your tenacity paid off in the end as usual. Guess your buddy didn't want to get his hands dirty and help you dig that out!
Hey Jason, That Thyroid thing is no joke. When mine went kaphlooey I could barely climb a step ladder. Walking to the mailbox required one or two rest periods each way. And I was trying to help my brother-in-law build a house and many days I struggled to get from one end of the foundation to the other. Had mine zapped (radioactive pill) and with meds, I feel a whole bunch better. Oh, and you are a very entertaining Rescue/Wrecker guy.
PATIENCE AND YOU DID IT RESPECT HOPE YOU GET WELL SOON OLD SCHOOL IS THE WAY
,,,,shovel,check==battery,check==winch control,check==tire pump,check===enough time,,,not so much........😮......get it dude!!!..tnx for these fun recovery vids,,pat&family,land o'lakes,wi..(my latest rescue=1961 mercury comet.)
Stuff failing, running out of daylight that is determination for you. I do hope you feel better soon Jason. 🙏👍👍
thank you Stephen , i appreciate it
This is going to be a good one and you get well soon mate
thank you Mr M, i'm feeling better
You need to rescue a service truck so you always have your tools and jacks. 🤣 Wow J, I can’t believe you were able to get that bus on the trailer. That bus fought hard. Great job! Excellent rescue. Thank you!
Man, that was painful to just to watch, You totally had my admiration.
I was shouting “It’s a ‘63” since the beginning of your video. Last year for the small rear window, it’s 63 and later doglegs, icepicks. “This one’s a little sketchy” is right. LOL Hope you’re feeling better soon, Jay. Glad Robby finished his donut and gave you a hand… filming! 😂
a friend texted me while watching and asked how many people were flaming me in the comments for calling it a 65 haha....I never really paid much attention to it other than is was post 61...I didn't know so thank you for the bus education . I hope he didn't get any frosting on my broken sheety go pros ! :)
So frustrating to watch but I can’t look away
Another amazing rescue !!! They are the best !
Thanks!
thank you Tom!
Absolutely brilliant. Wonderful stuff. Really great job👍👊
thank you Andy, much appreciated
I KNOW you were hurting the next day. Dude, my heart goes out to ya!
You handled that like a true saint and they should name a highway after you. You got real VW blood runnin' through ya.
Fuck. Mad respect!
Thank you , much appreciated !
As a former Marine from Connecticut and a VW Bus Chaser living in South Carolina, it was great to see you “adapt and overcome “ and well done.
I purchased a good quality winch ad have added a double battery box on my car trailer. I only use one and keep the other as a spare. I got tired of come alongs that will bust or kink. I have a 2000 pound chain fall that I use to transfer my engines from cart to cart but it has a neutral position on the cranking arm so you can put it in “N” and pull the slack out of the chain. I hope you come to the No Dough Bus Show in Port Orange in April of 24, you will enjoy it. I have met Mustie over the years and Jason Remmick at the NH Bug show and we have a great community. I always enjoy your adventures and repairs, good freestyle.
Jim
Hi Jim , a compliment from a Marine is a HUGE one ! Thank you !
My wife also told me not to buy a VW pickup, a 71’. And now there are 3 SC’s (71, 68, 65) 3 splits (64, 65, and 66), and 2 bugs (65, and 74 ). I’m now watching the Yukon yellow very rescue. My mother bought a new 62’ with a gas heater. That was in NY state. I bought a 1959 vert in 67’ for $50 and it ran well. Where those are who knows. I’m still snooping around the Litchfield area when I come up for July, August and September.
I’ll see Brent in April at NDBS in Port Orange Florida, April 5-7. Great time for all. Also parts guru Chad McGee.
I watched this of my own free will.
thank you for checking it out
Wow wow WOW
The bus whisperer. Great video as always Jason. Cheers.
i did edit a few non whispers out when the bus fell on my only jack haha :)
thank you Chris , i appreciate it
That rescue was totally amazing how you never give up and are so inventive with your solutions
Love it 🙂🇦🇺
thank you so much , I appreciate that
hey, you got it done and you have the VW! good job!
thank you MJD
Love the dealer sticker 😍
i have yet to see this decklid haha
If anyone ever put the disclaimer "Don't try this at home" it should be put on this video. Otherwise very entertaining so I subscribed.
Haha, this was one of my safer attempts :) . Thank you for dropping a comment and the sub 👍
The red Porsche is a funny thing for CT in Florida!!
Dang. You are one determined person. Very focused and yes quite 5150
much appreciated Gispel , thank you
Hey Jason loved the intro sound track, well done backyard kombie, love that track, where is that kid, hope you feel better soon buddy,🤙🍻🇮🇪
Well done sir!
Thank you Mr White
That was a nail biter but better than anything streaming on my tv tonite
Thanks for the episode
Take it easy
thank you Russell , i appreciate that
Another one saved… nice 👍🏻
thank you Keith
You got me on Google Earth looking, this guy had a stash of VW's on Post Road at the top of the hill on the right if you're traveling from the town center. This was 35 years ago, lots changed. Couldn't see if they're still there. I also remember an old wrecked green 50's bus.
Well done Jason, that was a huge effort, especially when you’re not feeling so well. I hope the sale pays you well for that one, it’s a bus not too far gone for rescuing. Does Robbie ever break a nail, btw ? 🙄
At least one a day...
You got it mate 👍
About 1 out of every 5 episodes we get the " this outta be good" segment. When I sense that coming, I stop the video. I make some buttered popcorn, grab a beer from the ice box, and put the recliner in recliner mode. I restart the video and watch! I mean this in a good way; can I get a couple of Life insurance policies on you guys?! LOL!
omg, that was brutal to watch. Glad you got it loaded, finally, and thanks for all the help Dubwerks.. lol...
wasn't too bad , nothing like the SO23 in NH rescue that took 4 trips :)..... haha, he's there for support and filming ...people say the same thing about me when i'm in a Mustie1 vid...just waiting on a command :)
The little-big Infiniti Whale that could. Also rolling stops are what separates the men from boys, way of the road in the northeast.
Great video as usual! 👍😀
Thank you ! I appreciate it LC
Hope you can stay strong!
thank you James
"Kroil... the good stuff!" (8:40). I've had good luck with Kroil, even though some "testers" on RUclips have found that Kroil isn't that good.
A well earned prize, you learn how to do things by doing it wrong a few times! , it looks well saveable tho.
Good job man, hope you get to feeling better soon
thank you Nate
Love your channel. Can relate to your thyroid pain, been dealing with severe highs and lows 30 years. Hopefully it’s not Hashi as that can really be tough.
