I bought this game for Switch and so far I'm really enjoying it. I've never read the original books, so I went into this completely new. Besides a few slow-downs, the performance was fine with me. I completed the adventure with one of the starter figurines. I'm currently making my way with another adventurer and loving the differences. I can't wait to continue playing. There's a few things you left out in your review that I think some people should know: 1. You start the game with 4 characters to choose from. There are around 16 locked characters that you can unlock through killing monsters. The two characters I've encountered so far have special abilities that affect the in-game writing and choices in different ways. There's a lot of replay value. 2. The dungeon itself for the most part isn't procedural generated, it's static. This is actually pretty refreshing since you can dive back into the game multiple times with different characters and get different reactions.
Hey, Joe. I'm really glad you're enjoying the game! Like I said, I have a strong connection to the source material and I thought the changes the characters brought were pretty cool -- aside from lacking an option to put myself in the game which I would have appreciated. The things you list are totally accurate. If you enjoy playing with the different characters then there is a TON of replay value here. I think it might get a little old going through the same rooms with 20 different characters if done in a short span of time. But there are people who are going to love that and it's a huge bonus for them. Thanks for watching! 💙
You wrote a script for this vid! And it's a great one. Liked how you illustrated your connection to this game while giving an in depth review. You should write for IGN!
Your mic volume is a bit low in this vid. But great review. I don’t think this would be my kind of thing, but hearing you talk about your connection to it was enjoyable.
Thanks! And thanks for the note on the mic volume. I listened to it but didn't realize. I really do love the books these are based on. I'd have scored this one higher without the technical problems.
Thanks! I would love this game if the performance issues I had with it were patched. Heck, I'd be down for more book adaptations if they didn't suffer from the same problems.
Currently on sale for $2.99 (US eshop) which looks like an absolute steal, even with some slow loading times.

Great review. I like the style of how you approached it. Lots of info.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it. :D
Awesome review, thanks so much! It's on sale for $2 so I'm considering it lol

Love the review! And for whatever it's worth, love your voice 👍 I really like this kind of game. Hope they do patch it up.

Too bad about the performance issues because I really want to try this game. Maybe I will check out the steam version you spoke of.
I hope the Steam version doesn't have the performance problems -- it certainly wouldn't have the handheld specific problems.
It’s on sale now ( $2.99 US)
Nice review man. I've always been a fan of tabletop RPGs and this reminds a lot of them. Solid review though🤙🤙
I love the tabletop aesthetic. Show me figurines representing your character and I'm gonna be sold every time.
€ 2,49 I'll wait until it goes to 95%. Maybe by then the issues will be resolved.
I don't know ow about your eshop but uk eshop it's 95% off right now so less than £1 I'll give it a try after reading through everyone's comments.
@@sarajane5306 yup same here thanks for the heads-up
so, terrible loading times, unresponsive controls, and blocks of text blocking the view. Let me know how you enjoyed that.
