I know I'm about a year late finding this video, but I am deeply saddened to learn 'ole Joe passed away. I used to go to Blue Cypress Lake to fish for bass quite often, and I always looked forward to talking to Joe & Jeanne. Such good people and Jeanne is 100% RIGHT about this gorgeous natural lake. It really is a gift from God. Blue Cypress is my favorite place in all of Florida. And I like the fact they always protested the paving of the only dirt road going to and from the lake. They knew all too well, if they had paved that road, this lake would've received a drastic increase in traffic & pressure. Blue Cypress Lake is THE example of what natural Florida lakes USED TO LOOK LIKE. It also has the cleanest water in the entire state, and is perhaps the only lake that has NO Hydrilla & milfoil infestation. The slightly elevated salinity of the fresh water wont allow the invasive species of aquatic weeds to grow, yet ALL the native species of plants & trees THRIVE here. But there's one more unique natural feature for this lake, and that is the elevated salinity of this water is just enough to host MANGROVES all around the lake, with some of the mangrove "trees" being quite large. How cool is THAT.........This lake really IS a miracle from our Mighty Creator. ........RIP Joe, I will always remember the good times we had talking fishing & the history of this lake.
Beautiful natural resource. 👍
