Just got back from the fish camp. Told them your video brought me. Pretty decent place. Just a heads up for folks with deeper drafting boats. You wont make it to the pancake place lol Its like 2 feet deep at that last lake to get there. 18ft center console it isn't happening without a jackplate. Boats like Kevins is the way to go to truly explore backwater Florida. Now to watch his vid on how to find one like his.
Good heads up about the water depth. I’ve never really paid attention as I don’t have a depth finder. But at least you can make it out to the St. John’s river and cruise north or south.
This is my home town and used to fish the river and lake woodruff a lot. Would launch from highlands a lot. You can run through all of the back water canals just keep your eyes out of other people or logs.
@@OverlandFlorida Yeah its a 69 18ft offshore. It's about 6 feet wide. It has an old Mariner 115 on it .I'm seriously considering a new Suzuki 90hp. 11k but it would be so nice. Plus they are stingy on gas.Ride all day on 10 gallons
Cool place, stayed there many times.Great for boat rides but the bass fishing blows.Woodruff is nothing but mud from years of hyacinth spraying and sinking to the bottom.Bass cannot/will not spawn on a mud bottom and fwc does not stock bass in those areas. That whole area is very shallow and you will get stuck if your not paying attention.Go in the summer and you can enjoy yellow jacket attacks in the canal to and from the fish camp as well. 😄
We just visited Hontoon Island for the first time a few weeks ago, it was a nice place to take a little break. I'm curious if you found a place to beach the boat and walk to Blue Springs? We haven't found a good place to do that. The boat parking to the right of the docks is all muck from what we saw. The cabins look nice 👍. Do you have some more videos coming showing the rest of your adventures on this trip?
We had to use the muck parking for the boats to the right of blue springs. They really need a dock of some sorts. I have 3 videos coming out of this trip and it shows the whole day exactly where we went. We did 94 miles on the boats in one weekend.
@UCuiRBOfvWNxbLvbQPPTI3lg my top speed is around 27mph. We cruise around 22-24mph. The next video comes out Thursday morning. It's 28min long and shows the pancake run and everything.
@@OverlandFlorida oh I so miss my Florida I wish I was back there stuck in Connecticut here temperatures are going down to the 20s tonight not fun trying to talk to wife into moving back down
Katie and I were just taking about this. I have the GoPro 9 Black and the built in microphone cancels a lot of the wind noise. It's actually really nice. On the older GoPro's the wind noise would sound terrible.
Are you a Fireman or Law Inforcement? Those are long hours. My dad was a Fireman and he would work long hours like that. Anyway, great video and cabins are cool. 👍

Great boat /camping place there!
Bro, you're the ultimate Floridian on RUclips. Thanks for all your videos, saludos from the 305 !
Thanks man, I just like going out and having fun.
The dog is Ruger and you have found a gem of a place. My son and I love staying there for Bass fishing.
Ruger! Thank you for that information and you are totally correct on this being a hidden gem.
Love the cabin
Me too!
I’m so glad Ruger was still around! Wife and I went there years ago and stayed in a cabin. Great choice. Not many places like that in Florida anymore.
I try to go pretty often. It’s a lovely place and I love that part of the St. John’s river.
Nice get away, great post. TY
Thank you William!
Thanks for the video 👍
You're welcome Matt!

Going there next weekend. Thanks for the video
Nice! I’m going in a couple weeks.
Tell them you saw the videos. They would enjoy that.

I'm getting too old to be staying up like that. Thanks for watching!

You're in my domain now.
I've been exploring that area for 30 years. Love it!
Haha! Thanks Tom!
well you got me sold wanting to go there. I can't wait to book a date with this place.
I can't wait to go back. As soon as we can agree on a weekend I'm going to book it.
Looking to get into these adventures myself n take my tacoma overlanding aswell. Never did any of this. Excited to start
You're welcome to join anytime.
Thanks Kevin, we’ll have to add the fish camp to our list of places to visit.
It's definitely a hidden gem. What real Florida was 50 years ago.
Love that area. The springs around there and just north of there are amazing.
Yeah, silver Glen and salt springs are pretty close.
@@OverlandFlorida Any idea how long to Silver Glen via boat from camp?
@@JVRottweil a couple hours.
Thanks for another great video ! Love the detail you always provide !
You're welcome Jim and thanks for watching!
Those cabins look really nice. From the outside you wouldn't know it.
Exactly!
Thanks for sharing ......Happy Thanksgiving guys
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Very cool man!
Thanks!
Good looks guys 👌 I'ma be there Dec at pancake run event 👍
Yeah, I hope you guys have good weather for the pancake run! It's a nice ride. 👌

Thanks Colin, that's exactly what we ended up doing. Otherwise, it would have taken hours to get places.
Love the videos
Thank you!
I’ve begun exploring Florida’s waters on paddle board, I definitely get the appeal of these tiny boats 🤘🏻
They cost the same as a high end paddle board. I love these little boats.
Very nice!
Thank you Jeff!
Are you guys still living in Florida ? Haven’t seen any new videos on the rivers. Next week I’m getting my 2025 Suzuki 25 4 stroke for my 13 whaler
Looks like a great place. Hope to check it out sometime. Almost got my Starcraft finished
It's a great place and centrally located between many popular destinations. That stardust going to be fun!

Pontoon rental is $100/day down there. Here at out marina in Illinios it's $600 for 4 hrs
The $100 might be an old price. But it was $100 at some point. Other marinas are $400 for a half day.
Nice video! How deep is that lake you mentioned that’s about 3 miles? I have a 18ft Sea Pro.
It’s not very deep. But I see bay boats in there.
Great video.
Thank you Alex.
I’ve never been south of hwy 40, I’ll have to go one day.
You should take some gas and go for a cruise.
If you don't like the weather in Fla,, Just wait a minute.

Yep typical Florida bugs and mud but I have caught bass in woodruff but that was years ago before Florida became insane
Cool....
Immediatly seen your Google review. That's nice. They should respond.
Thanks! They've seen it. I talked to them.
Can you charge your batteries in the slips?
Yes.
Was that bridge that you went under 44?
Yes

I wonder if a 15 ft Dauntless is too big for that area. It needs about knee deep water (18 inches draft?)
I had to watch this a few times.
That would fit just fine.
How long did it take you to get to that bridge? I have a lot of questions 🙂
Maybe 25min.
How much does it cost to stay in the cabins?

They list the prices on the website, the link is in the description. The 2 bedroom cabin is $135. You can charge your batteries in the slips.

November.
