    I have also spent a similar amount of money, my favourite is the Alive Tuning remap which has made a tremendous difference. On security, rear quarter guards from LRD Security are excellent and very easy to fit. 👍🏻

    Remap, slick shift, sound deadening, removable steering wheel and new wheels are by far the best mods we've done.
    Remap only a stage 1 yet it still goes f***ing quick for a tin can on wheels
    Personally I cannot stand boost wheel so they came off asap but now its sat on some steel replicas of Mach 5 wheels with a 33mm offset so it just pokes out the fenders, looks so cool.
    Carpeting the rear is worth it but you need to take a lot of time and do a proper job with it or you'll never be happy with it, i'm constantly finding bits on it that id redo if i had the time.
    Also taking some care to the dashboard might be a good idea, I fitted some nice raptor engineering bits to revamp it and retrimmed the dash in a plusher vinyl made an amazing difference.
    Cant think of a mod that was a bad idea though, but I have to wait a while for funding the mods so I suppose Im more keen to make sure im getting good stuff, id suggest going to some owners meets and shows in the summer to have a chat with others about what they've done.

    Agree exactly with your views on performance pack combined with suspension. That was my experience which again, I had done at Alive tuning although way back when they started. I again was adamant on wanting standard ride height. Really enjoying your channel. Thanks for taking the time to produce these.

    When I bought my 2010 puma I spent a packet on physical security, gore hinges, Optimill steering wheel boss etc, my priority was stopping it getting easily stolen or dismantled, swapped the front seats for Exmoor trim ones, which are great, then Trucklite headlights, by the way, Brillo pad on the white lettering brings it up like new.

    • @thedoctorsgarage
      @thedoctorsgarage  2 года назад +1

      Great tip about the Brillo pad- will try that. Security is my next big upgrade coming very soon- definitely money well spent

    Very nice Landy I'm glad you're enjoying and having fun, I would DEFINITELY recommend a swing away wheel carrier for the spare wheel on the back, our Landy is more classic I like to keep it that way, best upgrades was putting rear windows as it was originally a panel van and definitely the Wipac kit of led lights back and front as the original ones were ALWAYS working one day yes and two days no.

    • @thedoctorsgarage
      @thedoctorsgarage  2 года назад

      Thanks! Which wheel carrier have you gone for Richard?

    • @richardtedeschi9290
      @richardtedeschi9290 2 года назад

      @@thedoctorsgarage Hi Doc, well our Landy is older than yours it is a 90 300Tdi from 1995, the swing away wheel carrier was already there when we bought her, not sure if it is a genuine Land Rover one or the Britpart one part number is DA2232.
      As us Defender owners are spoilt for choice there are many makes models and types, the one we have mounted is attached on the chassis holes at the bottom and drilled into the body on top, there are ones that fix only on the existing holes on the chassis, no need to drill holes anywhere. There are tougher ones especially if you go on lots of bumpy roads off roading and have a heavier wheel to carry, you get the idea, there's something for everyone... 🙂

  • @LRDefender1968
    @LRDefender1968 2 года назад +1

    Hi Doc,
    Great content as usual :))
    KBX upgrades, stage 1 remap by Alive Tuning, various Optimil Billet aluminium upgrades, blacked out the rear windows including the alpine lights, new 12v socket in the rear for my small solar generator and 12v fridge, NAS rear step, wax oil the chassis, LED upgrade all round, tracker fitted, the hand brake lock (Jetlock Security), a kill switch installed, 5no Sawtooth Alloys arrive tomorrow!!!!!!!!
    By far the best upgrade I have done is to remove the rear seats and bespoke build a drawer unit, it came out phenomenal:)))
    Still so much to do, one thing that is on my mind (long term) is an electric conversion as diesel is deemed the devil now.
    Kind regards
    Tony

    Doc, spending money on a defender generally increases the price, so it's money well spent. Worth a few quid. I have a 2007 pickup the same colour, I think painting the roof black and the sawtooth wheels really changed the look of the jeep. I bought an exmoor tub cover which was great. I didn't do much else. Yours looks really good, yep I put the white lettering in.

    I’ve been trying to find a suitable led interior light that looks right for my Defender, we’re is yours from? My favourite upgrade has got to be getting rid of the fan belt and fan and fitting a electric one that I can switch on from the cab and adding a bigger full width intercooler, it’s added 3mpg to my 200tdi and has really helped with make it more responsive, biggest waste of money has got to be buying a vintage smiths oil temp gauge, it looks a nightmare to fit so it’s stayed in its box for the last 5 years!

    • @thedoctorsgarage

      Hi David, my interior light is the one that came with the car but I have changed the bulb to an LED which has made it much better, here's the link to the one I bought - ebay.us/IgxQQP.

  • @funkyduckproductions.8844

    Talking of security. Don't fall in to the trap of thinking electronic wizardry alone will be the answer. It has its place. But it's not the complete solution. You also need physical security such as a steering wheel disk lock as well imo.
    Regarding trackers. For next to no money now you can install multiple trackers in your vehicle. So that's a must also imo.
