The greatest tribute to Jeff Beck is the fact that literally nobody on that stage sounded a thing like him and Eric Clapton is my favorite guitar player to ever live. Clapton, Hendrix, SRV, and Freddie King spawned millions of clones but there will only ever be one Jeff Beck. I honestly believe he might be the most impossible guitarist to duplicate of all time. NOBODY sounds like Jeff Beck! That is the ULTIMATE compliment that can be paid to a guitar player! Other guitar players understand exactly what I'm saying!

derek is so gifted and humble at the same time .... He is relatively young but already a legend ! he's like, "do you really want me to play ?" and after an hesitation , gave the guitar solo of the evening....
I had the pleasure and honor of knowing and playing with the legendary Freddy King, and I know he would be smiling down on that performance. Jeff Beck was so far ahead of his time, and one of the most underrated musicians ever. I know many will miss his great talent.
You forgot the bass player Nathan East in your list. 😉 He‘s a reliable player and a great colleague for a lot of people on that stage and some others and also a wonderful and humble person. He absolutely deserves to be mentioned in the list.

As many great guitarists as there were on stage, Derek Trucks was head and shoulders above everyone else *this night*. His command of the guitar is extraordinary. Duane would be proud.
Derek's note selection and phrasing are different than most others. I hear Ravi Shankar influence. His tone cut through with alot of high end. The sweet highs not the menacing frequencies
The usual sloppy, glorious affair. Hard to hear anyone really cutting through...and then Trucks steps up. Perfectly sits in that swamp and sings. That guy is amazing.
I just wonder how heavy the load must be for Eric Clapton. Playing so many tribute shows for fallen friends + musical colleagues. Bless them all. 🙏 🎶 🎸

That's a good point. To grow musically and personally around so many musicians, forge a friendship with many of them, and eventually, playing for their appretiation after they're gone... So harsh.
Agreed now if only I at 55 could quit drinking and smoking maybe I can make it to old age. It's a lot harder when you work online and are habitually alone.

If you're in the UK I wholeheartedly recommend Change Grow Live Their meetings are done on a zoom call so you don't even need to leave your house.

My wife and I were in Nashville in 2015 for a nursing convention. We got tickets to see Jeff Beck at the Ryman the day before the show. We couldn’t believe it wasn’t sold out. We saw Jeff Beck and ZZ Top six months before but this was better.

Absolutely! The lineup here - and I say it with due respect - looked more like a fan club filled by members of the Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival roster, of which McLaughlin is also one. The names you list would have blown the roof off.
And Jennifer F Batten! Incredible album and tour, one of the best Beck tours, maybe the best I've ever witnessed, and I saw him immediately after Blow by Blow and again after Wired, ten more times and then Jennifer's tour...

John McLaughlin The Maestro one of the greatest ever and towers over many, and who many on stage played with him because it was a right of passage for them is happy to stay in the background.
I believe that Jeff Beck R.I.P. recorded this round the 1970 time, it was a shifter then, this is a kind version. What a crowd though. Jeff would be delighted to see this lot together :)

the wankery present on stage by those determined to crank up and show out...I don't think Jennifer would have cared to be swinging dck with those on stage, John Mac surely showing a little class by humbly standing back, Billy G reached for the volume then clearly thought better of it, ...they didn't need to stroke their egos like some obviously did...the list of his contributors and actual band mates and studio musicians he played with would have been a far better "tribute" than the EC fan club.
