    The greatest tribute to Jeff Beck is the fact that literally nobody on that stage sounded a thing like him and Eric Clapton is my favorite guitar player to ever live. Clapton, Hendrix, SRV, and Freddie King spawned millions of clones but there will only ever be one Jeff Beck. I honestly believe he might be the most impossible guitarist to duplicate of all time. NOBODY sounds like Jeff Beck! That is the ULTIMATE compliment that can be paid to a guitar player! Other guitar players understand exactly what I'm saying!

    It is so inspiring hearing Eric Clapton standing up for a friend. Friends are precious, especially when they belong to a great but disappearing generarion. RIP Jeff. You were the greatest rock guitar player I ever heard, with apologies to God of course (Eric Clapton). What a beatiful concert.

    this performance wouldn't even begin to compare to having Tal Winkenfeld, Tony Hymas, Simon Philips, Terry Bozzio, Narada Michael Walden, Vinnie Colaiuta, Jan Hammer, Max Middleton, and all of the other great musicians that Jeff made his finest music with paying tribute to him.. but i guess by seeing John McLaughlin there was just a small reminder of that..

    • @MrCherryJuice
      @MrCherryJuice Год назад +11

      Absolutely! The lineup here - and I say it with due respect - looked more like a fan club filled by members of the Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival roster, of which McLaughlin is also one.
      The names you list would have blown the roof off.

      And Jennifer F Batten! Incredible album and tour, one of the best Beck tours, maybe the best I've ever witnessed, and I saw him immediately after Blow by Blow and again after Wired, ten more times and then Jennifer's tour...

      @@autk Agreed. And Jennifer was in the audience at the tribute. In the audience!!!

    • @autk
      @autk Год назад +1

      @@MrCherryJuice Yeah, that's a crime right, she was part of an incredible album and Tour, just amazing that tour, incredible guitar throw down ...what a guitarist dream to behold and they did so well together...she never really got the recognition warranted for her immense talent, but JB knew.
      the wankery present on stage by those determined to crank up and show out...I don't think Jennifer would have cared to be swinging dck with those on stage, John Mac surely showing a little class by humbly standing back, Billy G reached for the volume then clearly thought better of it, ...they didn't need to stroke their egos like some obviously did...the list of his contributors and actual band mates and studio musicians he played with would have been a far better "tribute" than the EC fan club.
