    Keep in mind. This guy is supposed to come from a less advanced culture. But he's thwarted the transporter, caused 2 phasers to explode, overridden security protocols faster than Data, and "hotwired" a transporter.

      Danar set two phasers to overload but only one actually exploded. Worf stoped the other.

      Differently advanced. Ahead of the federation in some areas (super-soldier genetic engineering for instance) but behind in others (like ship design).

      Also the federation would never devote resources to a genetically modified super soldier program because of Khan and the eugenics wars. That kind of meddling with DNA is forbidden in star fleet.

    TNG Worf: every alien-of-the-week, possessed crewmate and holo-deck gone amok owns him. DS9 Worf: Even the Jem'Hadar admire his fighting spirit. -Apparently because TNG writers couldn't figure out how to tell the audience that an alien is tough unless it's by kicking Worf's butt.

      But both TNG and DS9 used Worf to make the captain look powerful by putting him in his place. Picard, Data and Sisko had to keep the wolf on leash.

      My thoughts exactly! Nice to see worf doing well.
      Danar seemed to realize he was a little outmatched, so he changed tactics. (since his goal wasn't to "win", but to simply "get away.)

      @@castieldiallo2945 Sadly, Worf was nerfed so often by the writers during TNG. It was gratifying to see him fight on par with the guy who kicked the asses of the toughest humans on the Enterprise. Worf was given some respect for once.

      To be fair, the amount of space per person in a Galaxy Class ship is absurd so they can afford to throw storage efficiency right out the airlock.

      @GamerKat'71 Knowing that already as they did. Phasers should have been set on kill/disintegrate. The guy is clearly an extreme danger given his skills, and has already shown a propensity for overloading phasers. So you've got an incredibly dangerous man who likes to make bombs running around. That's a justification for deadly force even by Federation/Picards standards.

    Love how the "knock out" gas takes forever to work and alerts the victim that it is being introduced into the air by a loud hiss and being visible.... The guy has plenty of time to put on a haz mat suit

      A torpedo launcher is a big tube that connects the inside of the ship to the outside. He was pretending to be assuming that Danae was trying to climb around the outside of the ship.

      The Enterprise isn't a Warship, it's an exploratory/diplomatic vessel. Ideally, no one should be on the ship who doesn't want to be, and most diplomats would object to being recorded

      Honestly, this is a case where I can forgive the showrunners. TNG was produced in an era before security surveillance was as omnipresent as it is now. While I'm sure CCTV cameras were in use in various ways in the late 80s and early 90s, I suspect their true power and utility had not yet entered the public consciousness. Thus, the idea that a far-future spacecraft would be loaded with internal surveillance cameras may not have occurred to the show's writers.

      @@Biorythym yeah but they are recorded in other ways. For example Data is able to ask the computer at one point if anyone came into his cabin in the last 12 hours. The ship clearly is logging everybodies movements all the time by scanning them, thats as good as cameras everywhere, so just add cameras too…. That way sensor proof aliens cannot trick you.

    You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In [the Tarsian War] his job was to dispose of enemy personnel.     I know that they tried to make Danar seem like a real threat, but seeing him fail to easily backhand Worf across an entire room made me lose all respect for him. It is established Star Trek canon that anybody worthy of respect is capable of throwing Worf around like some kind of Klingon frisbee. Even counselor Troi managed to break his wrist and chuck him into a wall that time she got possessed.

      He wasn't resistant to the gas. He held his breath and found a pressure suit in one of the cargo containers and put it on until Picard ordered the gas cleared.

    Even with genetic manipulation, it is unlikely this species could overcome a fully grown male Klingon in hand to hand combat. It was a good episode though

    Lol I do also think it is amusing that they haven't invented security cameras yet. And the convenient crates containing pressure suits. Not to mention he somehow knew where they were and how to get around an alliance starship that he never met before but he walked around the shop like he grew up on it

    Danar uses at least 4 phasers - turbolift, explosion, transporter, and sidearm - I can only account for three - initial escape, the forcefield guard, and Worf.

    just thought of something. danar rigged it so the external sensors couldn't detect the ship he was beaming to. but then how did he know where that ship was in order to beam to it to begin with?
