I have had the Sony 14mm 1.8 GM for a long time and I like it, I can recommend it, I use it for Landscape, nature, astro/night, street/urban and indoor. I do wish for a more compact Manual focus Lens with even better optical image performance, I am fine with fx aperture 4.0 or 5.6 as the maximum aperture.
I have seriously been deciding to buy this but considering the price point I wanted to make sure that it can deliver what it said and from what this man is saying it can do that and then some definitely worth the $1,300
I’ve had this lens since last fall. I’ve had a lot of ultra wides over the years and this one is the best hands down. Haida makes a small rear element filter set for it that works great.
Haida M10 Adapter and you can add the stsndard M10 filter system from Haida - but only the square filters, works perfectly fine. There are other options as Well. Other then that, great lense
I didn’t focus properly doing some Aurora shots in April 2023 when I first got it. It is a fantastic lens for Astro, but ONE thing I love on the Samyang 24mm AF 1.8 lens is the “Astro button” on the side. When you hold down that button while switching on your camera, the lens goes into manual focus and sets itself to infinity. If you accidentally bump the focus, push the button and it goes back to infinity. That ONE thing makes the Samyang 24mm my favorite Astro lens of all time. I wish I could set the custom button on my Sony 14mm GM to do what the Samyang lens does. *got my 14mm GM 1.8 brand new in New Zealand for NZ$1995 (about US$1215) … what a bargain
@@alpsofsilence1461 , it was a special that Rubber Monkey New Zealand had on a month or two ago. So I paid NZ$1995 which in US Dollars would be about US$1215.11
I was more interested by the 20mm 1.8 TBH for astro and when I need something wider than my 28-200. I usually don’t need a lens that wide even for landscape. I prefer doing pano.
I'm planning to get a Sony A7C but still deciding which lens to buy for vlogging. Do you recommend Sony FE PZ 16-35mm F4 G, Sony FE 14mm F1.8 GM, Sigma 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN or Tamron 17-28mm F2.8. What's your take?
It lives on my FX. Lots of urbex and all of it begs for wide wide wide. The 1.8 is a big bonus for night work. Shameless plug, please come sample some footage👀
It's a fantastic lens, best ultra wide on mirrorless today. A word about bokeh.... it's a Japanese word, and there is no "uh" in bokeh. It ends with the sound much like saying the letter "k". As if you were saying the alphabet and get to "j", the next letter is "k". Bokeh. ボケ.
This lens is a real winner in terms of technical performance. However, people shouldn’t underestimate how difficult it is to compose with a 14 mm lens. It is great for interiors, but it is almost always too wide for landscapes. It is also too wide for astro much of the time.
Are you considering this lens?

If hitler is alive yes
I have the 20mm f1.8, and now I am drooling watching this LOL

My first G Master lens I love it it's light for what it is and great video and photo quality. I do all my vlogs with it and not disappointed at all.
I own the 24mm Gmaster and have been eyeballing the the 14mm Gmaster to my lens kit.Thank you for the great review,I might just pick one up.

1995?! TF! Where did you buy it from?! 👏

coincidently just started to consider the 14mm today - thanks for the video, helps a lot!
Happy to help!
Totally agree, love this lens for astro!
Nisi make a front filter adapter for this lens without any issues .
How would you compare this to the 20mm f1.8 G?
Huge focal length difference. This is the better lens all around but of course more expensive.

Great ultrawide. Light weight and doesn't take up a lot of room in your bag.
It’s only 900 dollars here in a store in Kuwait so I’m thinking of getting it for that reason alone but I want it mostly for video.
Don't think twice!
how is this for food photos? thinking of using it as travel lens.
dude i see what you did with the thumbnail and preview and its genius
is the front element easy to wipe after rain or snow?
Great video as always !!
Does this lens support IBIS?

The PZ is great. Consider the Tamron 20-40mm F2.8. 14mm is too wide for vlogging imo

Pricey, but nice lens. Thanks for the review
Yes if I do have the $, I will get 6 of it with 6 camera, setup for a panorama effect time lapse :P . If not, I just use my 12-24GM for time lapse. :D

This lens is born for astro!
It does NOT disappoint!
I need 12mm 1.8

Typically landscapes with this focal length reguires a close up subject to focus on. Like a golf ball close to the lens, at a golf course.
Sigma 14 - 24mm 2.8 is just a bit more useful for most people I think
